This is what im saying. Your sitting on your couch your not prepared.........The guys kicking in your door with guns IN HAND are prepared and you lost already.

Guns are false sence of SECURITY they are tools but they are limited because they depend on the BULLET. Kinda how society depends on the ol mighty dollar the gun needs the bullet otherwise its deemed usless.

You see you THINK you are prepared sitting on your couch but in reality your not unless you sit arround with a bullet proof vest of all day with a rifle at your side at all times you are not as prepared as the people kicking in your door because they had planed before hand while you where sitting down on the couch as you said.

What if the bad guys decided not to use your doors, but rater made their own rules on where doors should be?

Remember, its all about getting a getting a jump on the bad guys.

The numbers are in our favor.

The right to keep and bare arms was so that if the fed gov became tyrannical, usurping the rights of the people- the people could - with force- remove the tyrant(s).
Self protection inside and outside the home was also an original concept within that right.
It also dealt with the moral nature of the person. In this day morals are not what they used to be. Most lawful gun owners are moral. Many unlawful gun owner are not.

BTW a moral gun owner is one that finds it reprehensible to use a gun in order to disparage the life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness of another. An immoral gun owner will use it at whatever whim motives him or her.
Those people need to be cuffed and stuffed in a harsh way.

Isn't there some country in the Netherlands that has the highest gun ownership and the lowest crime?
Isn't that the same country whose government issues firearms after mandatory training for every citizen?

Switzerland is one. There may be another but education is a fantastic thing! And an excellent point !

Awesome point! Awareness and alertness are necessary, regardless of what kind of weapon or training you have. Having cameras and monitors, and being MENTALLY prepared, would put you in a better spot if somebody came to kick in your door, with you on the couch. Knowing what to do, and practicing it (like a fire drill) so when the time comes, your adrenaline doesn't make you panic, is essential to any self defense strategy.

What if instead of kicking in the doors, the bad guys kept you inside long enough to get real nice and panicked up.
Then, they decided to mosey on in through the new hole in your roof.

You got 20 seconds, GO!!!

I've more than surprised at the level of wisdom, knowledge and moral integrity found in and within so many people on this site.
Some of the best 'reasoned' thoughts, insight and comments I've ever read on the many forums my hubby and I peruse.

I would go stick a knife in my attic door to lock it....Matter o fact imma go do that now anyways because attics are wierd good call.

If someone kicked down my front door and I was sitting on the couch I would be in the family room or my bedroom ( we have a sofa in my living room but my darn wife don't allow NOBODY in there..lol..) ...If I was in the family room well thats were I have my case for my Browning 625 ( got a good deal on that for 1800 ) so I would hate to see someone face that in close quarters..If am in my bedroom on the couch and someone kick in my door OMG you really don't want me to be there I got one mean bitch in that area...hallway going to bathroom and bedrooms has a bookshelve with a little surprise at top....now in my basement you got me, but you also got my dogs...hmmmmm so you take your chances and I will take my guns ..thank you very much....
