the story goes (afaik) that sam skunkman did not enjoy the smell/taste of skunk and bread skunk 1 toward the lemon/fruity/sweet side of things..

RKS- Road Kill Skunk is the one that smells like a dead skunk on the side of the road on a summer day..
See I was told it got confiscated during a raid at his farm?
Probably did, after the fact.

Out of the 29 plants, only one smells like coffee and skunk. Smells like I opened a bag of coffee beans. I just HOPE it's a female, but it's still too early to tell. If it is a male, I'm keeping it and using it for pollinating. It's weird, some days it's like a cloud of skunk comes out of the plant and literally floats around the yard in a small pocket. I can smell it up to 25 feet away. Other days I can only smell it if I rub the ends of the leaves and stick my nose in it.

I think RKS is old school Super Skunk. My Mass Super Skunk is closest I've found, but I still have a month to go so we'll see.

Coffee smell, have grown several strains that have that coffee/skunk odor. And some with the burnt rubber skunk odor. Diesels have a skunky odor. M39 has a bizarre JB Weld / Skunk odor. Top Dollar is skunky and a little citrus. Trinity is roasted chestnut / skunk. There are many, many more for certain.

I lived/grew in Humboldt in the 70s and early 80’s. You could tell skunk weed when someone pulled into the driveway with a bag in their trunk! It was a very strong smell, just like a skunk. At that time Sativa was mostly grown, Indica was just starting to arrive in good amounts. I have not smelled/smoked anything close to that NorCal skunk weed in several decades!
Damn I wish I could try some real skunk

Skunk#1 has coffee type tastes in some phenos its not as strong as in some other strains but you can taste it a bit for sure yeah coffee type smells and tastes can be found in some Afghani lines i think certain old lumbo lines too tho as for burnt rubber stuff well that is common in so many things id say like afghans skunks ogs and chems and there crosses to name a few well from my experience anyway

I always associated "skunk weed" with guerilla growers putting their crop in the swamps by all the skunk cabbage when I was younger, in the mid-late 90s. I even grew some of my plants next to the same swamps because that stuff would reek 10x worse and cover the smell, and the deer would leave it alone too.

Sometimes I still wonder if that's true, and they actually rolled the buds up into the cabbage stalks or something. I haven't smelled real "skunk weed" since back then anyway. Sometimes I drive by a cabbage patch along a road and I get a big whiff, and it takes me right back, lol. I've been lead to cabbage patches thinking "OMG someone is growing the dank in the woods.." on more than one occasion back in those days, haha.

Maybe 20+ years later we just can't smell and taste as good, or olfactory fatigue has set in.. and weed will never smell that skunky again, except for young people? Kinda like how little kids can hear 2x as good as adults, @ way higher frequencies.

I know I know, skunk was a real strain..
