Skywalker OG, Hempy Bucket Grow, Area-51 LED's

59 days, middle of week 9 flush, noticing some last minute fattening. Tried the cell phone for some of the last few picture sets. Chopping this weekend.

Man I wish there was a way to hit like more than once, they look great...

Thanks everyone for the positive energy thorough this thread. Its been 3.5 days since last watering and the buckets are still heavy. Senescence is here at the end of week 9. I see a few cola's leaning, even with the wire trellis. This evening I'll show pics of the first trimmed cola's.

61 days, per Whocares suggestion, just before the chop I took one last trip around the tent. Remember these are 5' plants growing growing out of those 2g hempy buckets with a dozen tops each. The screen is 45" off the floor. Call it SWOG (screen way off ground) LOL.

Friday the 13th, and all is well. Took down the first 8 tops of each plant. Tomorrow I'll watch college football and easily add two more hangars to this with tops only half this size. Nuggetry is "hard, dense and heavy"...nowhere near "hairy and airy". This is an easy strain to trim. Fan leaves as well as sugar leaves buried in the tops actually full easily from their sockets. Scissor work is a minimum...wear Nitrile gloves...the cola's are stickier than sin. The glove finger tips were loaded with red hairs after just one top....I have a scissor-hash ball the size of a large green pea. Will let you know tomorrow where I went in space and time.

How do u think the led buds compare? How about even the new lights vs old?

mine are plumping up this seems to be a strain that saves the best for last im at day#41 of 12/12 those area 51 leds are working out good & generating buds as good [possibly better] than hid without the heat & at a reduced operating cost which i think would offset the purchase price i really like the fact that jela has created an unconventional grow here with the drain to waste & medium blend & lights seeing this grow has triggered ideas for mine here is pics of mine at day 41

Awesome example of your SWOG (screen way off ground). Those colas look nice and frostylicous grown with them UFO LEDs papa. I wouldnt mind picking up one or two myself, and im pretty sure they give off little to no heat? Ideal for indoors.

Man is it hard to trim and watch college football. I added 3 more hangars to the harvest today and I still have 2 plants cut down half-height with popcorn buds still to be rendered. The scissor hash was awesome last night...put me right in that "seat" you want to be in...no mixed thoughts, no weird emotional traits, just pure comfort zone. So far I'm pleased with the yield of these two girls but I'm holding all critiques of the strain, yield and the LED's until these are weighed dry and I smoke a fresh rolled "jay".

Geez, got distracted by all the football games on tv the past week-and-a-half, so I'm just getting a chance to check all the pretty pictures (always read the commentary on my phone, thanks to my daily email subscription to this thread). From the photos Jela, it does look like the colas fattened up before you chopped them. Eyeballing the results, do you think you reached your goal of 4 ounces-plus per plant under your new lights? Echoing the comment of hbbum, that's a meticulous trim job too -- that or the Skywalker OG got a Brazilian! (PS -- looking forward to following your new grow, start to finish).

Holey Moley, I just put 9.5oz of dried “crispy” bud in jars. Some last night, some this morning. My arid climate is real challenge with pre-cure drying and buds can be too wet or too dry within an 8hr. window and it usually happens in 3.5 - 4 days. Since I trimmed 2 days in a row I staggered the jarring. This time I went a little dry and my sample jar is only up to 55RH internally after 24 hours pre-burp. The smell is perfect for starting the cure. I knew the time was right when I came home yesterday and that “grass smell” was gone in the drying closet. It had changed to a sweet “earthy-hashy” smell on the the original cola stems. My smoke report “proper” will come after some curing. But I can tell you this…I was like a deer in the headlights when I took a hit of this in a small pipe. The taste was so much like “hashish” I had to savor the taste across my tongue…I got so high, so fast, Monday night football became a blur, and I had pork chops on the grill to deal with…. Gotta try this again under a controlled setting. First impression is "killer'.


Yield – I am personally shocked that I surpassed my 4oz per plant goal….I’ll take 4.7oz any day knowing that was my personal best with another strain under HPS (G13 Pineapple Express). And to say I did this with LED’s is another reality check. My older ProSource 180W LED’s never went over 3.5oz per plant but that’s understandable with 90° lenses and lesser 1w penetration. I’m still gasping about the quantity however. I really think the two panels gave me more “spread” over my Sun Systems II HID reflector hood (400W) and the SWOG screen kept colas separated enough for ample light sharing bud-to-bud. Here’s a simple bud shot on day 1 of cure.

You guys with those sys-160 lights are killing me. I want one, but am feeling too cheap to dole out $500+. @$400 I might be game, lets see if they come down any over the next 6mo to a year
