I miss tinkering around. My thought process is : I used germ, then let the tap root dangle over a make shit bubbleponic until the tap root was long enough to put into pots with clay. I just got back into it and used rapid rooters. So I’m not sure if the idea would really be the same.
The sprayers hit closer to the top of the nets. Promote roots coming out vertically with an airoponic effect (can’t remember what it’s called, tips of the root dying and regrowing) nice strong roots. But it’s primarily a dwc so I don’t need to run the pumps as often or as long. I have this in a small tote too for the seedlings. I was doing 1 mins on 1hour off. Increased 2min/1hr and they started looking over watered. Once there was roots popping out from the sides. I took it down to 30 secs on 1hr off. Over watered. 10 secs on 20 mins off. And after 6 hours of sleepy time. The roots definitely blew up. I don’t think I’ve even seen it that fast. It could be that I got the GH nutes dialed in a little better. I used the clonex root stuff and it was just the timing of everything. I’ve never run an auto before and those are definitely the bigger roots, but I did have issues with the photo in that buckets too.
anyways. It doesn’t effect my temps.My 12g tote is around 67° and the little guy with 7.5L water is running no hotter than 71°. It’s 40w together for a few minutes a day so reallynothing on the electric bill even though it sucks. I’m going to hook this up to a RDWC so I have a bigger res that auto fills into a control. Flower room. Will have 4 4 gal buckets, 6in stone, sprayers around each 5”net pot for photos for a perpetual grow. Each bucket with a shutoff to control water flow and isolate individual plants if need be. 2 buckets to one control bucket. As big of a tote I can fit for each control that auto fills the controls as water drops.
My struggles with dwc. Constantly filling buckets when they drink. Res temps. Cleaning the buckets every week. Out of all the hydro systems dwc gives the most leeway, as long as the plants have water and nutes. If every pump falls or I lose power. I’m not screwed for a few hours. No misters or drains getting clogged and shutting down the system and causing a huge flood. So with this I shut everything off and keep an air stone in and keep my baby on life support. And maybe I get some other results out of it. Other than playing. I will add that it was 5am and my dumb ass didn’t clean anything so my pH is not being nice.
