For shits and giggles, like what?

What are the errors or misinformation?
Sativied, I get where you both are coming from, but this statement is what I feel stirred shit up. Kinda opening pandoras box by saying you dont believe in the bible but then argue that it is factual.... I c what you are getting at with the atheist christian thing since I was raised catholic but have not believed since I was 12. I guess I just think it should have a different title instead of the oxymoron of atheist christian. I feel like its agnostic because when someone asks what I believe I say something but fuck if I know what it is...

It's "kettle".
Oh you got me there... really, you do...

You can't be both at the same time you blithering idiot.
Calling me an idiot while there's no logical reason for it doesn't work... just a tip. Repeating your claim doesn't make it any more valid either, just continuing to ignore the points I made so clearly, you're just continuing to be as blind and ignorant as a bible thumper making this so ironic.

You're wearing your wooden shoes again today, aren't you?
As usual you're the one without valid points and start acting like a child if things don't go your way.... The fact you think you can insult a dutch person with "wooden shoes" just shows what a simpleminded person you are and you have no place in a debate about religion... or anything else for that matter as you treat it exactly the same. Your responses are very similar to a bible thumper insisting his views are the only correct ones. You've clearly shown to have no interest in logical reasoning.

What don't you understand about you not having the authoritative power to determine what a good christian means to someone else? How dumb are you that you don't get you can't use their bible's bullshit to make your atheist point? You're the type of atheist that causes religious people to hold on to their believes, nobody likes a hypocrite...

Do christians believe in god?

Do athesists believe in god?

Connect the dots.......

You can follow the examples of Christ, thus being a Christian, without believing in God.

Too often atheists suffer from Post Religious Stress Syndrome and are violently opposed to anything resembling a religon.

I recently heard of an atheist church in Houston, Texas founded by two former ministers who have lost their faith but feel nostalgia for the community derived from church.

I see no reason to be harsh on those who share my beliefs and connect them to a God.

Well then why not choose one of the other dozens of peaceful prophets instead of one of the most controversial, getting the familiar feeling of being trolled...

you saying you dont believe in god but in the teachings of christ is super oxymoronic since the whole premise of his teachings was be a good person on earth and you will be rewarded in eternity but be a dick anf shits gonna be hot... do you see why it gets peoples jimmies in a rustle when you say you are something but in the next sentence directly contradict the core of his teachings.....

@st0wandgrow: Since you're just going to talk in circles, read my previous replies for answers. Try to use reason and logic rather than merely connecting the dots which describes your simplistic way of thinking quite well.

Kinda opening pandoras box by saying you dont believe in the bible but then argue that it is factual....
I see your point and agree that didn't help his case and that question on itself could imply he's taking more out of it than he should, however, he also specifically said: "I like the principals, I don't believe the bullshit." Well, if he likes the principals of being a good christian but doesn't take or spread the bullshit stories as all factual historic events and realizes not everything can be applied these days, I'd say the phrase "good christian" is an understatement and he's a "better christian" instead.

Indeed a better christian doesnt tell ya its the righteous path or fire and brimstone, they say god loves all and you just need to embrace his love. If the jehovahs witnesses would try this tactic instead of the door to door bs I might entertain the idea for a second... but as with most things in this world it has to all black and white or people just do not how to get a on with life..

Good questions Nitro.

other peaceful prophets?

Like Muhammed who led armies and slaughtered innocents?

People have done this in the name of Christ, but there are no stories of Christ ever harming anyone.

There are tales of the Abrahamic God killing people, but in these (made up) stories these people were overly wicked and sinful. It wasn't just for shits and giggles like old Muhammad.

Other Abrahamic prophets do not give a complete picture as Christ does.

And as an American I am far too unfamiliar with others to randomly decide to be a Seek or however it'd spelled.

I grew up in church and it's familiar and comfortable to me. When I was a child I believed in childish things, when I became a man I put away such nonsense and stopped believing in God.

But the morals and values stuck. I still pray because I believe it is spirituality beneficial.

Christianity is familiar and comfortable to me. I like what it says. I like the people most Christians are before they get tripped up on their cognative dissonance. The problem with christianity isn't Christ, it's most Christians that judge people harshly because they sin differently from others.

Exactly. A christian believes in god. Atheists do not. You can't be both.

A person can agree with some of the teachings in the bible, but that alone does not make them a christian.

There are good points in every religious text ..... but that does not make one a muslim, or a jew, or a hindu just beacuse you can relate to some of the teachings.

If your course of thinking is what would jesus do then there are a lot worse ways of thinking. Christ was a pretty righteous dude, his followers just got a little fuzzy on shit sometimes so they went back to the old testament for reference lol. After all, how many atheist soup kitchens do you see feeding the needy?

Atheists say what everyone else thinks. The idea of heaven makes it easy to forget about all the sick and suffering all around of the world. Surely if there is a heaven their suffering will be rewarded with everlasting nirvana and all we have to do is say our prayers and be a good person and we'll be there too-we can live our lives in our 4 bedrooms houes and drive our big suvs to soccer practice and not worry about our less fortunate friends, after all life is short and if they are good people they will make it to heaven. When the idea of an after life vanishes, and we realize that the sick and suffering will never know anything other than that, we all realize we have blood on our hands for letting our fellow human beings suffer when there is plenty of resources in the world for everybody. Religion serves so many psychological purposes for the feable minded things like atheisim scares them.
Excellent post
