Are you telling me that they cannot open suspicious packages? Don't they scan contents?
Yes that is 100% correct HOWEVER if its domestic we can open it if its international we must get a warrant. It also depends what service you ship the item with, the laws are really weird and it changes all the time. This was five years ago and i worked in just about all departments before i got fired, im sure its the same.

This is the list we cannot touch without a warrant; They were very specific about this and when the list change it was a big deal.

  • First-Class Mail® items.
  • Priority Mail® items.
  • Priority Mail Express™ items.
  • Global Express Guaranteed® (GXG®) items that contain only documents.
  • Priority Mail Express International™ items.
  • Priority Mail International™ Flat Rate envelope and small Flat Rate box.
  • First-Class Package International Service items
  • First-Class Mail International items.
  • International Priority Airmail™ (IPA®) items, excluding IPA M-bags.
  • International Surface Air Lift® (ISAL®) items, excluding ISAL M-bags.
  • Certain Global Direct™ (GD) mail.
  • International transit mail.

If it was UPS or FedEx it was probably an employee. I worked at UPS for a couple of years and we were always looking for that stinky box and "accidentally" break it open. We only had a metal detector at the gate that we had to go through, so pot was a real score for us!!! Potato chips, lol... Lunch break stoners
Yup. Of the two jobs I have I currently work part time for one of the aft fore mentioned shippers. We tape up tons of open boxes. Some are poorly shipped, too big a box for small item is the most common cause. Also they are getting tossed around through the shipping process and sometimes break open. Always use the correct size , proportioned to the item you ship, you never want any pockets of open space when you ship. Many smokers work at both places and are always on the look out for money and drugs.
