Speed seeds?

Bump. Currently have three AK autos from Speed Seeds going, and the fourth and largest being AK Auto from BlimBurn. This picture is about 20 days (At the end of week four now) and i had a few questions. Can i actually expect these to be done six weeks from now for a 10-11 week total grow time? They were switched to bloom nutes today, Technaflora B.C. Boost and B.C.Bloom. The BlimBurn AK says it's a three-month plant, and they're almost the same genetics. Is Speed Seeds simply putting lower times/yields to make the seed look more viable to growers, or perhaps when hey say "harvest 65-70" days they actually mean flowering time? Either way, hope I'm not too late for this one. CAM00911.jpg

Hey ServingSize,

I can't see a reason why they wouldn't finish all in a 10-11 week time frame. I think first and foremost all plants work pretty much on their own time frame. Keep a close eye on them for signs of maturity as in yellowing fans and amber/milky trichoms. I personally let my autos go as long as they need to(or any plant for that matter). I prefer a more "narcotic" effect, or if you will, a more "body buzz" type high. The earlier you harvest the more "intense/heady" stone you will end up with. These are things you probably already know. So I guess to answer your question, my guess is that they should finish about the same time(their genetics are fairly similar), just keep in mind the above text I mentioned. Your plants look amazing by the way! Let me know how they turn out, I have an AK bean from Speed Seeds kicking around, right now I'm busy with training a Nordic Jack photo.

Hope this helps,

Thanks Sherman. Yes I agree about harvesting more on the late side of things for that effect, my first three grows were all Northern Lights x Haze and I tried to let them all get to about 10% amber or more. I'll definitely post the results of the Speed AK as well as the BlimBurn and a comparison.

Would like to know how funk they get during flowering. Is it really as stinky as advertised? Is it even realistic to think you can grow that strain stealth?

Hey Bullet,

In my experience, they all smell. I just grew a Diesel auto that was only ten inches tall but the smell from this little girl was something else. Thank god I have a carbon filter. The Northern Light auto I grew also stunk to high heaven. Be safe, spend the money on a fan and filter. A couple of hundred buck's is better than some asshole ruinning everything for you over a plant. And it does happen, some people just can't mind their own buisness.

Peace,

I hear ya man. I run both a carbon filter and an air purifier to minimize odours. I ask because i live in a very urban environment in one of the U.S's most populous cities/. With that being said there isn't as much privacy as most people are probably used to so i am extra vigiliant in that manor and try to avoid very stinky strains. I agree the first strain i grew was NL auto. All these people that say "it doesn't smell at all during flowering" BS, it's a marijuana plant, it will stink regardless of what strain it is lol.

BTW was the diesel , speed seed's diesel auto? If so how was the smoke? I have a tiny speed seeds NYC Diesel that i threw in a half quart pot along with my purple cheese just for shits and giggles because i wanted to give this breeder a shot. Should be cutting down both plants in about a week and a half or so.

If you're talking about growing Northern Lights x Haze I had three plants at one time and with no filter in an apartment with no problem, but they were also very small plants.

So far the AK47 auto is at Day 33 from seed and it already smells. You need a filter lol.

Hey Bullet,

Yeah the Diesel autoflower was from Speed Seeds. She was tiny, not surprising though seeing she was crossed with a Lowryder #2. I found her to be a handful to grow, just a pain in the ass, always deficient in something no matter what I did. But beautiful though, late in flower she turned purple. Very potent smoke, she was full of fruity smelling resin. She yielded just over one ounce dried. Here's some pictures, I probably already posted these, but oh well.

Yeah I was thinking my plants were going to be tiny because of the Lowryder in them as well like those, but then I ended up with these monsters on Day 34. I guess i did something right

Hey Folks, newbie here...just soaking 2 Speed diesel, 2 Speed Skunk, and 2 Speed Amnesia. I've never done a grow journal but will try to show some progress. I've grown a few plants in the past outside/inside, these I would like to grow inside for 3-4 weeks then outside they go for an early spring grow (Upper Midwest here...)

Cheers

This winter I did a micro grow of Speed's Domina x Rosetta Stone.....netted about 40g's dry from 2 plants, 2 different pheno's...with one being smaller and not very bushy but both turned out nice.....EXTREMELY dank during flowering and drying/curing, very nice evening smoke. I was impressed overall, nice bud structure, stayed low (LST helped), and was coated with resin. My wife won't let me open the jar in the house, it's some wild smelling bud...

Cheers

Hey Westy,

I hear ya. That little Diesel auto pictured above was really strong smelling as well. Poor little girl was plagued with problems from the get go. She had a massive phosphorous deficiency I just couldn't seem to repair. Being an auto they just don't give you that window of opportunity to correct imbalances. I learned alot from that grow. Even though the yield was small, pound for pound some of the best bud I have grown. Very sweet/citrus smelling buds covered in resin. Mega stinky when you open the jar.

Peace,

Hey Folks,
Speed Mix 2.jpg
I had all 6 of the Speed Seeds germ (so along with the earlier Rosetta Stone x Domina that's 100%), but one of the diesel's didn't really grow so I chucked it...here's my 5 babies going now. The 2 on the left are Skunk #1, middle is the diesel, right side 2 are Amnesia, they sprouted in water on April 7th, popped out of the soil on the 12th, and here we are today...they are starting to take off. They have had no nutes and are in Happy Frog soil....transplant in about 2 weeks should be good (just drop the cup into 3 gal bucket with Super Soil....I will keep you posted.

Cheers

Hey Westy,

Looking good. I have an Amnesia and an AK47 just peeking through the soil, they are Auto's and also from Speed Seeds. I'm going to be placing them outdoor's in a couple of week's as soon as it warm's up a bit more. This will be my first time trying Auto's outdoor's. Looking forward to it. I'll keep you posted on my progress.

Good Luck,

First time i ever grew an auto outside (G13 Labs Pineapple Express) , spider mites were all over it..first time ive ever had an issue with any plant in this manor (ive had a deer & cow nibble afew fan leaves but other then that never an issue). I also fed it nutes, learned later you shouldnt feed your auto's anything but water. needless to say I will never try another auto ever again..just throwing that out there for anyone to keep an eye on them.

Well, here's an update on my Speed Seeds....according to my calendar these are 33 days old and starting to take off some. I germed April 7th, sprouts on the 11th, moved outside April 28th after 2 weeks of 18/6 CFL's. They are in super soil and 3 gallon Smart Pots...weather has been kind of crappy early in the spring here but is improving (a few nights in for frost fear), other than that, just rainwater. I will add some tea's later, just worm castings, compost, molasses, and bubble it for a few days. All organic.....Later.2015-05-15_16-09-52_38.jpg2015-05-15_16-10-05_225.jpg 2015-05-15_16-10-15_147.jpg 2015-05-15_16-10-24_664.jpg 2015-05-15_16-10-31_627.jpg 2015-05-15_16-16-03_139.jpg 2015-05-15_16-16-17_329.jpg
