If you got a radio shack near by, you could look into getting a jewelers loupe, or a magnifier about 60x to look at the trichomes.

8 weeks flowering?..wow....what strain?...cant see by pics if done..need a loop to look at trichs.

You want it to be about ~10% amber before you way to harvest. It all depends on what type of buzz you're wanting. More amber = a more sedated high. Cloudy/white = speedy high.

When trichomes are clear plant is not ready, when 80% of trichomes are cloudy, (meaning max THC production, even a few slightly brown or deteriorated), time to harvest. It becomes an art, Ive found waiting a longer is better.

I was at 10% clear 80% cloudy 10 amber when I harvested hopefully I can keep the smell because it smells lovely

this is pretty much how I harvest, 80/10/10 (cloudy, amber, clear). when I look at the buds in my scope, if I see 5-10 amber trichs , its time to put in the 24hrs of darkness, and prepare to harvest.

I didn't do any dark this time does it help

growers are kinda split 50/50 on weather or not a period of darkness before harvesting does anything.

Do boveda packs work I have some and not sure if I should use them during my curing process

I use them as well as many other growers. I put 1 8gram 62% broveda pack per 1/2 gallon mason jar filled about 3/4 full (no more) after my inside rh is stable at 65%.

So is that during cure or after sorry stupid question is the one that is not asked and this is my first successful harvest

Demon, I've read a few places that boveda packs can mess with the terpenes and flavonoids negatively. Have you experienced any negative effects from them compared to just jarring the buds with out them?

That's my concern I don't want hay flavored nugs so I'm unsure it boveda absorbs the flavors
