I just did a search on PubMed for CBD and Alzheimer's

it spit out 9 results

This paper looks interesting (I just DL'ed it through the University). I'll let you know if I find something of value in it.

The Role of the Endocannabinoid System in Alzheimers Disease: Facts and Hypotheses

Unlike other neuroinflammatory disorders, like Parkinson's disease, Huntington's disease and multiple sclerosis, little is still known of the role of the endocannabinoid system in Alzheimer's disease (AD). This is partly due to the poor availability of animal models that are really relevant to the human disease, and to the complexity of AD as compared to other neurological states. Nevertheless, the available data indicate that endocannabinoids are likely to play in this disorder a role similar to that suggested in other neurodegenerative diseases, that is, to represent an endogenous adaptive response aimed at counteracting both the neurochemical and inflammatory consequences of beta-amyloid-induced tau protein hyperactivity, possibly the most important underlying cause of AD. Furthermore, plant and synthetic cannabinoids, and particularly the non-psychotropic cannabidiol, might also exert other, non-cannabinoid receptor-mediated protective effects, including, but not limited to, anti-oxidant actions. There is evidence, from in vivo studies on beta-amyloid-induced neurotoxicity, also for a possible causative role of endocannabinoids in the impairment in memory retention, which is typical of AD. This might open the way to the use of cannabinoid receptor antagonists as therapeutic drugs for the treatment of cognitive deficits in the more advanced phases of this disorder. The scant, but nevertheless important literature on the regulation and role of the endocannabinoid system in AD, and on the potential treatment of this disorder with cannabinoids and endocannabinoid-based drugs, are discussed in this mini-review.
Awesome, Heckler. +rep...

Yeah Paki's are good with the colours and 'up' indica highs, but a true Afghanica is as potent as any hashplant. Those seeds from your mate should be good, how many seeds do you have?.
Here's a Tashkent 7 weeks in, it was only a mother with little shoots after being used for cuttings. This has far more Hash producing potential than a raw afghan I used to have. Real Hashplants don't usually yield too much anyway. Hey have you tried the Lebanese from the real seed company? man I'd kill for some red leb hash

td,

Wow that Mango Haze have 8-10% cbd! I didn't even know about this seed company; a Jorge Cervantes and Mr Nice collaboration! definite quality genetics then.
Look at Malawi from Ace seeds, It will yield far more than critcal mass but will take longer to flower. I find THCV to be very interesting, especially the african genetics.
Thanks, ck420...

Don't know about Alzheimers, although i have done security in a retirement home and know that shit has got to be rough as fuck! :/ I'm glad it seems to make a positive improvement!

My mother has smoked since like the early 70's off/on. She fully supports me growing illegally, and she has glaucoma, I hook her up every time i crop out, it lasts her forever since she is a light weight like me. I hope this brings you many more great conversations amigo!

Thanks, Snake! Much appreciated, and thanks for sharing. It's nice to hear of others with similar experiences. We just smoked up a few minutes ago, and we're pleasantly baked. We shut of the TV and are chillin' to some music...

Bodhi seeds has just released the Harlequin strain that was clone-only for a long time, it is a 5-10%CBD and very little THC strain.
Good luck to you Tyler!

I found some information on dosage guidelines. Now these come that 2011 study, Cannabidiol and Other Cannabinoids Reduce Microglial Activation
In Vitro and In Vivo: Relevance to Alzheimer’s Disease,
and they are using rats so it isn't a perfect number.

20mg/kg of CBD, daily for a week, then 3x per week for two weeks (after which, they were "sacrificed").
But consider that dose...20mg/kg
If plant matter is 5%CBD, and someone weighs 75kg, that equates to 1.5g of CBD per dose or 30g of dry material !!!!
You aren't going to get that from smoking; it needs to be concentrates.
I guess that's why the Simpson Oil users work up to eating a gram of oil (or more) a day.

Anyway, in the study the effect of CBD (and these other agonists, which can essentially be considered THC, for the most part) is pronounced, but it is not a cure by any means. However, they are inducing severe conditions in these rats, so perhaps it is a control that pushes the time-frame out so far that other problems of aging are more likely to be expressed in lieu of the Alzheimer's. This is just speculation on my part, though.

Thanks, Heckler! Nice find. I hear you on the effective dosages implied in that study. I've read studies of MMJ's effects on long time, heavy smokers and they indicated that there seemed to be so many apparent benefits and protections from the cannabinoids ingested. These subjects weren't smoking an ounce per day, I'm sure ;) Even if it only helps ease her arthritis or her anxiety, and helps her sleep, that's enough for me right now. If it helps delay the Alzheimer's at all, it'll be icing on the cake...

Yeah I love the Pakistani plants for their colors, smells, and the "up" indica high. But I find afghans more relaxing and sleepy. I am very excited about the two seedlings and I will be postings pictures of the afghans soon. My plants are now recovering from mealy bugs so I will be posting pictures of my Taskenti as she grows some more. I was given 5 seeds of the afghan and when I planted the 2 they cracked and sprouted quickly, so I have a good feeling about them. Your Taskenti is looking lovely! How does she smell? I have not tried the lebanese from them, I have tried to find all their strains but they do not bend to other seedbanks (at least I haven't found any) plus they won't ship to the USA, so I am missing out. I want Lebanese red so badly. Also their Sinai from Egypt looked interesting. Have you tried any of their strains?

The doses used in experiments like this are usually high, too. After all, they are doing ground-breaking work, and they don't have the luxury of determining minimum effective doses. So in reality, the dose required is probably substantially less.
But for the sake of clarity, I just used their numbers as is.

And yes, even if it provides palliative effects, it is still beneficial. But this little investigation has me excited about CBD/N and I've learned a few things I didn't know before, so I certainly have benefited from this research.

Thanks, Sunni, I know. There is no reversing it, just postponing the inevitable (but aren't we all?). I just want for her to have the most enjoyment she can with the time she has left...
