I dont see why you couldnt take some cuttings and just throw them in the aerogarden immediatley....

And if your using foxfarm nutes and have their feeding schedule it lists the amount of nutes to be used for cuttings (clones) which is using the week 1 schedule at I think 1/4 strength...

hey just cause i feel like posting i thought id give an update...
i am down to 2 plants because one was a male (damn) so ive got 2 plants that have been flowering for about 2 weeks now, and they are bushy as hell...but they seem to be doing quite well. i will post some pics...there is one problem that i took care of and that was over nuting...there were brown spots developing on the large fan leaves. they got taken care of though so everything is good now. the plants are about 10 inches tall btw

Sounds nice...

Sorry to hear about the male....But two is better than one!

As you may know I have two now as well....

The smaller one I think could be ready to pick as soon as 1 week!

As for the BIG one I think it has at least 2-4 more weeks

Today is 7 weeks of flowering.......

Btw, i'm on the last 4 weeks of feeding according to foxfarm....

I find that when mixed as suggested with 1 gallon of water that it leaves the PH very low (about 4-5) and takes me about 2-3 tsps of PH raise to get it at about 6-7....

Pics soon...

If your AeroG is on a 12/12 timer and is flowering and you take a cutting from one of your fems and then place it in another slot in the AeroG, wouldn't that hamper the cloned plant vegging and establishing roots? Wouldn't you have to veg for some time, establish roots, and then change lighting sched for flowering? Just a thought. All my "knowledge" is theoretical at this point.

Your right there..... You wouldnt want to place clones in the aerogarden while there are larger plants already in there, especially if its the mothers....

This is because for one the nutes would be out of whack and two the light would be too high and they wouldnt getr enough light....

But I dont see why you couldnt takes clones from the get go and place them in the aerogarden on a 16/8 or more setting, for a week or two ....ya know?

But good thinking

here is my process from start to finish

get some soil-plant seed-when seed is large enough i will take cutting-this cutting will be on 24/24 cycle until roots established-when roots established i will flower immediately-if female i will continue to grow the plant in soil-if male i will kill it and start over (keep in mind that i will be doing 3-4 plants at a time)-with the clone that was female i will kill it just because it will be too large for the rest of the plants-now i will take 4-5 cutting from the single mother and i will root them at the same time-i will let veg for 2 weeks and i will then flower for 6-8-harvest and start my cuttings over again...
this way every 10 weeks i will have about 2 oz...do you think that i could cut this down more, like reduice veg time? maybe just let the roots get established and immediately flower? will i even get that much? but overall with even with some kinks, this seems to be the best plan for this device.

what do you think?

i think its a great idea and i will have so much weed

Well if you want to shorten the total time overall, the only thing you could do is to cut down on the vegging time....

You will have to experiment with the amount of time that you are going to veg your clones....either veg for 1 week, two weeks, or none....

Its all up to you...

Idealy, you want your new clones ready to go into the Aerogarden (to be flowered) as soon as you harvest the first crop from the AG... even on the same day you harvest, you clean out the AG and put new clones in and start them flowering

this way your new clones will already be one week into flowering by the time your freshly harvested buds are dry enough to smoke :)

Hmmm.... i wonder....

Taking the cuttings from a mother that is one week into flowering

Then throwing those straight into the aerogarden and continue to flower?

Could work but would probobly add a week or two to the total amount of normal flowering time...

man, i'll be honest with ya'll. we saw this shit on qvc and picked it up. all we did was put the seeds in and started going for it. made sure female and let them grow. one did good at the gun and we cloned at 4 weeks. another 2 took off a/b 2 weeks later and cloned one. we 'pruned' them? (cut some of the fan leaves off) and they're still alive and kickin it, so basically, i think i need to just sit back for a bit and let the magic work. idk... need some insiiiighht from da mastaz

Trying to upload pics but it aint workin'...I'll keep trying.

Here's my update. Started them on 11/5. Removed the aero standard light and moved it into my grow cabinet on 12/5 (due to my recent acquisition of some real seeds). The uninsulated attic turned out to be too cold so I got a space heater. That wasn't enough to heat the attic...but its enough to heat the cabinet. So, I moved it right in there with the aero, HPS light, and fan. I have a vent hooked up that controlled for temp. I run the fan and the light 12/12 and run the heater the opposite 12/12, so the plants stay warm and cool, when needed. I do keep the vent on almost all the time, with the heater, so it gets fresh air regularly. Measured them today and the biggest is 12 inches. They (7 still growing) are drinking up the water now. They seem to turn the tank over every other day. I may have to rig an auto watering set up, but I think a bit is lost through evaporation when the HPS is on. Though I did have a bit of work getting the right temps consistently, so that may be due more to that than anything else. I took a few pics. The light made them waving, but they're worth posting til I can get a better shot. The tallest is 12 inches, so you can guess on the rest. All these came from bag seed.

On the other seeds, I have them germinating in peat pods. They've worked with other things I've grown and I had some around...wasn't willing to kill off the ones I have growing...so, this seemed like a logical choice. I'm trying out about 7 seeds, just to see what I get. I figure I should be harvesting the current ones by the time those are ready to be transplanted into the aero, and I figure starting by soil now will make the timing right on havest and transplant.
