I lasted five days before being banned at 420 mag for recommending non-sponsored gear years ago.......@hosebomber is the only smart cat in that lighting section, doubt he even frequents it anymore.

Since irishboy that place had been about selling the "secret sauce" to unknowing growers.......shame
I've been bit before

The the general idea that the llight is crap
My opinion is based on the fact they don't disclose (they even make false claims about) the manufacturer of the LEDs/chips. HPS's have proven that light quantity is more important that light quality (aka magic spectrum).

Pretty paranoid arent you? I acually did just purchase two p300s so I´m interrested....Obviously the p300s arent going to have the newest tech...they are only 360dollars but I don´t see why they shouldn´t be decent...I mean from everything ive read the Advanced LED, Calfornia Light works and platinum LED seem to be pretty similiar..are you saying they are all bad?

You've bought them already, you're not gonna send them back and neither of us will persuade each other. Maybe we should skip the BS, you can get to growing and see for yourself?

Dude...I´m not trying to persuade anyone....I spent a chunk of dough on these lights so I´m interested in finding out if they are good or not.. You seem to be sure they are not so I´ve been trying to figure out why. You would make a better case if you could produce some data that speaks against the light( like tests of the spectrum and other peoples reports) but noboy does in this entire thread. So I guess I´ll just have to check it out for myself. And no I really dont work for Platinum, if I did I wouldn´t admit that they dont have the newest technology.

Email and ask them the part number for the diodes. Then we can pull some data together

I had one and returned it. Most LED panels suck. You have to build your own to have something nice. There's are about 3 companies that I like. Return that and get (2) Area 51's. Do a nice grow with the HPS/LED combo. Then, buy two more lights in the summer to replace the HPS. Higher yields with 0 heat issues.

Your setup will definitely work great. But, those (2) lights aren't worth $750. Amazon gives you 30 days no questions asked. His website offers 90 day guarantee. I used Amazon.

Wow. For $750 you could buy (2) HPS 1000 watt setups. Lol

Sent an E-mail to plat LED about the diodes..got this response: "
Hi Steve..

We use a combination of Bridgelux and Epistar diodes. However, the difference is not only in the brand of diodes but in the quality/bin that we use. We only use top bin diodes in each brand which helps lend itself to greater reliability and performance.

Let us know how we can help!"

So about 10% of the LEDs used in their lights are Bridgelux since they only make 6500k.

So do a little reading about LEDs. Epistar is just a cheaper diode. I would bet too that they are using cheap chinese drivers as well to drive them. That is how he is able to price them how he does, they really do not cost much to make.

Yeah....the statement on the website is a little misleading
Which is consistent with a business that rips off the name of another business the way Platinum does AdvancedLED.

You can do better for the money spent on epi-whatever diodes. And, there are better companies to give your money to (who don't have to resort to name-ripoffs to get customers).

Area51 or Apache Tech

You can also build your own for a reasonable price. Read through the many threads on this forum for a few days and you will figure out what to do and understand it a bit better. Seems like a daunting task at first, but its really not.
