Question about Liters/Minute of air in DWC

Hello all,

How many liters/minute of air do I need for a 5 gallon bucket DWC. I've been running 8 of them with a 25liter/minute pump. It seems like enough but I would like some hard numbers to be optimal.

Also, I've just read that too much air can result in PH problems. Anyone have experience with this?

Thanks

For 8 I would recommend no less than this 110lpm pump. http://www.calihydrosupply.com/Air_Pump_12_Outlets_112W_110L_p/AAPA110L.htm

More air doesn't cause ph problems.
That is fine for a single bucket.
If the pump you are using is like this one

Then don't use it for more than a 2 or 3 buckets. That design is shitty.

If you want to go with 4 or 5 buckets, using this type:

I am using one 110 liter per minute pump on four 27 gallon tough box totes, with 8 inch flat round airstones and I am getting hyper aeration with it.

I have found that the more saturated the solution is with bubbles, the less problems you have and the better growth you have.
Hope that helps.
