Types of Belief
Theism is usually used to define Abrahamic faiths and sometimes includes Hinduism. When specifically defined, a "Theist" is someone who believes that there is a mind that is independent of the Universe and usually this is thought to be the creator of everything.
Atheism is a rejection of Theism, or a lack of any belief. In Ancient Greece the word "Atheos" was used to describe Christians and Jewish people who rejected the popular Greek and Roman Gods, but now Atheism has a different meaning and Christians are not considered Atheists.
Deism is the belief that there may be a creator God, but if he created the Universe he did not leave us any rules.
Agnosticism is the statement that you are not sure if a God exists or the belief that you can not know if God exists.
Igtheism means that you have no definition for heaven, hell, spirit world or afterlife. So if anyone wants to talk to you about those things, they would first have to define them for you so you know what they are talking about.
Pantheism is the idea that the Universe is God
Polytheism better describes Hinduism than Theism does. It is where you believe there are multiple Gods, and they are all part of an intricate system of Gods. It can also be Nature based or Pagan, Wiccan, etc. Examples of Polytheism throughout history are Ancient Egypt and Sumeria, Ancient Greece, Ancient Rome and Modern India.
