Questions using Eco Grower Hydro

Thank yall so much for the info! This is a great source with gracious members willing to take time to help. I'm sure I'll have many more questions going forward, but I'll try to do my homework first.

Can someone help tell me what's going on with my leaves curling/waffling. Photo is attached.
Day 14 of growth, PH 5.9, PPM 520, Solution Temp 71F,Tent Temp 77F, RH 57, lights 16/8. Condition appears to improve during day light schedule. Seems like some kind of stress? Thanks

They will droop down at night, that's normal, think of it as them resting lol my one plant looked almost dead it would droop so much at night sometimes.

The picture doesn't show anything to be alarmed about

Btw just so i have a better idea of comparision, when are you considering Day 1? When you first saw green(those lil round leaves, forget their names) or when?

Yea the pic doesn't really show it but some of the bottom (real) leaves have edges being wash boarded, not sure how to explain it but some of the bottom leave edges are rippled instead of being concentric like all the others. Look at where the arrow is pointing to if you can see it. I have struggled with maintaining a constant RH which I target at 55%.
I considered Day 1 when the first real leaf appeared. Thanks Anon for your advise and help.

Agreed with Anon, nothing to be alarmed about. I still think your ppm's are way too high, I'd be feeding straight water at this point still. You're right, humidity could be a factor. You can get some clear solo cups, poke some holes in them, and cover the plants to create individual humidity domes. Added effect by mildly saturating the inside of the cup. A lot of people hang wet towels and stuff in the tent.

Okay I got ya, I noticed that but wasn't sure if thats what you meant. I get that sometimes as well, never becomes a problem.

How many plants do have have going? Do you plan on doing any LST, Topping, Scrog, ect..?

Hey Anon, only have 4 plants this go. Don't want to lean to far forward on my learning curve since this is my first grow. I would like to do some LST & maybe some FIM due to the height restrictions I have though. I would like to eventually do a Scrog as well. I see it can provide real advantages if you are space constrained.

What's your max height?

I agree with nothing to worry about with the leaves.

I don't agree about water only now-----why would you want to do that?

The indicator I use to tell if nutes too strong-----leaf tip brown = no stronger. I don't see any signs on your leaf tips.

Remember: With that 400 watter you're only have a useable light envelope of 2' x 2'.

Scorg is a very nice method of keeping a some what flat canopy (if running flat).

So hey I'm new to this but I tend to agree with you Alaric. I decided not to up my PPM's, but instead watch my plants closely for adverse affects which I'm not currently seeing. PPM'S are not climbing hardly at all, put I am starting to see greater h2o uptake.

Anon my tent is 7' tall but I only have my about 46" between top of my eco grower and the bottom of my 400w light in its full up position.

Bc it's still a seedling and tap water will be perfectly fine for a little longer.

I placed this girl's seed into a pH'd tap water soaked starter cube on the 25th of November. This is exactly 3 weeks later. Got her first dose of nutrients at ~250ppm 2 days ago. Has 5 nodes and was topped this morning. Looks droopy bc she just woke up. I read my leaves too which is def helpful but you'll find that the consensus does not add more and remove later but rather, add less and add up as needed. That 3" cube is exploding with roots so I got the Hugo yesterday. I've been passively top feeding this plant just experimenting with rockwool as a grow medium b/c I think I'll be doing SOG next time and top feed irrigation. ScrOG growing is cool but the veg time is annoying and I doubt I'll do it again. Maybe once more...

Wow they are beautiful! Yea I realize my mix is hot. I noticed this morning that I had one leaf blade with a small brown. Leaf edges look fine but none of mine have that dark green color like most pics I see. Anyway if I wanted to drop my PPM from 500 to say 250, would you just drain some solution & top with RO PH neutral H2o? I will be in my 3rd week tomorrow. My rez holds 13 gal. Thanks

Leaf color will vary by a different factors, it's not like it's a tell tale sign of something good, so no worries on that. And yeah you could do that to dilute your ppm down.

Yes dilute with RO. Mine looks darker than it is bc of the light - under a warm white it looks lighter

Hey guys, just diluted the solution and the PPM is down to 420 from 530, so I droped it 110PPM. I have attached a couple pics that I think you can see the brown spots. Only on this one plant and on the two leaves shown. The expanded view shows the overall view of the same plant. Hopefully this is not a sign of things to come. What do you guys think?

Its hard to gauge - adding, diluting, altering this or that can all cause growth stunts and lockout which reveal themselves by the appearance of a deficiency. So having the higher ppm could have caused the plants to lock out, and lowering may have added to that - it could take days for them to feed normally again. Just monitor your ppm's - if they go down, that means that your plants are asking for more food so add some nutrient. If they go up, then there's too much for them to take in so you should dilute the mix. Record the results in a little journal, they'll be helpful in the future when you get more familiar. Which TDS meter are you using?

This will help you gauge accuracy of measurements

It is a CWP Instruments 24/7 nuts monitor. It's range is 0-9990 PPM. You multiply the display x10. Not sure what scale to use from the chart above, maybe Hanna?
