That is what I keep screaming! LOL There are alot of people calling the state trying to figure out how they are going to cash in on this crop! Last time I checked the state was going to pay $97 an oz, and like you said Hippy it is going to cost alot to make alot. Am thinking a big company will have to drop roughly $20-$40k on a new spot to grow. That is ground up big commercial grow op! I had a budddy drop 5k on a brand new full hydro setup but who the fuck has that nowadays? I bet that fucking pig farmer doesn't have that! LOL

Well it will all be fun to see, everyone can come up here and try to grow for the state but the reality is going to be big buisness comming in and proffiting off MJ. The state doesn't care who grows it they just want to tax the shit out of it. People with money will continue to make more, they have the capitol to make shit happen. And layers!

If he was smart, he'd grow hemp, not "real" cannabis.

At least he's recycling his "fertilizer"

The only thing any of us can do is wait and see! There is money to be made legaly, but it will be big buisness. Growers that are growing now will go from selling oz's for 220-280 a zip to sell to the state for 97? Even though you can grow more and make more the simple fact is there will be WAY more plants and WAY more costs! I know it can be done I just don't see home growers, switching to a big grow nor having the money to do it! Except for that one pig farmer!

No worries like Toke said there will always be a black market, and when the state is selling oz's for $340 there will be a HUGE market for street oz's at $280! And that's a pay raise! ;) 502 is a pay raise for drug dealers! LOL everyone that voted yes on 502 just voted to pay more for weed. At least it will be legal though!

Phillip Morris will come in with some shit that is 75% thc and be able to grow it by the megaton

Then they will use that loot to lobby goverment and make growing without a half million dollar license illegal
and then we will be back to square one

Lets get rid of the market for weed entirely
Make it legal to possess and grow
Illegal to sell

Yeah Oregon will be selling up here with cali also! They already do! I have a fealing that there is going to be alot of tourism up here in the NW as soon as the weed shops go up. People flew to Amsterdam to smoke weed why now Wa or Co? So with alot of tourism that will also drive up the street sellers that can undercut the state. I am happy for everyone but the state making money off this! I support local growers and spending the money localy to help the local economy.

$150 an oz for top shelf? I think that is Unckle Buck oz price not average Joe price!

check CL for portland (search "OMMP"). if you don't know anyone and have to resort to CL, you might pay up to 180 or 190, and usually that's crap grown, east of the river, garbage weed.

but if you know anyone (and that's not too hard in this state), you'll pay about $150.

fuck the state grown weed by people who dont know what the hell......I will continue to grow my own and wont buy from anyone...shit i havent bought any weed in 20 years.... why start now

I have saved and made close to 1/2 million dolloars in the 20+ yrs of growin smokin sellin ...I have shown my kids how to grow for themselves so they never have to buy any weed

shit a healthy plant grown outodoors can produce 15-20 pounds of weed easiily.....but it takes 5 people 5 - 8 hour days to trim.....

grow on a farm commercially a couple hundred huge plants... you will be indure some serious labor costs just to harvest it.

only to get $3 a gram as the grower... then be taxed 25% from the state .... also not be allowed to take any standard Federal tax deductions for businesses.....hahahaha good luck

http://www.9news.com/news/local/article/308583/346/Task-force-considering-anti-marijuana-tourism-regulation

The point of tourism made by Howard reminded me that Colorado plans to restrict cannabis sales to it's citizen's Which I am behind to an extent, it's sticky territory but I must admit that weed tourism despite it's economic boon would definitely cause an increase in crime. And no not because of the weed, tourist's attract people who take advantage of tourists. Look at hawaii, or many of the island's in guam... as soon as they get a lot of stupid tourists people who sense the opportunity to make a quick buck robbing someone who doesn't know how things work in that area come out of the woodwork. Increase the population you increase crime... let me highlight an example for those in southern Washington. Battleground crime rate for example 3 population 1 crime rate (points for explanation of the subject not based on hardcore demographic but my observations over the years.) Vancouver 5-6 population with 2 perhaps even 3 crime rate as things have been getting harder in major cities since the downturn of the economy. And finally across the river to the south we got Portland, Oregon... 8-10 population easy 6 crime rate. The crime rate is typically in figure 1/3rd of the population point value but this figure increases as populations increased as highlighted by my hypothesis and example below.

Crime rates are accentuated by the media far more than population hence why many don't consider the fact that places like Chicago for example (a place known for it's gang violence) really aren't that much more violent per capita than anywhere else. Well save for a factor of exponentiation beyond a certain populous (a figure I touched on in the last paragraph), due the the fight for various resources. My example of that is Mumbai, India. If you are not a native you don't screw around in Mumbai, desperate people do desperate things. Cross overpopulation with the typical causes of crime and you have a for lack of better word... shit storm. Therefore toppling the 1/3rd ratio, because as you see my theory is based upon an increase in level of crime (no perticular allowance made especially for violent crime.) correlating with population. My example of portland is practically a 1/2 crime rate to populous instead of the typical 1/3rd due to the fact over a certain level of population the crime rate to population level estimations need to be altered accordingly.

Ok I can see I am going into manic mode and iterating upon points that are not wholly to do with the basis of my subject. Time to go smoke and let my brain slow down a bit. Sorry if my theory is nonsensically explained, or confusing.

$3/gram = $75/ounce, that's plenty. the key is to grow more, more more.
