Quality of medicine?!?!

I received my card roughly a month ago...11/15/2011. I have tried medicine from 6 diff organizations in the Albuquerque area....and I am shocked at the lack of quality medicine. Having lived in California and been a medical cannabis patient when I was there, I personally am surprised that the medicine available is of such low quality. 2 of the 6 organizations I have visited have quality medicine...the other 4 I was quite tempted to call them and demand my money back. It seems to me that the plants are either harvested too early and/or undercured. Is it because of the limited number of plants they are allowed to grow and the disproportionate number of patients they serve? Or is it just a lack of horticultural experience? Comments, questions, flames?

Can you post or PM the 2 that you thought were good? I just got my card. Have you tried the ones where you can walk in?

That sucks that the quality is low. I think I've heard that before.

I don't the answer though. It seems like you're theory of early harvest is good. Maybe they order dank genetics to begin with and try to breed and grow f2's and that causes some potency issues. Weird. It seems like they would start with decent seeds though. Maybe not.

I know what you mean. I tried some out-of-state bud from a neighboring medical state and it was amazing how much more potent it was. The curing process was leaps and bounds above anything I've tried in NM so far. I think it is the plant limit that's causing the problems. I have found one producer that I can rely on and I only order from them when I run out of home grown.

Glad to see that I'm not the only one who thinks so Carne. I'm not saying that NM's medical cannabis is bad or not worth it, but when compared to medical marijuana from other states it pales in comparison. When somebody can find better cannabis on the street for similar if not lower prices, I think signals something is slightly off. I've talked with some patients and I think what the issue is that there is a lack of 3rd party reviews for the dispensaries and their products. What do you think?

I was thinking about this some more today. In CA, it seems like a good grower can get a permit to grow legally and a dispensary can get product from just about anybody, allowing the dank to rise to the top. In NM, to produce, you have to start up an non-profit, have a board of directors, go through a lot of regulation-it looks like a pain in the butt. Therefore the producers here are not necessarily the best growers, but rather growers who have been able to circumvent the red tape. There are probably some awesome growers in NM who can't go legit because they are not organized enough, not enough start up capital, criminal record. These folks end up selling awesome medicine on the black market.
It would be like if the dispensaries in CA had to each grow their own product. It's like our system is grower driven rather than product driven.

wat a shame haha I can get some badass weed on the street in abq for $20 a gram definately medical quality. I used to have a friend in silver city who was a big time dealer and he would go to Cali or Colorado or they would drive to him top notch weed. iv always had the suspicion thats it's the leftover medical from those states, shit we had mowie wowie, blueberry, purple kush, lemon skunk, super silver haze, afgooy, white widow, and those are just the ones I can think off the top of my head
