Surprised to see Hlg slumming it.

I know who you are referring to and whilst I am flattered to be confused with Teknik the truth is I am just not as smart as him, I have seen the equipment he uses on LED Gardener and I would love to own something that sophisticated.
Been lurking between here LED Gardener and Grass City for about a year now but those $29 quantum boards caught my eye and I thought it was about time to sign up.
I know who you are too, I have seen the way you bait and troll people and I want no part of any of your games. I will be blocking you as soon as I work out how to do it.
Hover your pointer over the person who you wish to block then click on Ignore.

N.B. I'm not blocking/ignoring you. Since you asked the question I figured it would be polite to demonstrate using your avatar.

Sorry, but one last thing, because it has bugged me since I replied: Where is your proof that "What most do not realize is Spider Farmer is Mars Hydro...... They send this stuff straight to a Amazon warehouse from China." IMHO opinion SF is vastly superior in design and execution than any Mars crap I've seen. Meaning: if they have that superior talent, why are they making crap under the Mars name? AND, why would you throw that out here without providing proof? Not doing so, calls your credibility into serious question

As I said before, this aside, I do think you are onto something with you flower enhancing bar. BUT, if you cannot prove SF=Mars, then you're just another BS artist in an ocean of them, and cannot be trusted

Rant Over

Lol I know for an absolute fact. Calling me a BS artist is hilarious. I can't be trusted? I'm not sure you know my reputation very well. Also your opinion of me doesn't concern me in the least. If I'm not mistaken I do believe we were one of if not the first company in this whole industry to post 3rd party results of thier lights at stabilized temps at system level tested by a DOE certified lab.

Plant is really liking this 500w Enhanced QB set-up. Boards are a total of 350w. May have posted this already. Don't remember.
Waiting on the FR stick/QB-3 Drivers. Still have x4, QB-3's to install. 20200312_141430.jpgThere's another 96 Elite 320 to the far right. Will be placed over the plant soon. I let them grow into the intensity & never move the lights up or down so sometimes I'll have to go far to the side. 20200312_141445.jpg
Reducing early flower intensities have played a big role in having healthier plants w/o defficencies or whatever.

people still dont know any better though.
I have to tell people their amazon blurple they just bought is trash nearly daily.
Always makes me think about how many people are out there just struggling along with blurples wondering why their shit sucks.
I’m not going to hop into a fight here. Lol. This is ridiculous all the fighting. Blurples are plain trash. That is correct. They can get an ok yield, but the entire concept of blurples is silly.

The concept of 40% Burple 60% white sounds real good though! And puts out some sexy nuggs!
Better yet just a Broad-Band white. They're on their way to being made now.

Wish Green genes could learn from the way you respond to people. Very professional and you leave out the cussing and name-calling too, which is a bonus. ;-)

What? Did he have some vanta black walls in that tent or something? Mylar is 98% reflective. You could say 2% is being absorbed by the walls, sure, but 98% is being reflected back inside, how would you lose half the light from 98% reflective walls..
...
First of all that 98% is only when it's perfectly flat and clean. You'd be lucky to get 90% after installing and 80% after one grow.

That's also one of the missed issues with reflectors on leds. They work decently when they are clean out of the box, but after one grow they lose ton of reflectiveness. So reflectors clean out of the box you'd get 7 to 8% more light by using bare COBs (comparing bare and "reflectored" at the correct height for same uniformity). Then the reflectors get dirty and you lose another 15% or worse. In total you could have had 24% more light on the plants with bare COBs then.

Even if we take the 98% at face value. This 98% figure is total reflection. Now a portion of that will be diffuse reflection. Diffuse reflection scatters in all directions. Which means half of it will be reflected upwards, back to the light or ceiling. This light does not reach your plants. It's what lights up the ceiling of your tent. That's all lost to the plants. Even though technically it was reflected, but it will be absorbed after enough bounces.

In fact if you look inside your tent and you see the walls looking really bright. Do you think that light that hit your eyes would have been on it's way to your plants? Assuming your eyes are above plant level, the answer would be no. It's a bad trick that light plays on our minds. The lighter the walls look the more light is bouncing in the wrong directions.

So that potentially can already lose you half your light.

Either way. It's measurable effect. Create (or use someone else's) PPFD measurements matrix and sum it up to get an estimate of the total amount of umol/s detected over the measured floor. For instance, take the average PPFD and multiply by total floor surface area. Now compare that to the amount of light which was supposed to be emitted by the fixture.

What most do not realize is Spider Farmer is Mars Hydro...... They send this stuff straight to a Amazon warehouse from China. They can sell this stuff super cheap because thier predatory government subsidizes them 20%. All while I pay taxes on my inventory every year let alone corporate tax and then my personal income tax. American companies cost of doing business is a lot higher than China. Then you wonder why you can't find a living wage job.......

Also there are millions of rejected LEDs sold on the Chinese black market every day. So saying it's the same thing isn't true.

We are innovating. The Rspec is about 1 year old. We have a DE replacement coming this month that is 2.8 umol/j+ and a rack light in 2-3 months that will crack 3.0 umol/j. No our rack light isn't a bar light either. Only hold up on rack light is drivers.

We could have kept building our boards in China like the very early days but instead we took the leap of faith, borrowed nearly a million dollars, bought the equipment to build it right here in the US and created good paying jobs. Before we did that we signed a multimillion dollar P.O. with a US manufacturer in Michigan not knowing if we would go bankrupt or what. We hadn't even sold 2k boards at that point. You wanna talk about risk. I poured every last dollar to my name into this company to the point I was behind on my house payment. So no I do not feel one bit guilty about throwing shade at some Chinese company that rips our product off, uses our product name to drum up business. Spider Farmer lies about thier efficiency, they lied and said ETL certified when it was not. They used quantum board over and over when we asked them nicely to stop several times. So yeah I don't care much for MARS HYDRO/SPIDER FARMER

We innovative they imitate. Sure we have to stop companies from using our trademark. Hell China was printing our name on boards and selling them. People would call for warranty service and it wasn't even our stuff. It hurts us if someone buys a "Quantum Board" and it has inferior LEDs on it or burns out early.

Not one single person here would feel any different if they came out with a product to only get copied by the Chinese.
I work in the high-end AV industry and I've seen the same thing happen with control systems where Chinese companies not only copied their processors and touch panels, but they even went as far as copying the proprietary software that is used to program the systems. It honestly baffles me that the US still trades with China when they are known for doing this.

I've been trying to explain this to all the Meiju and Kingbrite shills on Reddit for they last year but it seems like most people just don't give a crap anymore when they can save a buck. It's pretty sad, but I can somewhat understand those who do buy the cheap knockoffs when they can't afford HLG in their budget.

What I don't understand are those who flat out lie and try to convince people they are the same (or better) as HLG. I've been wanting to get the HLG-550 for my 4x4 tent and it was difficult for me to avoid the temptation to try one of the knock-offs at first. But then I realized it would only set me back from buying what I really want so I'm just sticking to my cheap Amazon COB lights until I'm ready to spend the money on the HLG-550.

Will these be more expensive (per watt) than your current setups? Or will they be more in-line with pricing the current setups would drop a bit in pricing?
Come to the dark side. Build a strip light. But seriously, can imagine your experiences with fanboys on reddit and love for cheap chinese.

I like the question you asked @Stephenj37826.
They have to innovate and improve, and get their prices in check to gain back headway made by the copycats. The market is so big over on the NA continent, I can only see benefit and growing brand loyalty for them if they do.

I will, more than likely, go the DIY route with their lights since I have some background in electronics. The only thing that's been holding me back is cash flow.
