well it all comes down to the banking, and if there is no medium of exchange or a severe shortage of it then you got trouble. in this system there is a shortage built into the system from the word go and that is interest. Principle is, Interest is not, and Kings must bow to it.

I live in a small town of 50,000 people in the SE USA. We have two Hardees, two McDonalds, two Burger Kings, one of about 5 major chain restaurants and 12 Mexican Restaurants. Average small southern town.

Last week, my wife was having her birthday, and she collects frogs so I decided to go look for some FROG jewelry for her.
I went to Friedman's Jewelers, but it was closed, out of business. I left and went to Kay's Jewelers, but it was closed. I went then to a phone booth, got a phone book and saw that we had six jewelrey stores in town, and I visited all six and all six were closed, out of business. I then went to JC Pennys, I know they sell jewelry, but it was closed, out of business. I went to Goodys, a big Dept Store in town, but it was closed. Our Kmart closed last year, but Walmart was still opened, and I went there, which turns out to be the only place in town that still sells jewelry, a luxury item.
The Toyota, Nissan, GMC CHEVY- BUICK dealerships all closed last year, leaving empty lots. I then looked at all the closed restuarants. All the individual, private, mom and pop restuarants and small stores are closed in my home town. Many more have announced closings. The PAINT store just closed. 84 Lumber Company just closed. Ruby Tuesdays closed last week. The HONKEYTONK Bar and Grill closed. Thery are talking about closing our big new public library in town. Our ciy is increasing the cost of water and garbage pickup. Who can afford these increases???

When are we going to wake up and realize that our goverment is taking over and socializing everything while our economy dwindles and dwindles.
Remember a few years ago when that big legal whore house in Nevada went bankrupt and our goverment took it over. Well, it is closed down now, our goverment, with all its resources can not even keep a whore house open and making a profit. How is our goverment going to run all of the banks, mortgage companies, car manufacturers etc, when it can not even run a whore house and make a profit???
AND, now it is STATES. California wants a 7 billion dollar bailout. Georgia has a $3 billion dollar deficient and is asking for a 1% sales tax increase. Soon we will see our Fedreal Gov taking over our state goverments. How is that going to work ?

The handwriting is on the wall, friends and we had better read it !

Mmm Hm.. Get the government the f*ck out of everyone's pockets.. I'm so sick of seeing those bastards taking $150-200 a WEEK out of my man's paycheck every f*cking week. That money would be THEE difference.. we'd be owning, not renting.. we'd be buying a new car, not scrapping money together to try and fix our car before it dies.. But no.. they need to keep robbing my family to give the money to fat cats on Wallstreet, jerk offs on welfare, spend money on wars I don't agree with. and other Federal Government black hole programs...

I agree, so far in 14 years, I've paid in about 14 thousand dollars in property tax. Imagine if I would have had that same 14 thousand to apply to my mortgage debt instead? Every year my property tax goes up by a hundred to 2 hundred dollars. Eventually if this keeps up, I'll have to sell out because they are taxing my property right out from under me.

How many people out there lost their homes because they couldn't keep up with the property taxes and the houes payment both?

I haven't, I haven't bought a house yet though, but those property taxes are insane...

$14,000/year?

I thought property taxes were supposed to be a few mills (thousandths of a cent) per $1,000 in value, not $100 per every $1,000 in value, or even $50 per every $1,000 in value.

No in 14 years it adds up to 14 thousand dollars total. It started at about 500 per year but has since doubled and is now way above $1000 per year. When you buy a home for a long term investment it's not paying off anymore.

14 years ago I bought my house for $40 thousand, by the time I live in it for 40 years I will have paid over 40 thousand in just property tax. That means in 40 years I will have paid for the house and then paid the same amount as the house cost in extra taxes.

That's still not right.

Personally, I think there should be no property taxes. It has never striked me as logical to require taxes on something that does not necessarily generate income.

But what can you do?

Crap is what it is, I'm "renting" land that I "own" from the government. Taxing me for the privilage of paying a mortgage.

Every year, I shell out cash and get a "paid" stamp on a piece of paper. I think I'm getting the shaft.......

Well, the information is there anyways.

If someone has time and wants to be enlightened, all one has to do is click on the links, watch and learn. That way its all in one place and the person doesn't have to do much searching around.
