RIU Inspired Story

Hey all, I was really baked and decided to pick up on a story I had started to write months ago, I have a rough draft of the first paragraph, and I have all the ideas behind it, just need to actually write it, anyways heres a preview, im mixing in some elements from both 1408 short story/film and the silent hill series, specifically mostly from silent hill 1 and silent hill 4. Anyways, I hope you enjoy it, give some feedback, im no stephen king, so please be gentle
oh and it might seem vague at some points, because I havent figure dout where they are, or where they are going, city names etc

I watched closely as smoke rose from the red burning ember and drifted weightless into the sky. For a brief
second forming a dense cloud with a striking resemblence to nebulae. I took a second inhale of my cigarette
and exhaled watching closely; a strong gust of wind dissappated the smoke quickly. I sighed deeply and stood to stretch;
What's taking her so long? I was waiting for my girlfriend Kali to arrive and tell me good news. For the past few months
my friends and I have been searching for an apartment to rent in another city; we had just put a deposit down on a
promising apartment near the downtown area. I sat back down and shifted my weight uncomfortably; inhaling
periodically the sharp pain in my back turned to a gentle numb sensation.

The next couple of paragraphs

Foot steps approached, I raised my head to see who was approaching. The couple holding hands were oddly
opposite. She was significantly shorter than he was and had nearly bleach blonde hair, walking confidently as if always the
center of attention where she went. Her boyfriend has been one of my best friends throughout highschool, Collin. A typical
stoner, always calm and mellow. "Hey Andrew, what's going on?"
"Nothing much, you guys are early." I replied, taking another drag before putting the cigarette out.
"Yeah, Jennifer was excited to see if we got it." Collin said, sitting on a chair while pulling another forward for Jennifer.
"Has Kali told you yet?" Jennifer asked, also taking a seat.
"Not yet, she should be getting here soon."
"You want to smoke a joint Andrew? I've got this really good weed off of Turv" Collin announced excitedly.
"Spark it up Collin." I replied while moving to a seat beside them.

Jennifer became even more bubbly at the proposition of smoking some pot. It almost made her feel badass just to
say she smoked; but we all knew twenty minutes later she was either laughing hysterically or asleep. A rookie by anyone's
standards; but it was always fun. Collin produced a joint from a pack of cigarettes he had in his backpack. From the size of it
there was at least a gram waiting to be inhaled by all of us, I hope Kali would be here in time to smoke some of it. Collin took
the first few drags, like a shockwave the smell of burning marijuana filled the air. I breathed deeply to take in as much of the
smell as possible, it was intoxicating. Collin passed it to Jennifer next, she took a fairly large hit and I could tell she was trying to
mimic her boyfriend in smoking abilities. She tried in vain to hold the hit in; but within a second she started coughing continuously
till she opened a pepsi from Collin's backpack. Finally the joint made it to me, I had taken bong hits several hours earlier so a
joint was just what I needed to clear my head. I inhaled deeply and felt the smoke started to fill my lungs, the smoke was smooth
and tasted like blueberry. By time I had taken a third toke I could feel the affects already flowing through my veins. "That's some
good shit eh?" Collin asked in between tokes of his own.

I like your set up, and mix of characters. The characters smoke D), dialogue isn't boring and kept my attention.... good stuff so far man, ill be checking back for more.

"No kidding, this must be some of that hydro stuff." Jennifer declared trying to sound like she knew what hydro meant.
"Turv usually has the best weed around." I replied producing another smoke from my pocket.

As I lit the cigarette more footsteps approached moving very swiftly. The joint was passed to me, taking another hit I
coughed; however not because the smoke had become too harsh. For a brief moment I was intoxicated not because of the potent
weed that surely was starting to take more affect. She had long brown hair; but today it was tied in a pony tail. I could only stare as
she walked smiling towards me, so beautiful was my only coherent thought. "Hey guys, I hope you saved some of that for me." She said,
with an anticipatory smile.
"Of course Kali, there is still plenty left." Collin replied, breaking my trance.
"Hey babe, how was dinner with the parents?" I asked.
"It was great" She said with a smile while taking a hit from the joint "We went to the Mandarin, everything was delicious."
"That's good, I'm glad you had a good time." I said with a dumb smile.

We all proceeded to smoke and have a great time, everyone buzzing excitedly about news of the apartment. By this point
Jennifer was giggling constantly, and laughing about anything that was the least bit funny. Collin had pulled out an Ipod and had started
listening to Metallica, periodically joining in on the conversation. Kali laughed along with Jennifer as they both declared their plans for the
upcoming move. I started to lay back into my chair, the indica was starting to hit as every muscle in my body started to relax. The
lesser staiva in the strain kept me excited for times to come. I felt that all too familiar feeling of being high on Cannabis, a euphoria
like nothing else.

I like it, i have a buddy who writes lots....but has yet to finish a single work. Anyway, thats some pretty compelling stuff you've got going there, keep it up!

Thanks Pot, it's comming along slowly, I only got another paragraph done yesterday, I got baked and forgot what I was doing and made food.

Heres the next dialogue, and another small paragraph


Breaking my blissful oblivion Kali said. "So, everyone must be dying to hear the news by now." Her face did not betray
the answer.
"Yes, finally it took forever!" Jennifer said with a huge grin.
"Sorry" she replied with a smile. "I wanted to build some suspense first." I straightened up in my chair, waiting intently.
"The superintendant called and told me the news." She said her smile faltering; my pulse quickened. "We got the apartment!"
For a moment I couldn't even comprehend her answer. "Why do you always do that!?" I asked, jokingly.
"I don't know, I just like the look on your face." She replied, obviously trying to be playful.

We both stared at each other for a minute, her eyes could petrify anyone at a distance. To be this close was quite frankly
nearly lethal; however I continued to look and put emphasis on every detail, specifically the iris. Surrounding the pupil was a faint
yellow, followed by the majority blue-gray. What I found most interesting was the very edge which was surrounded by a perfect
ring of the same faint yellow near pupil. Surely, my plain brown eyes were nothing by comparison. I sensed that I was being watched
and I noticed that everyone was looking at me. I looked at each of them in turn, and laughed.

Hey RIU, ive decided to write a little overview of the story, not even paragraph, like those things in printed on the back of the book to give you little hints as to what's going on, and where im going with this story


Four friends are ready for the next step in their lives, University. Spending a great deal of time searching
for apartments to rent near the University, they finally find one that seems perfect. The apartment is large, well-kept
and more than affordable. What could possibly go wrong? As they step into the apartment building none of them
realize the horrors they are about to face. As the door closes behind them it is unknown who will live to see the
outside world again, if any.

Awesome so far, cant wait to read what happens next! more more more!

Thanks alot man, its a slow process, I keep re-writing things over and over, Ive got 4 paragraphs im planning on dishing out tommorow

2 more paragraphs I got done last night, I think i'll let them veg playing the game, they'll talk about the move, maybe, maybe a little scene with Kali and Andrew talking alone smoking a joint/bong, maybe a steamy scene, we'll see, then it'll skip a few days to the move, a little thing about the city, the apartment building and then finally they enter the room where the fun stuff begins, They will only have a quarter, when they enter the room, sorry its sort of dragging, ill get to the actual story soon



Everyone else joined me in laughter,
it was nice having friends who were laid back like myself. We all continued chatting idly about this and that until I
realized it was getting fairly hot. "We should take this inside, it's getting pretty hot out here."

"You're right Andrew, I didn't even notice." Jennifer said lazily, the indica was knocking her out.
"Let's head to the basement, it'll be nice and cool down there." I replied, standing first.
"Let's go Jennifer, I'll carry you down." He picked her up as I helped Kali to stand, she was mellow but still alert.
"Sleep?" Jennifer replied as we walked through the door and downstairs.

I led Kali to the largest sofa in the room. The room was noticeably cooler than outside, just crossing the threshold into
the basement a wave of cold hit me. The cold must have activated the sedating indica even more because Kali; although alert and
mellow before, was now ready for nap. I set up some pillows and gave an optional blanket for her to lay down on, as soon as it
was set she cuddled up to the back of the couch and dozed off. Collin put Jennifer on the love seat, she too turned around and
cuddled up to the back of the couch. " Well man, what do you want to do?" Collin asked, sitting on the love seat where Jennifer
had her legs against the back of the couch.
I looked around for awhile. "I'm not sure, my cousin has my xbox." I said, searching for something else
"We could play some Battlefront II." Collin suggested.
"Yeah man, we haven't played that in awhile." I picked up the old school game and deposited the CD into the Playstation 2.
"Do you mind if I pick the music?" He asked.
"Go ahead, surprise me." I replied.

My stereo system has been useless for quite some time. Why I haven't taken it to get fixed is beyond me. In our baked
ingenuity a few weeks ago we came up with the idea to have the video cord of the playstation plugged into the TV; while having the
CD play in a DVD player with the sound cords plugged in. In our minds, it was the greatest idea in the history of man; but we
soon realized anyone could have thought of it. I plugged everything in and started the game, while it was loading Collin slipped
a CD into the DVD player. He chose number six, it came to no surprise that Blindfolds Aside by Protest the Hero came on.
They were alright, I didn't like the vocals; although I did appreciate the guitar riffs. The complex rythmn changes of mathcore,
or metal core, whichever one it is there are so many sub genres these days I thought. Back in the day, way before I was born
it was basically rock, blues, hardrock and non-rock. So much more simpler in my opinion.

I started to emerge from my temporary oblivion and moved to the empty sofa seat beside Kali. Collin sat in the gap
Jennifer's legs were on the love seat. I set up the game we were going to play and within moments we were both lost within
the game. After countless hours of playing it, both of us were certified masters. Not to be conceited by I was probably a shade
better. Battles against eachother were usually quick, but bloody. Both of us always ran straight at eachother fighting in single
combat. We both possessed a special gun called the Elite Rifle, capable of killing eachother in one hit to the head. I concentrated,
three more stormtroopers had run up from behind him. I concentrated on them and was able to kill all of them swiftly with four shots.
I could tell Collin was straining to hit me, so used to firing wildly in the hopes of hitting something in the head; while I had adapted
to make my shots more accurate. After a few moments a stray grenade blew both of us backwards, my character did a backflip
twice through the air and then hit the ground with an inaudible thud. "Hey man, I just remembered I have this really good weed off
of my uncle. Do you want to smoke some?" I asked.
"Yeah man, let's smoke out of your bong." Collin suggested.
"Alright, let me grab everything." I said, as I stood up and produced a baggie of Kali mist weighing a little over four grams.
"What strain is that?" Collin asked, looking analyzing the bud.
"It's one of my uncles favourite to smoke, Kali mist." I said excitedly, sativa strains always agreed with video games.

I took the bong and put water in; while Collin was breaking some weed apart for the bowl. When everything was set we
proceeded to smoke the bowl. The Kali mist completely woke me from any thoughts of slumber, I was now ready for the rest
of the day.

Hey RIU, I think ive got everything all planned out good, im not going to post anymore of what I write, its getting too long

i always appreciate a good piece of literature, keep it up bro, ive written a few short stories and memoirs haha but i cant show them damn =/

hey man-wtf, you wasted my time-I was reading your shit and hoping when will the horror begin??and now you say no more story time-common dude.your story was cool, but a little off in the end where you started to talk about some video game.

lol I was just comming to post some shit, I dont write that fast, I do, but I tend to wlak awhile for awhile and come back to it, this is supposed to be a fairly long story, im almost to the point where they get to the city and move in, then you will get your horror

edit: Im going to continue writing what I originally have planned, but im going to skip over the boring stuff and get to the horror, dont want it to drag

I too have been wondering when you're gonna post more!!! lol I do have to agree with grow space though, that video game offshoot was a little too busy. All in all, good shit so far man! can't wait to read the finished product!

I've re-read the paragraph with the video game and realized it does go into too much detail, and has nothing to do with anything, I have re-edited to add more dialogue between the characters, and a breif mention of what they are playing. My friend was playing battlefront while I wrote it, and I was incredibly stoned, but as promised, I have started to write that parts where it actually comes to horror Ill give a little overview of what happens in chapter 2, im skipping to chapter 3, where they actually get to the place where all the shit happens



Chapter 2 Overview - Focuses on Andrew and Kali, they awake together in the morning on Andrew's bed. They talk while they
help eachother pack for the move. Andrew briefly speaks with his mother, she tells him she's proud that he got in university etc
etc. They meet up with Collin and Jennifer, they are driving in a seperate vehicle. More of Andrew and Kali talking while driving,
they arrive at the city, chapter 2 ends when they just pull up to the apartment building.





It was dark, a supercell had just approached from the south. Lightning flashed across the sky, and rain pelted the
windshield. I turned right onto Silent Road, the name sounded peaceful enough to me. More savage lightning flashed across the sky,
this time a crackling boom was heard. Kali shifted, but did not wake. I smiled as I turned into the parking lot of 1642 Silent
Road. From what I could see, the place was even better than what Kali had explained to us. The drive was long, I could feel the
fatigue starting to hit me. I peered at the clock, only 11:45. Collin had decided to stop at Mcdonalds' about five minutes
back, so they would be awhile. I decided to smoke a joint before they arrived. Since I was tired, and did not want to waste any
marijuana I picked the smallest joint to smoke. I cracked the window and lit it, after a few seconds of toking the song Santeria
by Sublime came on the radio. I sang along quietly with the song while I toked and layed back in my seat. After finishing the joint
I opened the window almost completely to have a cigarette. A wave of euphoria and relaxation had me completely submerged,
the cigarette intensified my high as I smiled to myself.

Kali moved again, this time she was sleeping facing me. She looked very peaceful sleeping, I reached over to play with
her hair when a bright light hit the car. The other car pulled up beside me and parked, it was Collin and Jennifer. Like Kali, Jennifer
was sleeping in the backseat while Collin smoked a joint in the front seat. I exited my car and walked over to his window, lighting
flashed above and completely illuminated the building. Our apartment was on the third floor, as the lightning struck I peered into the
balcony door. For a moment, something that could not possibly be there caught my attention. In every window and the balcony
there were people standing still, peering out into the darkness. I stopped in my tracks as lightning flashed brightly again. This time,
they were all looking at me and they were extremely pale. Lightning flashed again and illuminated their faces, some of them looked sad;
while other looks absolutely furious.One of them put their hand on the window, my heart raced as I tried to
comprehend what I was seeing. Then, with a fourth burst of lightning, they were gone and the windows were empty. I shook my head
and said to myself. "Man, this is some good shit."
