Don't get me wrong : I'm not denying high CO2 concentrations have a (big) positive effect. Faster development, and like you said thicker leaf tissues, stalks all are very real.
But yeast and sugar, unless maybe if you start an actual brewery, doesn't produce enough to be of any interest ..
I've been hearing those urban legends from noobs since the mid 90's, with experienced people telling them not to bother.
If it actually worked, you can't expect it to still be the best kept secret 25 years later. It would be the most spread tip, and no-one would use those expensive CO2 systems .
Trust me, it's not worth it.
Want high CO2 ppm => Burner, bottles and dry ice will workin sufficient quantity.
I also have an 'inexpert POV' on this subject as I have not used CO2 myself. But I would be very surprised to be somehow proved wrong on this one
It is pretty easy to work out how much yeast and sugar has to ferment in order to reach a certain ppm for a giver room.

...i saw more CO2 systems on profesional greenhouses than the tipical comercial greenhouses...so that says something too... off course with high temps too...
...and saw good results too... ...my pov note... i saw leaves... more thicks... on vegetative... on floration more resine production on more leaves too... for the entire plant... not only canopy...maybe its only this variety...my inexpert opinion...
...for get solid co2 without electricity....i post some info in one post of Positivity...
pd... i saw one person using solid co2 but only on vegetative... they used free ice co2 too... not sufficient for floration... but hey there are free c02......again thick leaves on vegetative too...
