im not gonna lie v12xjs you got me doubting whether the 70w hps will do the job, im only looking to grow 2 lr2's in my pc but im aiming for 1oz each should step up to a 150w? or would that just transform my pc into an inferno, maybe 70 this time around

Much depends on the level of stealth you need to maintain LOLsauce.
If you can leave the side off the pc then cooling isn't an issue. If smell and light would get you rumbled then you have some work to do. Those LR2's stink like crazy.
The hps lamps have a separate ballast and if you are handy with electrics you can detach them and put them outside the case which would really help with temps.
I guess the perfect scenario would be 2 70 watters with the ballasts removed. All the light with a better spread than a 150 and less heat than a single 70.
If removing the ballast is a problem then maybe just get a couple of household bulb holders and fit some small cfl's.
Whatever you do, you should look into LST or ScrOG as these are good ways to maximise yields in small spaces.
Just give me a yell if you want any help when you get the kit.

yeah what ima end up doin is goin to home cheapo and buyin one of the lil 70 watters they got there for $50 and just tear it down to basics and stick the bulb ina cooltube i got from michaels like 9 inches long by 4 in diameter. id really like to keep this as cheap as possible so maybe ill get one light this round and another like 70watt mh to double up and alance the spectrum for the next grow. in terms of stink ima do a diy carbon scruber and if all goes well stick it on the end of the cooltube so itd be carbonfilter->pc fan->cooltube->electrical cavity w/balast->exit pc fan. the case must be shut and can smell a lil but i cant be stinkin up houses. if i build it, heat is good with the filter and i have spare cash maybe ill go 2 bulbs now.... but idk i still need to get the air pump/stones and res

i have a 70 watt hps in a little pc and it is working great. it is 1 plant but is scrogged to fill the whole thing. . 1 small pc fan for outtake at the top and the temps and humidity stay at 72 degrees and 30%.

Hats off to you if you get a decent harvest from the 70w past times. It isn't something I ever managed to do. I'm sure BTK3ill and LOLsauce would be most interested in more info / pics of your setup and harvest, as would I.
Don't forget however that both these guys are growing an autoflowering strain.

i dono if anyone is curious but i FINALLY have all the components purchased/assembled, the hps hurts my eyes BAD and the pc fan i got is 3k rpm and even with a carbon filter, has more than enough force to vent the bulb especially with a cooltube. next up is mounting the electronics on the back of the pc, building the walls and lastly hanging the light/cooltube

note: assembling all this shit is MAD TIREING, at this point i know why pcgrowcase is in buisness but hopefully all the effort pays off ^_^

Unless you are cooltubing a 150 I would suggest against it. I'm using right now for the grow in my sig and I had a few problems with heat in the beginning of my grow due to some heat issues...and I'd assume a pc case couldn't hold a 150 unless you had it cooltubed, just my thoughts.

yeh mines only a 70, i had it running last night, i used a power chord to remote the balast and the bulb does produce some heat but nothing too hot, with the pc fan goin i can grab the base with the light on, so maybe ill try it without the cooltube first to see how the temps are?

You just started on your journey m8.

I'm a bit like Homer Simpson so least effort works for me but on max load 70 watts will yield 70g per harvest and you can get 5 auto harvests in a year, so 350 watts if they are all good days.
As it stands my system gets me a gram a day plus loose change and I'm only getting maybe 0.5g per watt.

You will be adding light in due course and that cooltube will pay it's way a hundred times over when you do. It was a wise investment.

yeh, ima try and go hydro unless its harder than it seems, I made the tray to fit into that icebucket and have the jiffy starter plugs and some aquarium gravel ima fill the rest of the tray wit to keep the light out and serve as some kinda anchorage, do you think it'll work? I have an airstone dividing the botom of the ice bucket into two triangles and its one of those air curtain things which I broke so that it fits in there perfectly. The only thing is, I've yet to get nutes or a ppm meter or pH testers, like I said earlier I was thinkin of goin wit advanced nutrients but the 3 part formula is like $30 and then the ppm meter is $30 and pH strips like $5 so it kinda adds up... or i coulda just went and bought soil and flowring nutes with the money i used on the air stone and pump and gravel and been done with it.

anyone know if hydro is worth the pain? they are supposed to grow at an accelerated rate right?

I wonder if the are using the standard pc D cord plug as a power supply? It would be fucking awesome to figure out how to convert a PC power supply to run lights.
Maybe I will pull one out of my pile of PC parts and see what I can do. I think most devices run on 15watts of power.. or maybe thats just the fans... I will do some research if anyone is interested.
