Well I had a hell of a week last week. My 12 year old son fell off his skateboard without a helmet. Fractured his skull, a vertabrae and had two brain bleeds. He was flown to a San Diego children's hospital where he spent 4 days in the ICU. The bleeds stopped without surgery. The vertabrae was only a compression crack. His speech is slurred and delayed a little so he needs some speech therapy but he's improving every day and the docs predict him to fully recover. It was definitely the hardest thing I've gone through in my life. The first 48 hours were just a waiting and praying game. Here's a CT of his skull from the top, face aiming down. He's lucky to be alive, but being a 12 year old boy he doesn't quite grasp that. His mother and I do though! IMG_1162.JPG

Thanks guys! He came home on a saturday and I was yelling at him by sunday :) Its been another week. So he still has a little stutter, maybe once every couple minutes. For therapy he's supposed to stop and say the word slower until he's able to get it. Well he's a kid and doing something like that draws attention to it and he doesn't want that and I get it. I say what he's doing is adapting. Being that he's a smart little fucker with a large vocabulary, instead of trying to sound out the word right he'll just stutter it a couple times and then use a synonym. He's cheating and I'm ok with it cuz its working for him and every day its a little better. Kids are a trip. Shit doesn't phase them the same. Its like ok lets go.
