I brought that up to see where the line is drawn. I think it totally gross.
i see so many people ask the same question.

to me, it seems a roundabout way of demeaning homosexuals as crude.

here is the line: consent and legality.

if the two people are consenting adults, and their actions are legal, why would they not be allowed to get married?

this rids the possibility of pedophiliac marriages, incestuous marriages, necrophiliac marriages, bestiality marriages, and the like that people somehow like to drag into the discussion of whether or not two gay people should have the same liberties as two straight people with respect to marriage.

seeing as how two gay people are citizens just like two straight people, it seems to me to be a deprivation of liberties to let one couple get married but not the other. that is explicitly against the 14th amendment, section 1.

In this case yes, he should of been forced as he is a government employee. Priests/preachers etc...No they should not be forced. That is my problem, even though I hate preachers and the like. I still feel it is /was wrong for them to be forced.

But you bring up a very good point. I like that.

i dont get it why do gay people have to get married, its as if they are not being gay...
turn that statement around.

"i don't see why straight people have to get married, it's as if they are not being straight..."

what if someone told you you were not allowed to get married simply because you were straight? how would you feel?

thank you.

so would you feel that a state employee should be 'forced' to issue a marriage license to a gay couple?

I guess you missed the point. Who provides marriage services? Did they provide gay marriage before? If not, by FORCING them to do so is against THEIR rights is it not?!?(religion is irrelevant). Doing something they have never done/or wanted to do before by force is ridiculous. How you missed that analogy is beyond me. But I am not trying to start a fight. I am not a fan of religion, and do not go to church. I just dont see it as equal rights. I see it as extra rights that were never given before. Also I never once tried forcing my beliefs on to you. Read my first sentence again!
Who is forcing whom here? For one, religion is protected by the constitution. No one will be forced to perform marriages that go against their religious beliefs. That's Right Wing rhetoric which has no basis in fact. Consider the former California law allowing gay marriage. A provision in the law exempted any church or religious individual who opposed gay marriage. Otherwise the law would have been unconstitutional and struck down.

If a brother and sister want to marry is it ok legally?

People born violent, what shall we do with them?
It used to be. Marriage between relatives was common among royal and privileged families. I'm not saying it's right and it has nothing to do with two consenting adults wanting their love to be official. I'm not even going to address your nonsense about "violent people." My point is that the definition of marriage is constantly changing. What was allowed in the past is considered morally reprehensible today. We're not the ones trying to redefine marriage. Religious zealots are.

according to the study whose validity you do not accept?

LOL!
I don't have to accept a study to use it to show you how wrong you are since you are the one who accepts it. When the study YOU accept proves you wrong, then it shows you that you don't even know what you're doing except throwing crap at the wall and hoping something sticks.

i post a motion to re-open this thread, see if we can get jack fate banned off this site.
as a moderator, feel free to re-open it at anytime.

all 3 moderators of this section have asked for the ban, but that was not what the site admin advised at this time.

i only closed it because my fingers were too sticky to manipulate a cursor, and jack was on an insult spree. i was not physically able to keep up. if you feel up to deleting inappropriate comments, as per the site admin, feel free to re-open at anytime.
