Pullag poll: Should the US intervene in Syria?

agreed 99%.

but we do need to send the message that gassing your own people is a big no-no.
True enough, but are we the ones with the moral authority to send that message? For that matter, is any member of the UN security council "without sin"? The security council members certainly had no problem carrying out their own genocides or using chemical weapons in the first world war or using nukes in the second world war.
Maybe I'm paranoid, but I doubt the Syrian government used their chemical weapons. For one thing, chemical weapons are unreliable and ineffective. Sure, you can gas a neighborhood but that is no guarantee that you will actually kill the intended targets. Chemical weapons cause significant collateral damage, and when you are fighting a civil war, PR is kind of important. The weather can change and disperse the weapon over other areas. Besides, Syria actually does have a pretty strong military. They have main battle tanks, jets and helicopters that can let loose significantly more intense and accurate firepower than a chemical shell would deliver. Only the rebels would gain from the use of chemical weapons, even if they used them on themselves. It would spark the international outrage they need to get the military aid they want.

why would they bomb the gassed area and fire on the inspectors?

and don't US spies already have intelligence letting us know it was assad's regime?

i'd cite an article but i don't really care enough to do so right now. i just saw some headlines while i was trimming over the last 4 days.
That's why the world hates America. You have your mind made up and you go on trying to help others make up their minds that Merica should go to war and you have nothing resembling facts to guide you in this thinking. You don't even know what a war with Syria entails. You would likely not ever care to inform yourself of the human toll for such a war. You're insensitive to the suffering it will cause. You are everything you used to hate about Faux Nooz viewers.

It is really offensive that you do this, simply by repeating one liners and avoiding actually thinking about it. Your motive is obviously blind worship of Lord Obama, who can lead your heart in such a way, since he is apparently infallible.

Most of this rant is obviously my opinion. I base it on your words in this thread, and I hope they bother you enough to think about Syria, or at least keep your stupid ass opinion on it to yourself, since it is only informed by a few headlines while you were trimming.

You have a stupid ass opinion on Syria.

lol.

sorry, your rant does not bother me enough to disregard the information we now have about assad's regime trying to cover up the traces or fire on the inspectors or the new intelligence we have that he did indeed carry out this attack, which is shortly to be confirmed by inspectors who will be out of there in a couple more days.

and tester, we certainly do have the moral authority to slap assad's wrist for dispersing chemical warfare on his own people.

I wonder how many of the 4 destroyers you have in the Mediterranean will be destroyed by Syrian anti-ship missiles...?

Again, Syria ain't no Iraq.

They are looking for this. They need this. With out this, they can not invade.

...I'm sure they'll confirm it, just start the bombing...

If you are referring to the US 6th Fleet, we have more than 4 destroyers, I can assure you of that. I served my Navy enlistement in the 6th Fleet. And Syrian surface to sea missiles are no match.

i'm just hoping they wait for confirmation first before bombing, although it really does seem to be confirmed at this point without the inspectors.

Will Biden be calling for Obamas impeachment if he doesn't have permission of congress since
he has ranted so much about impeaching presidents if they don't have permission from congress.

Pointing out hypocrisy is a game for the pundits and the people. It is not as though the administration is going to be shamed into doing the right thing when its hypocrisy is displayed.

What does Game Theory say?

If the actors in question are Asshat's cronies, and the "rebels" (of which there seems to be an ideological mix), what does the matrix look like?

Syria Game.png
Considering the "payoffs", I fail to see any logic with Syria gassing itself... But plenty of reason for the "rebels" to do so.
And there is clear evidence at the beginning of this thread of FSA capabilities in manufacturing their own chemical weapons.

So... Where's that evidence again of who is responsible?

i just looked it up, news outlets right, left and center are all reporting that US spies obtained info that assad's regime was behind the gassing.

not that there was any real doubt anyway after he bombed the area again and fired on inspectors.
left right and center of what?

a Syrian diplomat is going around Europe insisting he has evidence of the contrary

You wouldn't know left media if it took a crap on your neoliberal views.
