Just skimmed last few.pages.
First hps sent light goes a lot farther without dropping lumin output.
Cfl have to be a lot closer to maintain the light output.
Another thing is
light specs are used to increase the stage it.is in 3000k minus for flower 5000k plus veg.
The spectrum.and light botb play a roll in thc/growth.
HID you will get more/better yield cause the plant can take in more light in dif spots
T5 alow a lot of light get into the inside of the plant.
CFL need to be moved closer to get inside the plant.
IMO hps.for flower t5 for veg with CFL for.both phases to increase light.
Now this is my understanding from my reading I def can be wrong.
I welcome all respectful opinions! This whole discussion is very awesome. I am definitely not above admitting if I was wrong in any of my assumptions. To err is human

Don't let anyone put you down. You are doing it the right way and to show people that you can get a decent quantity included with quality I am going to pull out my little stealth cab. It's 2 ft by 2 ft by 2 1/2 feet tall. I used to run around 200 actual watts of CFLs in it and with my oNe plant use to get on average a 1.5 -2 oz. not the best in the world but i am getting bored and tired. Need something to give me a challenge. So I am going to pull this little guy back out...clean it add a couple more fans and try for a minimum of .5 per watt. Murshdawg, if you have some good resources n your t5s and or CFLs shoot them my way. Haven't read about those lights in a really long time. If you have some good info to refreshed my memory it would be great.

I have an 8 bulb set up and I do not have those fiji purple lamps... I want to order a couple of reef waves or coral waves by wave point to pick up some IR energy (not enough stretch under these t5 lamps). I have 2 454s two zoo med coral suns (420 nm) 2 red lifes and two 3000k lamps. I keep them at least 6 inches now; because a buddy of mine brought over a light meter and we did some measurments.

Cool. I'll be watching this close. I have 4 8 bulb badboy fixtures and was planning on fucking around with some actinics, red suns and fijis. I got 6 of each.

I wouldn't mind having some of those fijis. Those actinics are freaking awesome! I am thinking about using actinics for my cloning lamp; the plants really seem to love these lamps the only thing I am looking forward to is seeing how they stack up against HPS flowered plants.

I've been vegging under those T5 HO fixtures from home depot with the stockj lights and added in 1 actinic. Plants are growing gangbusters. I do need to keep those no more than 6" from top of canopy.

Gonna flower with the new Badboys and Aqurium lights starting next week. Gonna run a total of 12-16 bulbs and build a nice Par spectrum. We shall see how it goes!

Hey Dawg, Ya got too much red goin on in there for stretch. Replace the Red Lifes/3000K with UVL Aqua Sun (or equivalent) , and raise the fixture ~ 6-10" above the canopy

And forget the fijis. Not worth the money for something we don't know the spectrums. Hyroot says its mostly blue, not purple, meaning it has little to no red

The red might not be visible to the eye. The glass itself might not be tinted red like the red suns.
