Spicysativa's Cheese Quake Grow

Thanks, man!

I'm pretty excited about how these are turning out. Plant #1 (the cheesiest) doesn't look like its going to yield very fat, but the calyxes are starting to turn a deep purple color, and the smell is really unique. Plant #3 looks like its going to yield the most, and seems to have a nice balance between the two parents.

It's going to be tough to select a keeper from this round because they weren't grown to their full potential. I may end up keeping more than one and trying again after my next round (XJ-13).

They look awesome dude.... You did an awesome job, I'm envious and hope mine look as good when they're at the point yours are.... I run 1k's and yours look as meaty as anything I've ever grown under those... so dont think you did to bad but I agree with you on everything can be improved and usually round 2 is where you see what each pheno/strain is about... I am only in the 20's as far as days of 12/12 and I'm already trying to size up which 2 out of 9 plants/phenos to grow next round. That is definitely the hardest part of this one so far as well, which ones to do again... If I was as smart as I typed I would have only cracked 5 beans of 1 strain and did it like a smart gardener like yourself but I was worried about not getting enough fems and I got too many.

But again spicy, you did good man....be proud those are looking sexy as hell.....

Not sure if you're in a medical state or not, do you plan to get any lab testing done after harvest?
I am in a medical state, but I don't put much stock in lab testing of MJ. It's an entirely unregulated industry, and I have yet to see any QA/QC info related to MMJ testing. In my day job, I work very closely with analytical labs, and they all are held to very tight standards. They do things like analyze method blanks, method spikes, and duplicates tto show that their equipment is working properly. GC/MS equipment is very finicky, and will throw results that are WAY off if they are not cleaned, calibrated, and maintained properly. I just don't see an unregulated "underground" industry putting out all the effort necessary to ACTUALLY provide legitimate results.

Hmm... The buds on Plant #1, the tallest and cheesiest, have started to stretch a little. It's like the tiny stems between the calyxes are lengthening. Temps and humidity are in check, so that's not the cause. I'm not too worried about it because Plant #1 is not likely a keeper for me anyway just based on its grown pattern and bud development.

I noticed this bud stretching in my Pandora's Box last round, and it was most prevalent on the phenos which threw out the most male flowers. That part makes me worry a little bit, but I have not seen any nanners or developing seeds.

Any of you experienced this bud stretching? I'm not talking fox tailing or dreading, just loosening of the buds.

my two females went hard into pre-flower before i brought them inside. the cheese leaning one looked like it was acting similarly to how you describe. my buddy is predicting it will herm. we shall see...

Interesting...
Ya, it just looks fishy to me... Seeing female calyxes that look like they are on little stems like a male flower is odd... I'll see if I can get a good photo of it.

Well... Sure as shit... I just found a single male flower on Plant #1.

Unimpressed... but hopefully I'm far enough along that it wont be an issue. Today is day 52.

Second round with seeds, second crop with male flowers. Go figure.

Minimal nanners at the end isn't quit as bad, but can still be an issue with pollen for the other ladies in the room...

Either way for me, I would ditch it and continue the pheno hunt homie. Any male flowers are unwelcome in my garden!

Ya, not keeping that pheno. I guess I'll just ride it out for the next week and a half or so and hope it doesn't do too much damage? It'd be a shame to pull it early when it's so close...

I wish I knew what it is about my technique or my cab that makes TGA seeds want to spit male flowers... Seems like other folks have better luck with it than me. Weird part is, I have no problems growing clones, even TGA Space Queen clones from the dispensary.

Like I said the only stress at this point would be pollinating other ladies in the cab causing them to spit more developed male flowers....not good.
With your cab, do you have drastic temp fluctuations, light leaks, any other stresses you know of??

No light leaks, 77* lights on, 65-70* lights off, 40-50% RH.

I've locked myself in the cab for about 15 minutes, and it was BLACK.

The only stress I can think of would be the nutrient lockout I had, but Plant #1 was actually the least affected by it.

I just don't know...

Maybe it's just the phenos you are working with...maybe it's time to make another seed order and start your hunt again. That way you have something a little less llikely to throw male flowers...

its just the natural response to reproduce and seed, just some obviously less than others. If they wanna waste there time producing seeds, than resin, terps, and flower production seem to go on the back burner.

Well, next round is XJ-13 from clone, which I have successfully grown in this same cab (and I love it!).

Gotta be honest I'm a little skeptical about buying another pack of TGA seeds. I've only bought two packs (Pandora's Box and now Cheese Quake), but they have both spewed male flowers. This round it's only 1 out of 4 (so far), last round was 4 out of 4, and MUCH worse. I ended up with piles and piles of larfy/seedy/fluffy budlets.

I'm really happy with the way a couple of these Cheese Quakes are turning out and I plan I keep at least one momma from this round. But...If I have to cull several herm-prone plants to find a keeper, I might be better off looking elsewhere.

DISCLAMER: I'm well aware that these problems are my own, and I don't place any blame on TGA Genetics. Many people grow TGA successfully, but for some reason they don't seem to jive with my setup and technique.

Yeah that's too bad....at least you got something you've run and enjoy on your next round. The 2 5 packs I bought provided two different CQ $ QT phenos with ZERO male flowers!! Just the luck of the draw I guess, but I wouldn't give up hope with the TgA gear!!

Wish I knew what the problem was... I think after this XJ-13 run I will pick up some Chernobyl clones from the dispensary, and maybe run a couple clones from my Cheese Quake keeper (likely Plant #3).

Just checked on the cab... My favorite pheno is spewing multiple male flowers right out of the top of the fattest cola.

Unimpressed....

fuck man, that really sucks, I dont know what it could be, and I havent had any problems with TGA gear hermie-ing, are you going to kill it or let it grow out and harvest some fem seeds?
