I’m honestly surprised HLG hasn’t focused more on bar lights. That being said, if somebody saw your 4x8 and said “nah I’d rather cover a 4x4 for the same price” they should be admitted for a mental eval.
Then they would be the cloners/copycats. bongsmilie

HLG sources all of their components from the same terrible country? What the fuck is your point?
Which terrible country do you think they get all their components from? I assumed you were talking about China, but maybe you meant a different terrible country?

I'm still quite befuddled that as a self-avowed patriot, you don't support US labor.

Ya, I thought his avatar was being sarcastic. He just doesn't make any sense to me.

You see a picture of patton standing in "front" of an american flag and somehow you conflate that to mean I'm a patriot? I think a guy that helped lead America to victory in WWII and not only killed a lot of fucking Nazi's, but also took great pleasure in it is more than okay in my book. I'm not sure how that makes me a patriot, but good for you making assumptions about me based on a profile picture of a badass Nazi exterminator. To answer your question specifically they source from several shit hole nations just like any other company interested in making a profit. Generally any shit hole country that treats their citizens like shit and pays them slave wages will do. Any other questions?

So you're not a patriot. Got it, my mistake.

You said, "HLG sources all of their components from the same terrible country", but when pressed on which country you think that is, you can't even seem to come up with an answer.

I don't feel that your position is very well thought out, but rather an argument that you've constructed to self-validate your personal purchasing choices.

You're incorrect, but I appreciate you efforts. The mean well drivers are made in China. The chips and strips from S. Korea and China. The rest of the materials are low cost and irrelevant where they are sourced from, but since HLG is in the business of making money there's no reason to believe they aren't sourcing everything they possibly can from China like every other company on the planet. The argument I hear from all the HLG fan boys so frequently is that HLG is made in the USA. The mean well drivers that power the lights are made in China. The chips and strips are made in China and South Korea neither of which is the USA. Have a good night sugar bear.

You're confused again. Not all Meanwell drivers are made in China. All mine that I got from HLG were made in Taiwan.

And I would trust stuff made from Taiwan, Vietnam, South Korea or the Philippines way more than China.

I'm not trying to convince anyone what to buy, but to diss the top brands is just ridiculous if you ask me.

My Meanwell drivers weren't made in China, unless you consider Taiwan to be China.

The Lumileds diodes that are in my HLG QB96's also were not made in China. In fact they were made here in the good old USA: https://www.mercurynews.com/2018/10/29/lumileds-maintains-manufacturing-focus-in-silicon-valley/

I'm a strong supporter of labor, so I don't mind paying a little more for quality gear, which keeps my dollars domestic. That's how we keep the american dollar truly strong. Don't get me wrong, I certainly buy my fair share of Chinese manufactured goods, but I do try to support US based companies when possible. Steven at HLG isn't just a middle man charging double to make a quick buck. He's employing a whole bunch of American workers with good salaries, and producing a quality product at a competitive price. The fact is that a HLG 600R cost less than Mars Hydro's newest 600watt fixture.

I do get what you're saying about middlemen marking stuff from China up to make a quick buck, and that drives me nuts too. I just don't think @Stephenj37826 at HLG is a good target for this frustration. If you wanna take aim of someone who's doing what you're suggesting, I'd be more likely to target https://lightgeekus.com/ who is clearly just a US reseller who's buying in bulk from China, but trying to look like the manufacturer, while simply marking up the price by hundreds a fixture.

Taiwan is recognized as a renegade province by China, and claimed as a part of China under the One China policy. Taiwan has a complicated existence. My apologies for the amplified aggression yesterday. I had to deal with an alcoholic piece of shit relative for several hours that bent me a little sideways. That was a well articulated response. I can dig that.

I am currently running 2 X SF2000s in a 4x4 tent. I have 3 Gelot.OG and 3 Amnesia Fast running in there. They are topped and lollipopped and in their second week of flower. I am expecting AT LEAST a pound. This is my second grow. The first, I tried to squeeze 9 plants in there and they got way too big and one of them hermied and I ended up with a seedy grow because I missed the male in the back and they were supposed to be feminized seeds. I still pulled about a pound out of there.

I give them 2 thumbs up. I went from paying way to much to my local dealer to saving a TON of money, finding a new hobby, and getting to pick my own genetics. I am in love.

If you need a shitload of pot, invest a shitload of money in tons of expensive equipment. If you are just growing for you and you? I love my Spider Farmers. They farmed me up some nice shit.

2 dingleberries hanging from the same asshole as far as I'm concerned. I did mention the 8th grade education, right? My momma was also on the springer show. And I'm pretty much classified as white trash by societal standards. For god's sake man give me some fucking wiggle room here :)
Nice, I am in Canada so I had to go for something with Snow Tires.
I'm going to open a gym to power my grow room...

Before I was able to grow my own I was paying $110/half ounce. It was brutal. Even being conservative I went through about an ounce and a half per month. That's a car payment man. The best part about growing your own is knowing that you have an unlimited supply for the most part, and you didn't get raked through the coals to have it on hand :)

Dude. $100/quarter. It was outrageous.

I didn't pay THAT much for a quarter out here, but it was still more than I wanted to pay for bud that powders in a grinder and even the tippy-top shelf ounces have muted flavors at best.

I loosely figured the costs - electric, equipment, even expendables - and my first harvest paid for itself about 4x over with a better cure and no comparison in potency & flavor. :bigjoint:

Recently bought an eighth, just to have something different --- that's where I got the description of the Blue Dream from the dispo...

I pressed all my larf, then converted all the once-pressed rosin pucks into infused coconut oil which I in turn then converted into cannabis gummy bears. Which someone may or may not have paid me for. I'm actually going to break even on costs of equipment and electric and maybe even make a little bit of money off my seedy first grow. JUST SELLING WEED GUMMY BEARS TO OLD PEOPLE CAN YOU BELIEVE IT!
