Stupid question please help though

Im sure this has been answered or the answer is obvious but i cut a branch that had broken in a strom and dryed it and am now 3 days into curring and burping it in the jar but when i picked it the smell was great it smelled like weed but now it smells kinda like hey so im just wondering if i did it wrong and ruined it or if it will go back to smelling good??

Generally speaking at first it will smell like hay until the chlophyll evaperates, full cure will take at least a month or more ( the longer the better ) and eventually it will begin to smell more like good buds. Try to aim for 55% to 60% dryness....just my opinion.
