Shortening flowering

You could try running slightly warmer dark period temperatures to reduce stretch.
Hey @ANC I'm still out on that one, was making the changes last year so didn't get to determine whether it induced more or less stretch. I was changing the cycle lengths last year so had too many variables. For about 4-5 months (couple of cycles) when it's warmer out and I have the room full I've been running negative DIF temps, that is the temps the same or higher during lights out. It produces well, I think it's the plants transpiring more and more wet/dry cycles due to higher temps throughout the cycle causing higher evaporation. I'll be monitoring closer this early summer when I can run negative DIF again, will throw in some control clones to watch the effects closer. I think it was the 11.5/12.5 that showed some extra stretch more so than negative DIF though.

I've asked this question before and have gotten the following responses (from different people):
1) Higher temps
2) add UVB
3) shortened day cycles (less than 24 hours day cycles)
4) more Red (630nm and/or 660nm) , or higher CRI
5) GLR in veg (leads to faster start of flowering)
6) using 730nm far red trigger for 5-15 min at lights out
7) smaller pots (1/2 gallon) - plant being rootbound can lead to faster finish
8) graduated lights-on time (reduce lights-on by 30 min per week)

I'm currently doing 1,2,3,4,6 but I only started @ day 30 of flower. I'm running 5.5 hrs on, 10.5 hrs off with Sonoff timers utilizing the loop timer feature. I'm currently at 45 real days of flower, however 15 of those days have been running 5.5/10.5, so if you consider that a 16hr day, I'm at 49 days flower.
How is the 10.5/5.5 worki out for you?

the first test plant was ready for harvest on the modified schedule (4/4). So, in terms of rushing the finish, I think it was success.

It was a super bushy/thick plant ( a reveg that was kept in a tiny chamber, topped over and over to fit, in short, it was pretty abused and one heck of a crazy thick bush) that I did not thin out and yielded a ton of popcorn buds. My next run are all from seed, topped at second node for 4 main colas, so I hope to have a better indication of success of the technique. I should be able to judge whether I need more light or not to keep my 5.5/10.5 going.

I'd call it a success in terms of 1)shortening flower, and 2) plant did not revert to veg. Now, with subsequent runs I'll dial in the correct amount of light to get my DLI where it needs to be.
