Oh no! Takes a week to get a replacement HPS bulb. He didn't have any of mine in stock. So, have to buy another one tomarrow. Oh well, it's something I was gonna be getting in a month anyways for the 2 closet hydro. But, at least they do replace the bulb for you. That helps.

He was talking about your ballast being digital or magnetic. Describing it as a humm, i'd say it's a magnetic. If it weighs like 30 pounds it's a magnetic ballast;)

usually i use brown sugar almost the same and i get the same results.
There's a huge difference between molasses and brown sugar, Molasses is a byproduct of processing sugarcane, and is much more dissolveable and usable to the plant, sugar isn't usable it's too large to be absorbed by the plant.

i think of flushing as a cleansing of the soil and nothing is cleaner than plain water.
Agreed, you can use a flushing agent to break up excess fertilizer

the need for flushing isn't as big of a deal in soil as it is in hydro.
I completely disagree, flushing is vital no matter what medium for a clean smoke, with organics it's not as important, but still an integral part of the cycle. Hydro doesn't need as long to flush, because soil holds the nutrient solution and a hydro resevoir can be switched out

Been away for awhile, just catching up... :bigjoint:

Oh yeah...

Don't turn you light back on if it goes out, wait until it cools down. A "hot-start" dramatically reduces bulb life, but I've never seen it blow one.

Also, the lumen output of a bulb degrades over time, after a year you can expect a 40% decrease in output.

Yeah it's a magnetic ballest. Got the new bulb in. Replacement bulb should be in about a week or so.

Buds are really looking good. Got lower leaves yellowing on about half now. Progressing pretty normally. Anyone throw out a guess on this tall one? It's about 7 weeks in flower. But she seems to be slow going sativa. No yellowing leaves on her yet. She smells sorta like Pinesol. I'd guess like another 3-4 weeks, but that seems so long. Maybe she's a 12 week strain, with bagseed, it sucks knowing. If that what she wants.

Here's some updates. The first few are the girl I'm talking about.

I have noticed in my own growing that the females tend to take a little longer than males to show sex. But not by much. Maybe it's just that I can spot a male faster. Some times females only show their sex with a hair or two. Then a day or two later they'll explode in hairs. I've noticed with males, the top of the cola will have the balls first. Sometimes i've seen it form a small dome shape with the newest leaves of the growth tip. Look just under the newest growth basically. It's always worked for me.

Good luck, stay safe,

lookin good, this thread is like crack i cant help but check it first when i'm on. did you take clones for the next run? i like the one on the second row 3rd pic in. keep it up you almost there.

No clones for next time. These were just bagseed. Seems to be good bagseed, but next grow I'm changing up my strain. Trying something new. I will be cloning from them to avoid buying the seeds, and save time.

I like that one too. I can't seem to get a pic that does her justice. She has the hardest buds of the group by far. Like granite. She's very uniform as well, all 4 branches are within 1/4 inch of each other. Her main cola seems to be the slowest going for whatever reason. I'm sure it'll catch up though. Thanks.

Hey all, Got some registry issues, my programs can't fix. May have to take it in if a friend can't fix it. In which case I may be stop posting for a little bit. Don't worry, I'll be back and will keep taking pics to update when I do get it working again.

Well, these plants are still alive so couldn't tell ya yet. Never done this kind of growing before. Guessing an average of 20grams. Some look like they'll pull off a little more than an oz. With the right strain, you should be able to get an oz. Even 12/12 from seed.

Of course, experience and how well you treat your girls will determine this. Also, nutes, lights, so many other factors. Just cuz I get an oz, doesn't mean you will. Or that someone can't do better. My advice, grow it and find out.

How about some opinions on cutting the girl in the last set of pics. The "Big Girl" I just gave a nute watering today. But next water I was planning on starting her flush for 10 days, then chop chop. I feel I may be rushing it. Her hairs are about 20% red now. With the trichs mostly clear, with some cloudy ones. I don't want her to miss out on fattening up those love handles. Whatchathinkboutit?

Oh dude,
I think your plants look great, not ready to harvest though, I would say another three weeks. the buds will get hard, that's how ya know, also light amber trichs. get a magnifying glass.

Ratfords your girls are really looking good. Filling in nicely I see. I agree with Redirasta, she looks like she could use another couple weeks. There is no 100% way to know when they are done, but the trichomes are a good start.

When my last girls were done, the trichomes said yes cut them(about 20-30% amber), but I just didn't feel like I should yet. I ended up cutting half, and giving the other half another week. I'd rather harvest a couple days late, then a week early.

Also we have discussed this method (singlecolas) being ideal for certain plants. Chronic from serious seeds seems to be one of those plants. It specifically says not to top the plants, that they grow a natural single cola. http://www.1stopseedshop.co.uk/site/product_details.asp?name=Chronic&id=52&cat=Seeds&desc=sativa/indica+hybrid, Northern+Lights/Skunk+x+Northern+Lights/AK-47&m=prod&vip=f120x102SAP80&rate= just thought I would add that tothe discusstion.

They're all still a growin'. Decided to wait on the flush for the big girl. She's just not done enough yet.
