GOOD NEWS! The place I ordered the 250 watt unit from is going to replace the defective bulb for free! I added 4x 42 watt 2700k (150 watt equivalent) all around until the new bulb gets here.

I also LST'd most of the main shoots yesterday...she looks like a mess right now, but she'll be more organized after I let her grow up some more and defoliate a little.

Pics will be posted in 20 min!

Day 21 (July 27th, 2015)

Hey all, here are 3 sets of pictures of the LST from yesterday labeled as BEFORE, AFTER, and DAY AFTER. the "before" pics are before I LST'd her. The "after" pics are immediately after LSTing. The "day after" pics are from this morning (today).

Hope that makes sense! Also, as I stated before, she looks like a mess right now, but that's okay...I'm just trying to direct where I want the main colas to form right now. I'll defoliate her once (maybe twice) before flowering. She'll be more ascetically appealing soon!

Day 25, (July 31, 2015)

She's vegging up nicely! I'm probably gonna do another LST tomorrow. I will also defoliate just a little bit very soon. I gave her some nutrients yesterday. Here are the pics from every angle.

Pic 8326 is the top of the plant in case anyone is wondering.

I wouldn't overdo with all those tops :)
Once I had an idea of LSTing around the pot and letting the shots go up. somewhere before I reached the middle I realized that it's not going to happen and I had to flip. By that time I already had 22 mains fighting for the light and food. In the end that really affected my yield. Was harvesting lots of popcorn buds from some thin lanky stems. Now I just go mostly for 4 tops, sometimes 6, in that case auxins distribute evenly and you have nice size colas
Well just dropping something to be aware of ;)

Okay, I was just thinking about that this morning. I'm going to LST her main cola one more time later today. I'm also going to spread out all the tops as even as possible. I think Ill veg her for another 2 days after LST tonight, then flip her to 12/12.

Thanks for the tip...greatly appreciated!

Day 35,

I'm going to LST all the shoots later today, and flip her to 12/12. She got big fast, and as simisimis stated earlier, there are a lot of top shoots coming in, and I want to keep her manageable. Here's a quick pic I took this morning. Shes looks a little messy again because I had just bent some of her side shoots over before taking the picture.

two pics, same angle, one with the 2700K and the other with the 6500K

Yup, your bush looks awesome man. Keep tieing faster shoots down, let smaller shots get taller. You don't have to flip now, unless you have vertical space limit. and after flip you can keep training the plant forming the crown and letting tops grow evenly. During flower stretch I usually trim stuff that does not get auxins, they never catch up with the rest and yield crappy buds anyways. Because there's a lot of indica in your strain soon it might be tough to train it cause stem will be fattening up and hard to bend. But all is ahead, you're going to yield some fine smoking material ;)

Cool, I flipped to 12/12 today. I'm not limited on vertical space, but I will be moving in 4 months. I have plenty of time, but I'm not trying to let this one get to overwhelming like my last grow. You're right about the stem, she's gotten fat and hard to bend in the previously LST'd areas. I've got a nice even spread with about 11-13 main bud sites, so it should do well once the buds start to develop.

I must have been stoned when I posted the last two pics. lol. Anyways, today is day 30 total, and day 1 of 12/12 cycle.

Day 30 total, Day 1 flower

I LST'd ever major shoot last night and took before and after pics again. I also defoliated 3 large fan leaves that were either in the way or were too crowded. There are 11-13 main bud sites. Also, I added 2 more 42watt 2700k CFLs to the sides of the tent.

New light total: 1x 250watt 6500k CFL (10850 lumens) + 4x 42watt 2700k CFLs (2730 lumens) = 418watts (21,770 lumens)

Here are the pics of before and after the LST. I also took before and after pics outside of the tent so that you guys can see her actual color (very dark green) ENJOY, QUESTION, COMMENT!

Great looking plant

it looks great, but I'd suggest you keep at least couple of more days in veg.. now that you did this huge LSTing, you would give couple of days veg time for those shots to go vertical and then after flip watch the stretch. altering a bit growing direction of shoots and forming a crown during flower is no biggie, but when doing this hard LST like in the pics, during flowering - those 3 weeks she would be stretching, some of those days she will be trying to get up. Well at least it's something to keep in mind ;)

I'm going to keep her on 12/12, even though I totally get what you mean. I did this same exact thing with my last grow (veg 30 days, and on day 30 do one last major LST), and I really liked the buds I got. I'm going to try your method out on my next grow however. Here are pics from my last afghan grow. Pic one is day 31 of veg, right after a major LST. The other pics are her right before harvest.

Not sure if stretching like that is normal, or if its because I always do mixed spectrum grows, but I'm expecting the same streching to occur with this plant as it is similar genetics, and I have more light and a better tent this time around.

I really appreciate all your advice though simisimis, and feel free to correct me if I'm wrong with any of my assumptions about mixed spectrum grows.

those are so lovely omg :)
it's not my method, it's just planning how tall you want to let them go. it looks very short like 15". If this is, say 15" colas, with same setup, you let them get a tad taller then you get 25" colas. Then you would need to veg a bit ore, but then you would get lot more harvest.
About stretching, a lot comes from genetics. one or another spectre will alter only a bit. However different vegging hours and different total time of vegging matters a lot as well.
You're doing great job man, plants love your garden :)

Okay, that makes perfect sense...now I kinda want to veg for another week. Would that mess with her if I switched back to 18/6 for a few more days? She's on been on 12/12 for 1 day!
