During year one of Ace making seed packs, that msg board was getting beat up with requests for seeds!!! haha. In fact, CBG and ACE are steadily selling out lines every time they hit the market... no surprise, its one of those purple strains that hasn't been tarnished by medicinal growers trying to turn a quick buck. Breeders who like old school old world shit are tuned in but the smash and grab geneticists of the west coast have mostly left it alone in favor of their locals... so there is still room for great crosses to pop up. Seems most of the interest in PCK comes from eastern european growers, breeders in Spain and the Dutch scene, and a little NorCal..

First off, right off the bat, thanks to the Internet and Cannabiogen and whatever and whoever else, especially Soul from Brothers Grimm... Bottom line... I haven't done any breeding projects in a long time... this is all coming back to me now, and I am concerned. I want feedback, I believe I said that right off. If I am making any missteps, I want someone to shout. I don't wanna get flamed out like a newb, unless you feel that I am one. I bred some shit in the eighties and nineties, when I was a kid. Now that its practically legal to grow in Michigan, I am interested only in breeding again. So if I talk shit and am out of line, lemme know. If something I say don't make sense, holla. I have been reading a lot lately about breeding and breeder's threads all over the world. I don't claim to be some kind of God for making a couple of DUH strains in the way back but they were legends in their own right. Bottom line. Feedback. Or none. I don't fickin care. But the next time I say something crazy and someone lets it slip, I might think that this thread isn't being looked at by anyone serious. That's cool with me.

(Above) Well, I knew the rain would stop by 2 pm, so I figured this might wash the pollen that didn't get used off. You know what? I don't care anymore. I'm going to isolate them for a couple more days to make sure I don't bring any bugs into my tent, then I'm tossing em back in. I can see seed clusters on these busters that look like ten packs on every bud :)

(Above) As promised, recovery pics of the male in the garden. I dunno what the deal is with it, but I am pretty sure it is another clone from the original male seed... Green Pheno.

I also think that there is a chance that one of the other "less productive" Spliff Skunk No. 1's can eventually produce a good cross with the green PCK male... I know it couldn't hurt. Sounds like a project for a first time breeder to me. My first cross was Skunk (local Michigan) x NL5 (from a CA source) back in 1991 (If you believe me).

but I am bout to pull those lesser skunks out of the tent and violate them just to see, otherwise, they mean nothing to me...

that didn't happen, instead, they went to the rack to get processed as "Weed Garbage" hash material.

Here is a video of the PCK getting blasted with terrantial downpour, plus a walk through the whole perpetual, from clone machine to flowering tent:

If you are one of the few people who actually look at all of my journals, trying to formulate a picture in your mind about what's going on at the ranch, sorry about posting repeat pics/vids/updates on multiple forums. I am doing it for the masses, who are probably just random stopper by's looking for something specific....

Alright, I went ahead and hung up those seeded out clones... CANT WAIT!!!!>>>>.. Should be a nice handful of seeds in both. I threw the male in the trash. Here is the male in the garden:

And below is the PCK in the tent... I am about to hit all the stuff in there with a little pollen too... including the Skunk No. 1, PCK, Church, Cheese, and Trainwreck....

Okay, it has been a while and an update MUST happen. So this project ultimately got shut down so that I could manage a spider mite epidemic. I managed to harvest this crop but I never pollinated the Apollo because I didn't think the plants were gonna make it. I wish I would have pollinated the whole tent now! SHIT. I ended up keeping most of the stash, and it was good. Really fucking good. This Apollo plant made it to mid week 7 and the PCK (longest flower time) went 10 weeks. That one had a spider web or two on buds, but nothing too crazy on the top half of the plant. I spent many days, dollars, and two veg crops in order to have the smoke off of this crop and some babies to keep it going.

But I lost this Apollo 13 strain. The clones I took didn't root (2 of them).

The pollen has been in the fridge the whole time, hopefully that is still viable at this point.

I just procured 1 more Apollo 13 clone from a friend of mine in Detroit whom I gave a bunch of genetics and extra clones to earlier this year. Thank you my friend. Another source of Apollo 13 clones is from closer to me, a guy who got a clone of it from me through an intermediary. I am supposed to pick up two or three of them this weekend. So the project is still on and popping.

I also have a couple of Trainwreck/PCK crosses, Skunk No.1/PCK, Cheese/PCK, and some back-up PCK/PCK's. Over the next year I will be slowly going through these seeds and unwrapping the gifts that they bring me.

In about 2 months, I will be flowering these Apollo's, and 2 weeks after that, I AM going to knock them with the PCK. So you should see me back here before the end of the year.

UPDATE...

On Thanksgiving day, 11/22/12, I put the first of the three Apollo 13's in the tent. This was the one that I got from my homie in Detroit. I gave it to him last summer. Since then, I have bought about 2 ounces of cured Apollo 13 from him, and the shit was on point. So this will be the first to get pollinated. The other two are part of Crop 3 Med card 3. This plant is rootbound but it is on its way back. I'm going to transplant it into a 5 gal air pot today...

First is a pic of the three Apollo's veggin they are the three in the back... the second one is the first Apollo in the tent.

UPDATE....

Today, 12/20, is the day I pollinated the Apollo 13 in the tent with the PCK pollen. I used a paintbrush and painted pollen on every bud. This is after I turned the fans off. I already pollinated everything in the tent, so I wasn't too worried about cross pollination. Its looking pretty healthy so far, even though its in a tent full of screwed up plants that are about to be finished. In 2 weeks, 9 plants will go in the tent and two weeks after that, this baby will come out. I might let her grow fro 9 weeks just to make sure all the seeds are fully mature.

I still have plenty of pollen left, hoping that it is still viable, even now with the SUPER LONG delay due to the spider mite problem. I will pollinate some lower buds on the other two Apollo 13's when the time comes... until then, that is the update. I might shoot a pic of the one in the tent soon...

About 1 week before take down. This is day 57. The calyx are super swollen, there are clusters of hairs coming out of the tops of the buds, the leaves are starting to fade (I put ClearEx in it a week ago and gave it Catalyst and HiBrix yesterday), every branch has buds growing on it from stem to stern and most of them are "filling in", and all of them have nice thick colas on the ends. The hairs are mostly white still and there are no signs of over swollen seeds popping through the skin anywhere. In fact, its hard to identify anything that looks like a seed is in there and fully mature. Today is also day 28 since I pollinated the plant. Kinda want to wait until I see a few poking through... Anyways, here is the picture with flash this morning:

Pregnant Apollo 13 plant... Day 63... I decided to hack off the bottom most branch to smoke on. I found a premature seed in one of the buds. You can really see the calyx bursting now but no sign of seeds popping through... I want to take her as close to 75 days as possible, which would give the seeds over six weeks to grow. The buds have many stages of flowers from fresh hairs with clear trichs to gnarled up hairs and clusters of amber trichs.

Twelve branches and a cola...
DSCI1865.jpg
Most of the branches look like colas...
DSCI1867.jpg
Foxtails are shooting out everywhere, distorting the famous Apollo 13 cola profile you could see in the pics from last week.
DSCI1868.jpg
Trichones stacked and packed like sardines on everything anywhere near a bud.
DSCI1869.jpg
The buds have shown no sign of slowing down growth on day 63.
DSCI1870.jpg
Sticky and VERY pungent, one quick bump into it and you smell it right away... a smell that can not be described.
DSCI1871.jpg
Apollo 13 buds are a spectacle to look at.
DSCI1872.jpg
They are even more of a treat to smoke...
DSCI1873.jpg
The underbelly of a nug... looking like an ice storm!

That's it for now! Enjoint!

I pulled it finally on day 73. It could have went longer perhaps. There were noticeable seeds popping through, hopefully something! I never found any seeds in the White Lightning or Church :(

She ended up about 4 feet tall with 11 side branches and a main cola that looked like some kind of monster or something. Crystals so deep, cutting these down was like wading through a swamp of THC. This stuff is going to be VERY potent... Apollo 13 is usually A+++ when harvested between day 50 and 60... The buds are all solid, trichs are solid white, no degradation at all, the leaves are fading but I could have let this baby grow another week easily. The calyx are fattened up, popping open, and foxtailing out in all directions, but most medium sized buds just have the three foxtails sticking out looking like a surrendering soldier... Updates in a week or two when I know if I have a seed or a few seeds or no seeds. I doubt that there are any buds that are loaded with dozens of seeds. I just didn't see anything that looked like that.

So here's the bad news... I'm just about done smoking this beast and... nothing. Nothing that even looks like a seed. The
next logical conclusion is to pop the seeds from the PCK and select another male. The pollen was just too old. Well, settle
in for another year folks, I'm just getting started with this project. I see the mistakes I made and will adjust. Here's the
Weed Porno from the Apollo 13, 73 days, dried for 9 days cured for 2 weeks.

Smoke Report

The bud below weighed 1.2 grams before breaking it up and discarding the stem and a couple of shake leafs buried in the
dense clusters of calyxes. I carefully broke it down by hand, because I was searching for seeds. These buds are STICKY. The
smell is pungent and has a rotten fruit mixed in with a stinky skunk smell, as advertised. It breaks up nicely, the 9 day dry
and 2 week cure resulted in near perfect nuggets. This plant was flowered early, but still yielded 3 solid ounces and some
extra grams. This is one of the side branch nuggets, not even a big one, not that small either, the average side bud was
slightly less than a gram, but the tops of those branches were over 2 grams. Into the paper it goes. I used Zig Zag Ultra
Thins so the paper didn't interfere with the delicious flavor I already know Apollo 13 is famous for. While lighting it, you can
already smell the Lemons. The rotten fruit skunk smell becomes an undertone that turns slightly more earthy. The room fills
up with the smell of dankness, for no other word can describe it. And this is before I even lit the joint. I am just preburning
the tip to get a nice even start. The first drag, I pull hard to try to capture that skunky taste, but I don't find it going in.
Instead, it tastes like I just put a Lemonheads candy in my mouth. Behind it is another smell that has a hint of Ammonia
behind it, making the overall taste going in feel like a lemon cough drop or lemon based cleaning product. Blowing it out is
when you get the rotten fruit skunk taste. It comes out thick, and you can taste it leaving a stain of lemon behind. Effects
are immediate, as an elevation feeling takes over. I raise the joint back up but pause because the cough was coming. That
is how the cough works with Apollo 13. It creeps. the first one comes faster than the ones after the following hits. BOOM.
The first one is easy and it actually feels good to cough, and you can clear your throat pretty effectively with these coughs.
The second hit is where the rubber really hits the road. The flavors are more intense than the first hit. I resist taking a huge
hit, fearing the creeping cough coming. The cough is easy to work around, you don't get it from the smoke as it goes in or out.
Just some time after. This time, my ears started ringing and my heart started banging in my chest. As I blew this hit out,
I could feel my whole outlook shift (this was the first J of the day) from whatever drab mood I was in to something else.
I can't really explain it, its like a feeling inside your belly that rises up and tingles out of your fingertips (making it easy
to hammer out a story like this one no prob). I began coughing, and it kinda took over for a minute, and I let it. It was a
hearty, deep in the chest cough. I pulled one more hit, this time going for bust. I pulled on that joint till I couldn't squeeze
another drop of breath even into my mouth or a nostril. The cough followed the smoke out of my chest and left me coughing
violently for the better part of 2 minutes. Pretty sure my face turned red and my eyes are still bloodshot. That is where I
usually stop with Apollo 13. Usually because some form of ADHD that only crystal meth addicts know about kicks in. Dishes
get done. 2000 word essays fall out like turds. Songs get written. Gardening becomes an adventure instead of tedious labor.
That is the best way to describe it for me. Two hours go by before I even looked at a clock. I crept back to the back porch to
blaze the roach back up. For the touch up, I might take 2 hits, I might take 5. With Apollo 13, these retouch hits actually
give you a stimulant buzz once again - unlike most other strains, which, hitting a half joint is usually the last thing you do
before you wake up the next morning. With Apollo 13, there is no need for coffee, unless you can't shit lol... but seriously, I
reduced my coffee intake from 3 cups when I wake up to 1 and an average of 1 gallon of tea per day down to less than 1/2
of a gallon. But does it work for pain? It is awesome for pain. Pain relief for me is a must - I have a cervical spine injury.
But the whole reason I wanted to get off of pills was because of the shitty way they made me feel most of the time. With
Apollo 13, the pain melts away on the first hit and there is NO shitty tired doped out feeling. As intense as the stimulant
effect of this strain is, I am happy to report that the rumors and sales pitch is also true: NO PARANOIA. I don't know if that
matters to most sativa lovers out there, but for those with Psych problems, it is something you might want to check into.
Paranoia is a very real side effect of a lot of strains, and being Paranoid is not fun for everyone. With Apollo 13, there is
zero paranoia.
