I dont use a pre press or bags. Food vacs work ina pinch if you do need to compress a large amount of flower, if you dont have a pre press mold.

From my winter of pressing the biggest takeaway ( for me) is that better results are achieved from pressing at low temps, low pressure. I see no benefit pressing as hard as I can, so I press twice. And bigger tonnage units are only needed if you're pressing larger amounts. Just my .02

Guys save your pressed pucks. I only press mine once, so i throw them into oil and make really really potent edibles.

I leave em in the mesh, it contains the weed and gives you clean oil. I decarb and infuse the pucks in one step. The mesh does not melt its heat resistant.

Just a question to post In the thread again are we saying oily rosin is due to ie: strain, to much pressure, a high room temp and press plate temp? Sometimes I think it’s the humidity of the bud in my opinion ive been pressing at 55-60% humidity in my curing jars. I’ve pressed a couple straines I’ve grown, but I get the most believe it or not from months cured stuff I buy.

Just from my own experience, I've pressed 4-5 different strains, the rosin texture or oiliness is strain dependent as well as how moist the bud is your pressing.

I like to use Dry Ice Kief made from trim and popcorn. I have a small cement mixer with a kief collector cone attachment. You put a couple of pounds of trim and a couple lbs of dry ice into the mixer and attach the kief collector over the mouth of the mixer and tumble for 3-4 min. The frozen Trichomes pass thru the screen and collect in the cone. Fill bags with it and squish...
