Question, how to check colours of LEDs...

Hi,
Fiddling with electronics/micro-controllers is a hobby of mine and I'm thinking of building my own Led growlight.
I (basically) know why different colours are used, I know about narrow bandwidths of LEDs and why it's best to use different colours red and blue.

Since I use cfl now and only bought 'standard' leds so far I'm wondering... Do you actually see the difference between ~625nm and ~660nm leds or ~445nm and ~470nm leds ? Or is each red(/blue) led about as red(/blue) as the next ?

I know it would be best to buy top-quality leds, it's easy to find data sheets for those and be sure I get the right ones. Lots of cheaper Leds are sold in different nm-ranges as well though, but since sellers themselves often can't find data sheets of what's sold, I need some way to tell whether the colours are right.

yes you can, the blues and whites are quite easy, the red 630, 660 are a bit more difficult, theses modules have

6 red 660
5 red 630
2 blue 450
1 blue 430
1 white 3,000K

The difference is indeed quite easy to spot. For some reason I see7x660- and 4x630nm- leds, but they're probably better to spot in real life as on a photo. Next step, sampling Leds for a small prototype garden !
Thank you very much.
