Seed Production. A Tutorial

- How early and how late in flowering do you suggest pollenating a branch directly for success? Like week 8 to late when a plant appears on close to finishing by weeks?

- Considering using pollen from 2 different strains on the same plant but on 2 different branchs. If they are on opposite ends of the plant would this work? concerns?

if i plant 10 reg lowryder seeds and let them mate,,, how many seeds can a 7gram plant hold???,, roughly?

is it worth trying?? i love lowryder smell and taste but 18$/seed for a plant you cant even clone is crazy!

Micro-grow seed production could be pretty sweet.. On that note, what are the bare minimums (lighting etc) required to pull a few seeds to maturity??
Also, what kind of abuse would it take to damage the few seeds temperature-wise etc??
Essentially what I'm asking is how close to an Easy-Bake oven could a setup be, and still yield viable seeds??

i've had some high temps and stressful condition and still got good seeds. i think if anything the plant want to mkae seeds. if that all it can do it will. :-P

yeah i second that you can always produce seeds that is the plants ultimate goal. smoke quality will suffer but seeds will be fine.

Bump this question.

I have collected my sacs and they are drying. But, my females are only just showing their first white hairs.

Do I have to wait until my buds on the females are as big as shown?

If I pollinated her now would that bud stop growing?

the bud will NOT stop growing. i wait until there is a nice thumb sized nugget. i have found if i try to pollinate too some i have lesser results. mid flower seems about the best time for me. i'd say between weeks 4 and 6 on a 10 weeks strain.

you can use different pollen on the same plant. just mark the branches and be careful not to let a lot of loose pollen flying around.

yeah i just make sure to stop pollination 5 to 6 weeks from harvest so there are only big mature seeds no little runts that can be missed and smoked by mistake.

Hey guys, I'm in the process of crossing a few clones and I was curious about how long does it take for the male flowers to fully develop? Like how long should I wait to cut them down and extract the pollen from them?

wait until they start to drop pollen. :-P

I think he's looking for a time-line estimate from onset of visibility.. I know that they quickly become a threat (within 7-10 days unless I'm mistaken on pollen source), but I dunno how lon it takes for them to likely drop tons of pollen onto paper when tapped..

Ha thanks guys, I'll post a picture or two and tell me what you think on whether they're ready or not.

they don't ripen all at once. a couple of pods open each day for several weeks. you have to watch it closely. the pods will swell and turn white just before they opn. if you tap them they will often drop pollen thru the cracks in the skin before they even open. this would be the best time to pluck them. i go thru each day with tweezers and pluck off pods as they swell and open. i will do this for 2 to 3 weeks. until i get the pollen i need.
