Switching from MH to HPS when changing light cycle. Opinions?

I just flipped the light cycle to 12/12 a few days ago and was planning on leaving the MH in until flowering erupted to reduce the stretch. I am however in a time crunch right now and was wondering if anyone knows or has opinions on whether the HPS will kick the girls into flowering a lot faster if I just change the bulb now? Or any other benefits?

I ran some HID versus HPS tests awhile back. I used two HID's for each HPS because they are dimmer. LOTS dimmer.

The results were a week faster buds under the HID and almost as large.

If the HID is the same wattage as the HPS, the plant gets only 2/3 the light.
Nothing is gained by less light, even if it is better light.

hmmm, Are you talking about a metal halide bulb versus the HPS? I dont know if you understood my question, I plan on flowering with my hps but still have my MH running during the transition to prevent stretch, but was wondering if the HPS would jump start the flowering process or is thats just a hippies tale.
