safe to mount air pump vertically?

is it safe to mount an air pump vertically? I heard if the pump is on the ground, water can drip back down into it, in case of power loss. There are little adapters that prevent that, but they also reduce air flow by a lot. My tent doesn't have any shelves or pockets, so I was thinking maybe tie a chain to the pump and vertically suspend it on the back side of the tent, against the wall, hanging from the top of the tent, maybe right above the buckets. But would that be safe for the pump or should the pump be horizontal to the ground?
Here is the pump I'm buying.

I use a screw-in utility hook placed about a quarter of the way up my wooden cabinet, and suspend my air pump with some bungee cord. This allows me to keep my vertical area free for maximum light coverage.. not to mention cutting down on vibrations and noise levels.

Have you bought the pump yet? If not i strongly suggest you get a Hailea and not one made by a Chinese company for hydro use. These things take a hell of a hammering as they are on 24/7 throughout the grow.

My advice would be to get a Hailea V60 and a 6mm 4 way manifold....or a 5 way and just close one of the outlets. I have two of these and they are practically silent, easily serviceable and very well built.

I just got it earlier today and hooked up 2 large air stones to in the bucket.. seems pretty good but honestly not sure if it was worth 70 haha.

OK, well i'm sure it will do the job, but as a general rule, try not to buy hydro equipment from hydro stores. I know that sounds odd, but you can get much better, often cheaper stuff from, for example, aquarium stores, hardware stores etc etc.

I'm fairly sure we have a similar setup, i'm happy to give you advice on this if you want to drop me a PM anytime.

The diaphragm will work in any position.
Electric motor will run in any position also...
I'm not an expert grower.... But I know alot about industrial pumps....
Yours is just on a smaller scale :))
I'd imagine gravity would help tiny pumps also.. Bit its just air your pumping

Yeah I only bought Hydroton because it was so expensive online but it ended up just slightly cheaper because they didn't have anything other than a huge 25L bag of it..
They wanted like $9 for a bucket and $7 for duct elbows which I found at home depot for 3 each. Thank you for all your help! I just have one more main step.. the actual scrog net/PVC assembly.
I also can't PM anyone, I think my account is too new. If you could please check out my other thread here, that would be super helpful man!

And thank you about the information on the diaphragm and electric motors. I was pretty sure it would be fine, but I just thought I'd make sure since it was pretty pricey for an air pump.
I actually decided to put it on an upside down bucket since I have plenty of floor space and I'm going for scrog. Here are a few pics.. almost there!!

I totally overestimated the amount that would be lost due to bucket and hood/filter... also originally had a different plan for filter. But luckily got the lamp to be pretty much dead center. (check out intake hole at bottom and lamp location)

Had the 400w HPS running for about 2 hours and got around 75 but it was from 10pm to 12pm. Also need to get some more ventilation for intake, just had some spare duct but I need a 90 degree register boot and to seal up intake.. it was just a test run, hope it turns out better once it's all dialed in.

SUPER EXCITED! thank you everyone here at rollitup for helping me out so far.. this has been so great.
if anyone happens to know about scrog nets with PVC and height levels.. please check out my thread here.. that's the last step for me and I just need a bit more help! but better get some sleep 5am here haha thank you everyone!!
