I can verify that captainmorgan's 730 schedule (12/12 for 2 weeks, 13.5/11.5 for 4 weeks, 12/12 for 2-3 weeks with 730 for 10 minutes after lights-out) reduces the overall time significantly. 10 week strains finished in 9 weeks, 9 week strains were slightly overdue. Very low intensity was used (2x 5W per 1.3m²). I believe the use of this technology will be regarded as a standard procedure quite soon.
yes agree I have seen similar in my gardens. especially helpful on my long flowering sativas. The thai pheno of golden tiger finished up a ok. shes normally a 16 weeker, probably took her down to a 13 weeker.

I'm running a 730nm flower initiator that turns on 5 minutes before lights out and goes 5 minutes after the lights turn off. Seeing as it was my first run, I don't have any results to compare with, but the Purple OG I was running started showing amber trichs at 7 weeks and the SFV OG (can go 10wk) went milky at Day 1 of Week 9.

I'll be going 13.5/10.5 on this next run with different genetics, so I won't really be able to tell how much it accelerates flowering, hoping to use it's benefits to get a bit better yield.

What driver do I use?
I have been using these from Ebay $.97 DC 2-12V @300mA...
http://www.ebay.com/itm/231497813773?_trksid=p11400.c100368.m3767&_trkparms=aid=333008&algo=RIC.MBE&ao=1&asc=20150120121922&meid=9534158b04ea4f41b13643da287da030&pid=100368&rk=1&rkt=8&mehot=pp&sd=331496918525

The Xp-E is supposed to draw around 1.9 volts @350 mA.....

I also have someone putting together a build...just using the tried and true Meanwell Apc 12-350 Driver too....
