Would somebody please read my previous post? I have a couple of questions.

Here I am all excited thinking I have buds and no one will look at my pics and tell me that's what I'm seeing. Also, are the bud sites at the tips of my branches going to turn unto colas or just a bud on the end? In other words, will the 17 bud sites I counted turn into colas? Wouldn't that be awesome!
Just a tip, when people post in your thread you need to give those people "Likes". It's just a way of saying thanks.

Oh, I didn't know that. I do that sometimes, but apparently not as much as I should, sorry. Also, I may have missed responding to anything because I've been out of town since Friday night. We got back last night (Sunday). I don't know if this makes any difference.

I was smurfing around RIU and read a post about trimming and cutting small branches to use for clones. . .and it's a great lead in to my new problem. Apparently I'm not the only one that cuts fan leaves (and branches). Someone on here got onto me bad for cutting. But this is what happened when i didn't

I have 4 in flower (two- three weeks). The one (1) that I cut back like a vid I saw on youtube, showed me to cut ALL the fan leaves off and make room for the little leaves. I got in trouble for that on here-- BUT-- I went to Louisiana to gamble with my niece this weekend, from Friday to Sunday, last night, and my plants all grew 4-5 inches in just two days! The other three that I didn't cut back are flopping at the top for a good 4" so I had to stake them straight. They are growing buds and I don't know how this affects them when the stem is not strong enough to hold the cola. I've seen ppl hold them up with a string but I have nothing to tie them to.
In any event, back to the subject at hand. The ONE that I cut waaaay back to nothing but new leaves looks great. It's nice and strong all the way to the top cola that's trying to bud and the height is perfect for my small grow space. The other three, well, I'm kinda in a mess here and don't really know what to do. Didn't mean to rant, I just have a good/bad problem with height on those now. I'm growing inside in soil and have a very small grow space. Had I cut them back, there would be room for all 4 girls but now I have to make a decision on who gets to stay in the grow room and who gets transplanted outside (for the goats to eat). WAHHHH!!!!

i'll put my hand up. my bad. honestly, you make a really good point- if you WANT to stunt a plant so it stays small and flowers in a tiny cab, defoliating hard in early flower would cripple its growth but still let it mature and give you bud.

SilkyT, you have taught us a very clear lesson, and also reminded me not to listen to all the idiots on the internet all the time. even when one of those idiots is me.

Oh, so you're coming clean. :P Cute pic. and that was nice! But now what do I do with the girls? I was just looking at them really close and the two PPP's buds look and the leave count is the same. But it seems I have NEW PROBLEM! I don't think the AKs are both AKs. They look different and the leaves are different. Honestly I think I remember admitting that when they were babies I somehow got them mixed up. I marked an AK as an AK and I think it's one of the freebies. AND i swear the bud sites look like balls before they bud, unlike that others who have lots of white hairs as soon as the bud shows up. I looked real close and I'm not sure if white hairs is what I see because they are soooooo prominent on my other plants. Does it sound like I have a man in the house? BTW, the two "AKs" are a little over two feet, whereas the one I cut back is 18" and growing buds at the same rate.

It sounds like you have the same problem I have with some gay lesbian weird stuff going on because I was SURE they were all female. That means that one of the ones I put outside is an AK and I'm treating it like a step-child!o_O
What do you do about gnats?

Oh, I meant to add something to that previous post. The lights. I have the one (took the other one out) 150 watt CFL and it's huge! But since the new ones grew 4-6 inches in two days they are trying to touch the light. I can't lift it much further as it's slightly attached to the top of my grow space and into the top square hole which also works as a vent to get the hot air out. I have a fan on them all the time and it keeps it at about 75-80 degrees. Oh, dang, the question is, can I take that BIG grow light out now that I'm in flower and only use the 42 watt 2760 lumens light? I feel like I've got too much light in there if I'm trying to get them to flower and bud. Backing out on lights would trick them into flower, right?
This post should be in the newbie site and not here. Ok, let me see if I can get a pic.
The third photo or the one with white hairs--is like the other three but this one is like this. Is it a boy?

On that plant (if it's female) and the other plant that's 25" tall, can I just top that 4 inches off even tho it's a small cola? I'll bet that's not a good idea. If that one is a male, I'll throw it out, but the other tall hot blonde I would like to top.

UPDATE: I just realized why the top 4-6" is flimsy. BECAUSE I DIDN'T MAKE SURE THE FAN WAS ON THE TOP! I am running a fan but it's only getting the middle and bottom branches and I forgot about the top, the MOST IMPORTANT PART!! What a noob!
I put the larger fan right on the tops now in the hopes that it strengthens them. Probably not since I have them posted to a wooden skewer to keep them from falling over. They're now as bad as it sounds, they haven't been 4-6" tall for that long.

ANOTHER UPDATE: I should have looked online at male plant pics. That was a MALE. I just put his butt outside in the storm. And the other tall one? It's more like a male/female (IDK how to spelll that word) and I put its butt outside in the storm too.

So I owe somebody an apology. :oops:The height ws because they were male or male/female. The other two left in the grow room unfortunately are the same strain-- Pure Power Plant. I so wanted to grow an AK48. Wonder what happened. Maybe they are the plants I put out 3 weeks ago. Anywayt it fixed my problem on what do with the tall plants. I know the two left are definitely female no question, they look like that last pic above. Now that I see the pics above in camera, it's so obvious-- Duh!

I owe you an apology. The height was because they were male plants and were getting taller than the females. That's the problem and I tried to blame everything (and everybodys) except the fact that I cant tell male from female! Duh! Those plants were so nice but they're trash now. Now I just have two PPPs and that's okay.

I guess I have to change the name of my Grow Journal thread. aWahhha!! No, I'm fine I'm just wondering what I have growing out in the yard now. Jeez, what a disaster on my first inside grow. And I just realized that two of my clones (out of three) are AKs so that means they're male too. Dang! The news just keep coming.

i never really liked looking at other peoples balls..

at least you've got more sideways space for the girls now.

I have topped a flowering plant - it stuffs up yield, some people will warn you that it can make hermaphroditism express, and its a waste of the plants energy.

Generally, flowering requires more energy and more light - which translate into yield correspondingly. Yikes, you need someone smarter to get you out of this one, you are gonna have trouble finishing in that low height. Have you burnt any leaves yet?

EDIT: its a fucking miserable gloomy, rainy winter day over here. bad news everywhere. dunno if you've seen this thread here ... lotsa fluro bud porn to brighten your day.

You said, generally flowering requires more light" Ugh, on the subject of lights, I was reading to today and realized that I totally, totally screwed up something. I had this ingenious blonde idea :idea:bongsmilie that less light would trick the plants into flowering faster. So I took one of the CFLs out of the grow room and left only the big one, the 42 watt CFL. It's been like that for about a week (and also I was thinking I didn't want all those bulbs going on while we were in Louisiana gambling, leaving the house totally unattended). I noticed that they stopped growing. They've budded in many spots and I have lots of pretty blonde hairs coming out of my buds but it's like they stopped growing. Then it hit me-- DUH:oops: I took some light out. So, I've probably set them back a month in growth and I promised family I would have this done in a couple of weeks. How idiotic. Was I on drugs? I don't think so:?::shock::eyesmoke:not to any extreme extent. In any event, I rigged that light back into the grow room, down where there aren't any (or very few) buds or light.
What can I give them to kick them back into gear? Im still feeding with the bat guano, worm casings, bio marine something or other mixture cut in half every third watering. I've never let them get dry and I know I should. That would probably help kick them in, huh? I wish I had followed directions and not tried to think:P.

I just enlarged my bud pic above and my bud looks pretty healthy, right?

sounds like you have put some 'side lighting' under the canopy now? thats a good move. other than that, just chill and sit tight.

i feel like my bud karma has been exhausted - so much disharmony in the garden. I must now rebalance the chi and all that shit. :eyesmoke: send me some mooshu, i'll return with some better vibes to share.

I have a lot of buds at the ends of many of my branches, but the plant quit growing buds. What happens next? They've been like this for 1 week or so. Aren't I supposed to be getting it filled in for colas? The buds are just sitting there at the end of the branch and nothing is happening.

they are hungry for light. i'd put one of those cfl tubes onto/next to each cola you want to harvest so it can fatten up. without light the rest will be loose buds/popcorn/larf - they just won't bulk up. its a sad truth

Thanks for helping.. I have a 150 watt CFL coming in on the top blasting like the sun and a 42 watt CFL on the side now giving them side and bottom light. Remember I took that 42 watt out like a dumbass about a week before we went out of town so it was without that light for a week or so. You're right, that's what happened. It appears that since I put the 42 back in, I'm seeing hairs on the stem now and in the nodes. I didn't have those Sunday. Are you saying I need yet another light? It's a small grow box 18" x 4' tall. It's like slim and tall for the two plants. The walls are all shiney with reflector mylar, top and bottom included. Whatcha think? Someone sent a diagram of how the colas grow and I think I have that going on. Let me see if I can find the diagram.
What I don't understand is in the middle diagram, how does bud grow on the stem? I mean, I think I see hairs growing in the nodes more than the flowers if I look close, I guess that's what I'm seeing.

TO FLUSH OR NOT TO FLUSH. My plants haven't grown but an inch in two weeks and they were averaging at least 4 or more inches every other day. They've already started flowering (about two weeks ago, but they look the same). When I water, the water that comes out the bottom comes out a burgandy/brown color. I'm thinking I need to flush for fear of salt or nute lockup. Any ideas? What color is the outcoming water supposed to be? I just replanted one of my girls in a larger pot, along with some home made compost that I already did a trial run on with tomatoes and they loved it. Again, the water is burgandy/brown.

Any suggestions? I don't want them to grow any taller but I want them to start back with the flowering process.

HELP!
