So I made myself some CalPhos...

Oh and I miscounted the day yesterday, actually that was day 55.

So here she is, at day 56, standing 98cm tall in her 40L pot and set to finish in the next 2 weeks or so, with 200W running 18/6.

She'll be getting a fruit smoothie in the course of the week for her budness, otherwise only water anymore.

In other news, the replacement worms for the first DOA ones are happy and active as anything and are going to make me some good castings in no time. :D
In case anyone in Mideurope reads this: wurmwelten.de was the source for the worms, I can recommend :)

2016-11-06 (2).JPG

I'm really liking having the worms in a wooden container too.
There seems to be no danger whatsoever of the bin ever going anaerobic due to excess humidity, while it doesn't dry out overly quickly either. In the 3 weeks it's been going, I've misted the bin 2x, and I soak new bedding to ~50% moisture (squeeze method) before adding it.
This was the first feeding, half gone on Oct 26, where the original bedding is still nicely visible:
2016-10-26 (4).JPG

I added cut-up leaves from the sour stomper on top of a fresh layer of cardboard today, after soaking for a while (I poured the greenish water from the soak back into the sour stomper's soil - a little chlorophylll water on the side can't do any harm ;) )
2016-11-06 (3).JPG

Actually I've been thinking of soaking the bedding and leaving it to sit for a few days in general before adding it in, especially when I mix cardboard and leaves. My initial bedding came alive in the week it waited for the second round of worms to arrive, so if we're letting the feed begin decomposing before we add it, why not the bedding too?

Another thing I've been observing. There's always this panic about seeds not getting taken care of in the wormbin? But I see them sprouting in there and then disappearing. So it looks like by having seeds in my bedding/feeds, I am actually adding sprouts to the mix, which is a great thing considering their nutritional value! :bigjoint:

What makes me even happier is that these wormcasts look like they're going to be nicely fungal. I collected some castings that had fallen into the drip tray (which is just moist btw, no runoff!) in the hope of perhaps making a tea. I'm saying it's not quite ready yet, since I saw a paramecium and a few ciliates.

BUT! despite having to dilute 10x, as the castings were so thick there was way too much debris at the usual 5x, I saw 6 nematodes and quite a few protozoans at work in there, and at least 1 bit of fungal strand in every field. Here's an impression from a cluster of different kinds of fungi:

Yay! Can't wait to get those into my soil! haha

http://www.alcanada.com/index_htm_files/564-pH_in_Spray_Solutions.pdf

here's some ph of foliar spray notes from IC or something. they mention they get best results of phosphate when spray is 3.0-3.6 i thinkis was it said. i

just sprayed a pH 4 onion and ghost pepper ferment. i havent done a 100% ferment sprayed before other than plain kombucha which ph'd 2-3 if i recall. it worked suprisingly well without frying leaves off.

so if you're leaves are getting burnt it's likely nutrient or temp related.

this wasn't necessarily in response to your leaf tips but just a general cal phos tip :weed:.

hope you had a great weekend!

Here she is, Milady Sour Stomper on day 62
She got her last goodie in the form of a persimmon-tomato smoothie (which doesn't water in well at all lol) today, all water from here, and is starting to fatten up her buds now
2016-11-11_d62 (2).JPG

She's entered the phase where I keep saying "1-2 weeks till chop", so, 1 to 2 weeks till chop I think! :bigjoint:

It's incredible how this plant develops just the perfect structures at the perfect time.
The stems for example, yes they began stiffening towards the end of the stretch already, but now they have become sturdy and springy, effortlessly holding their respective positions even with the buds becoming heavier.

Beautiful!

Hey I found some considerations on The Logical Gardener regarding Calphos that made me end up tossing my experiment. Not all is lost, mixed the solids from the egg shells and bone meal into used coffee grinds and will use that as a layered topdress for my worm bin after spraying with LAB. Here is the thread: https://logicalgardener.org/viewtopic.php?f=24&t=270&hilit=Calphos
Ah looks like a read for another day haha!
Thanks for reminding me of those eggshells, I'll add mine to the next feeding :bigjoint:

She looks delicious and a great structure! It's a shame that you will be chopping her in the next couple of weeks/ish, she'd have made a perfect Christmas tree! Stick a few baubles on her and a star on top of that main cola!! :P

lmao you'll be a rich man by the end of the year! Unless someone copies the suing part too! :P

btw the same happens when I follow the link in your sig to your thread - yeah it's fucked up for sure! I'm defaulting to checking my followed threads list, actually it gives a better overview than the single notifications, especially when someone reads your thread top to toe and is enjoying themselves lol
--- and that is soo ungrammatical but sounds acceptable in the light that One Must Not Gender? roflmao wasn't intentional, which is even worse!

Hey Araunda!
So I finally got round to perusing the thread you posted, and especially on page 2!
How what gets exctracted from the eggshells isn't worth the hazard of that acetic acid - for its possible damage on leaves, also on the microherd.
Hmmmmm....
That fits so well with what I saw happen in the course of this grow! May not all be the "CalPhos"'s fault, but tendentially...

Soooo, in future,
Eggshells --> wormbin --> wormcasts -->soil
Thats it ;)
Simple wins, every time, YAY :bigjoint:
Cheers!

Here she is at day 73
2016-11-22_d73 (1).JPG
Setting to foxtail a bit, I think she's pretty much done.
If I go by my indicator leaf (my bet was she'll be done when the leaf is leached out hehe), she has another 2 days or so
2016-11-22_d73 (2).JPG

Main cola top
2016-11-22_d73 (4).JPG

and side bud
2016-11-22_d73 (3).JPG

But I don't like how the tops are in the heat, gives me the feeling they're getting fried, which turns out to be partially true, looking at the trichs.

Top trichs on upside of a sugar leaf
2016-11-22_trich-tops (4).jpg
Whilst on the underside they still are juicy (actually, more clear trichs on the upstairs buds than downstairs)
2016-11-22_trich-tops (3).jpg

And the larf trichs showing lots of cloudiness...
2016-11-22_trich-larf (3).jpg 2016-11-22_trich-larf (4).jpg 2016-11-22_trich-larf (5).jpg

Haven't watered her, may chop her today.
Or I may just take the main cola and let the rest go till indicator leaf says :bigjoint:
What would you guys do?
Cheers!

And this is what happened
View attachment 3837178
Took her down by a good 25cm, 280g wet :bigjoint:

6 secondary branches are left, and about 2/3 of the total bud mass (eyeballed by 2 people).

They go when the indicator leaf says chop, which wil probably be within the next 2 days :weed:
She looks amazing! And wow you just totally chopped her out of no where! Like, off you fuck main tops you're getting hung! Haha
What is your prediction on yield?! She looks big!
I'm saying 189 grams!
