Damn you pressing buds at 90 95? Or that for bubble hash? Ill defo be pressing some bbh at those temps next time.Man ive dabbed very acceptable rosin off the kind of ice you wouldnt dream of smoking.
Man thats a good idea, with the laser point gun im sure ill be able to find that 90 to 100 range.
Do you press much longer than 10 to 15 secs?

I used two 1" wide hair straighteners. Slapped some electrical plastic dip on the back of the circuit boards.
I'm pressing buds around 200F , 93C, for maybe 20-30 seconds. Keep in mind that while the press time will be longer, I am pressing larger quantities too. So all things considered you get better quantity and quality.
I first pre-press the buds into little round disks in a pollen press (I hear a garlic press works well too). This allows the heat and pressure to be more consistent once in the arbor press. I don't really time the press, it is more about getting everything warmed up and then slowly compressed out. Once I reach full compression I might hold it in that position for 5-10 seconds. With the lower temps you won't get that burnt taste like you can get at 300F, even if you hold it for a long time.
After I press and collect from buds, I like to put the extract in a tea bag and press it out one more time at even lower temps to clean it up a bit.

Maybe thats why all the bud i pressed before turned out with a slightly toasty after taste. 95C aint the same as 150C. Though the hash never came out toasty, suppose due to short exposure to heat and purer initial material without much if any plant material.
Do you get a negligible loss in yield from these lower temperatures or not even that?
Lol there was a tshirt press at this club and you shud have see nthe owner press on it. 180C, whole bud in pp, smack it down as hard as he could, and open it 8 seconds later (he had some theory why it had to be 8 sec too lol) and reomved the pp with his foot, fucking epic. He would done gather up maybe like a half dab and be sooooooooooo proud of it. going around the whoooooole club showing it ppl. It was the worst rosin i ever tried.

There probably is a yield drop off but I don't think it is significant and fully worth the trade off in flavor, imo. With a 1 ton I do see a significant drop off in yield when I go to 180F and I don't feel like I get more flavor so 200F is sort of the happy number for my set up.

A few pics of my set up. Note that since I put my heating plates on top and bottom, I had to raise the bottom plate with some large nuts. High heat epoxy has worked for me to hold them on, but I did learn to not butter the face of the heating pad, better to mix the epoxy thick and pull it up over the edges to lock them in. Chuck has his attached to the sides of the plates with metal banding and both ways work. I stuck a spent rosin chip between the plates to show how they end up. Note the shitty weld you get with a 90amp welder on chunks of metal this size. LOL I put a 3 foot pipe on the arbor arm and it takes very little effort to squish. I like squishing slowly though as I get less leaf breakage that way.

Neighbours got a welding machine he lets me fuck around with it, defoo doing bottom weld too i think. Just so i can weld a bit mote, why not lol
