Positronic's "Blue Rhino".........Blueberry X White Rhino

3 days into flowering after a 28 day veg period. This appears to be one of the more under-rated strains out there. Without clipping, it will produce 1 massive main cola and produce a wonderful berry/skunky taste and smell that people rave about. There's 23 plants under two 1000 watt HP's and the smell is already coming on a bit. I'll lollipop them in a day or two, along with a mite-preventative spraying. They grow slow and stay short in veg, and only stretch 3-7 inches in flowering which is nice and manageable.........expect them to go another 8-9 weeks for a full finish.

10 days later......a slight bit more of a stretch then I expected but still under 1 ft. total. They produce a massive main cola so I was happy to see the elongation, as a serious main stalk will be necessary to hold the cola. I put 1 stake in each pot to help steady the plants and will tie them up in time.IMG_0044.JPG

looking great man, I did not comment because the forum rules said not to comment on grow journals unless asked to leave comments by the poster.

Thanks guys.........if people don't post something, good or bad, I figure no one cares much about the strain so why bother posting.........

I'm figuring this will be like some of my Green Poison grows- a basically unknown strain brought back to life by a strong grow report. I've been told by Sweet Seeds that I resurrected that strain with a series of outstanding grows and I won't be surprised if the same thing happens with this Positronics sleeper.

I'll happily continue to post. Thanks again.......

Im watching I was away for few days. Im on first grow, and thought mine were pretty good I need to do whatever you are! I just started under 600MH a week ago.
You should list what nutes n soil and every4hing your working with. Im very interested.

I have numerous grows that detail my method but in short:

Pro mix with added dolomite lime (3.75 cups per bale) and perlite in 4 gallon pots. I use Botanicare Pure Blend Pro nutes and their Cal/Mag (10 ml) with every gallon. I also add General Hydro Floralicious Plus and Flying Skull Z7 to keep the soil and roots clean. I add these to every watering and never seem to have to flush. pH is kept between 6.3-6.5 (never higher) and ppm is usually around 1000-1200 in flowering. Nothing much else other than a Botanicare bloom enhancer in flowering as flower develop.

23-24 plants under 2000-2200 watts. I use a R.O. device to keep the water fresh and clean. I've been doing this MANY years and have found this to be the cheapest and easiest way to get great results. Lastly, I'll spray the plants twice with a combo of Azamax and Monterey Insect spray- once a week before flowering and then again about 10 days later- to take care of any spider mite/bug issues that may arise. This is all that's needed, and I've had great success in producing a very high quality product.

I've noticed that people on riu are only interested in og/gsc/gg#4/etc... crosses. For some reason people here think you can't find dank unless it comes from some over hyped clone only. I've had my buddha's dream journal going for like two months and very few have stopped by, but I suppose there are creepers that will see the post and get some helpful information. Cheers and I'll keep an eye these girls.

Yeah, I hear you. That's true on most sites- everyone wants the newest and greatest......but there are loads of great strains available if you are willing to do the research and find them. It often takes me a week or two of searching forums and blogs before deciding. I try to look for a well-balanced strain, one that seems to have it all i.e. done around 9 weeks, high potency, short to medium height, funky taste and smell (skunky, fruity), nice bag appearance with good bud density, etc. I always seem to find 1 or 2 negatives in most of the plants I research to grow.........funny though, about a month ago a buddy and I started compiling a list of all the strains I've grown since 1988- we stopped after filling up a notebook size sheet of paper, 3 columns which means it's at least 84 strains so far. Variety is the spice of life I guess......LOL

I previously forgot to mention I also use either Great White or ZHO early in the plants lives. These are fungi/bacteria that help build an extensive root system, enabling the plants to grow faster and healthier.

Day 18, they have finally stopped elongating. I was a bit surprised how much they've grown actually.....I've read many reports, most of them from 2013 and before- that reported they only stretched a small bit (3-7 inches or so). These all basically doubled in size, from around 2 ft to 4 ft mostly. Plants on the outskirts of the room which are getting less light stayed at around 3-3.5 ft. They are still very manageable though.....

And, I am glad to see a classic "blueberry" pattern, mainly a large center stalk on each plant for the main cola to grow large and be able to hold it's weight. Every pure blueberry I've ever grown, from Dutch Passion's to D.J. Shorts has had this pattern. The general knock is there is a % that either grow wierd leaves, or are runts, etc. I'm happy to report out of the 30 started, I kept the 23 healthiest and best looking and saw none of the usual problems. I know Positronics used a D.J. Short Blueberry as the mother.

Down the road I'll post some links to numerous reports/reviews I've found and read that helped me make the decision to try these out. For now, many report the uplifting and heady buzz of the blueberry and the late night physical (body) slam of the White Rhino mix in a very nice combination.

Yes, everything I read said that this strain had a stretch so minimal it was borderline non-existent, mere inches like you said.

I am quite surprised that these had a double height stretch.

I am wondering if they had a recent seed run with this strain..........maybe some of the parents have changed or something along those line.....

I actually also just realized I've been using only my MH bulbs, I forgot to switch to the HP's which I switched over to flowering. Because they don't produce as many lumens, this may be the reason why they elongated more than normal......

HP's being installed as I type.

Have these beans been stable looking or tons of phenotypes? And hope you didn't kill off plants with weird leaves or mutations. I had one of the best blueberry plants, potency, color and flavor, from a mutant in a dutch passion blueberry pack in 2002. My buddy who started the seedlings for me said he wanted to kill it because it was slow and weak so I took the seedling back and flowered it myself, needless to say my buddy regretted that decision as soon as he seen that girl in flower. Sure it vegged slow and was a bitch to clone but the smoke was unbeatable, we called it Blues Clues because it left you saying WTF! Cheers. Hope these B.rhino turn out super.

View attachment 3393313 View attachment 3393313 View attachment 3393313 None of the 30 I started had any signs of mutations, runts, etc. A couple did not sprout, that was the only issue. I just kept the best 24 looking (healthiest) to save for the room. I didn't have any more room for anymore so they were destroyed.

The HP re now installed, as you can see the "yellow" as opposed to the white light in all the previous pic's. From experience I can say there is not too much difference in MH vs. HP...actually, in veg, the plants stretch more with HP's. I also tend to give them a good bit of N early in flowering, so they don't yellow out too soon. I still think it's genetics (the elongated stretch), not something I did in the grow.

Ok, I got you. That is the hardest part of growing, killing off healthy plants even if they're small. But you gotta make room for the best performers. Cheers.

I'm actually starting to wonder if I got the wrong seeds........it's happened to me before. I ordered Dr. Atomic N.L. and I was sent N.L. X Haze- Reeferman actually got to the bottom of it as it happened to him too, at the exact same time. He was going to use the N.L. in a breeding program, but discontinued it when he realized the same thing I did. He contacted hose in charge, and the mistake was found (probably done on purpose though). Same kind of thing- supposed short plants that grew to 7+ ft. monsters- I knew quickly though these had tons of sativa in it per the leave design, smell, etc.

The height continues to be confusing......everything else assures me they are Blue Rhino i.e. wide indica leaves, thick stalks, internodal length, smell, etc.- but the final height has more than doubled during flowering. I had to bend 1 plant as it was the tallest and within a foot of the closest light. At day 24 today, buds are now starting to get serious.

Next time I grow these, if I do, I'll pinch them back to increase yield and keep them short. If you grow them, I'd do the same.

This will be the last post for a few days......this afternoon, I tore the room apart so I could get at the tallest of the plants which were precariously close to the lights. Every plant was removed, lollipopped (again), cleaned, then tied up and strategically placed in the room. There are 4 plants at 6 ft., 8 plants at 5 ft. and the rest (11) at 4 ft. The tallest were placed in the back row, the 5 footers were placed around the perimeter and the shortest ended up under the lights. I'm happy I spent the time, the room will be in much better shape for the long hall- about another 5.5-6 weeks I guess.

Wonderful smells coming from most of the plants, not blueberry just yet but sweet none the less. No evidence of any bugs or deficiencies, all of them are quite healthy. Believe it or not, that's 23 tops you are viewing........Friday will be a month of flowering.
