And the gov seems open to it.

Sounds like a race to get their paws on some easy money... RI in the lead by a bit, Mass coming up fast. They definitely need the money more than the surrounding states. Mass. will most likely be going rec. legal after 2016, that's why RI Leg. is jumping this one. Too bad RI is a shithole, for the most part. I live about 5 miles from the border and try to avoid going there whenever possible..last time i was down there the parking lot i was in was littered with used needles..state full of junkies.
Long as I can get to a dispensary without driving all the way out to CO, I'll be happy!I agree it will be greed that pushes this. It would be huge for RI, tax $$. Unless, the old politics peeks its nasty head then all the money will disappear!! That's Rhody for ya
You jest, sir... but that is EXACTLY what I see in about 10 years.Maybe someday, like tomatoes, you can buy seedlings at Home Depot and bud at roadside stands
$20/G may not be the avg, but there will always be a quality index. My neighbor grows tomatoes every year..plants them, waters them, that's it, at the end of the year he always has hundreds of deformed bland tomatoes. I grow about a half doz heirlooms, i tend them, fertilize, do insect protection, I might not get hundreds but they are always plump and tasty. Which one is going to get a premium price on the market? Using alcohol as an example you can buy a bottle of vodka for $10 or you can get one for $100, legalization didn't change the fact the people will pay for a premium product. Plus, the more time I spend around this site, I come to realize that many people just can't grow anything without constant help, so I'm not too worried about an influx of A++ grade buds destroying the market.Sounds like a race to get their paws on some easy money... I just hope that they realize that the tax returns will be very short term... Once it is legal to grow, the end product will more closely resemble tomatoes than alcohol in proliferation. Sure... some folks will buy, probably quite a few. But anyone who thinks that $20 per gram is going to be the stable prices for the next 15 years is living in a dreamworld.
IT IS A WEED. And a very easy one to grow. At the end of the summer, there are so much tomatoes around from gardeners that you can't give them away. 6 high yield plants in the backyard would give me more than I could smoke in 10 years. I'd just give it away.... like tomatoes.
No I'm serious. Well maybe not about the roadside stands. You jest, sir... but that is EXACTLY what I see in about 10 years.
Well...maybe not quite that open. Probably just like brewing beer. You go to the brewshop to get your ingredients and supplies, do your thing at home.
But 20.00 a gram? Fuggetaboutit..,.
Actually, the seedling thing is not so farfetched... I can see that happening. I get catnip seedlings for Tux and Maggie... Why not weed?No I'm serious. Well maybe not about the roadside stands.
You are correct... I buy craft beer, but not PBR. Single malt, rather than rotgut. And one of the reasons I am so pumped about a dispensary nearby is so I can get high quality indica strains 9f my choice, rather than the grab bag one finds from a street dealer.$20/G may not be the avg, but there will always be a quality index.
