Odor problem

So ive checked the ducs no holes in them ive shaken the cf to try get the carbon to move around and ive turned off my intake just to make sure its only sucking air.
My flower room is smelling a little now to might be the fact that I keep going in there tho.

Cant think of anything els to do till I get the new filter.

Im also thinking to get a fan speed controller to reduce the the fan power but I think I might have heat issues as my heat is at 30 deg on average.

got home just before to find now smell in the house.
so not sure if it had to do with shaking the cf or turning off the intake fan.
any suggestions ?

now should i still get a new cf or stick with this one till it goes completely ?

Sounds to me like you have solved it.

Re: holes in ducting. These are comon and so hard to see unless you hold it up to a light source in an otherwise darkened room. I combated this with plastic wrap on the exhaust and bin bags on the intake (to stop light leaks, the exhaust doesnt need this as it is wrapped in towels too).

ONA blocks, while pricey, are pretty useful too. I have one in my grow room which I open five minutes before I open the tent and close it half an hour after I close the tent. Since starting this practice I have not noticed any smells even when opening up my flowering cabinet.

I purchaced my fan filter and silencer as a whole kit from ebay for 300$.
So im assuming the filter isnt good quality the fan works great tho the cfm on both are rated 440cfm.
Wich is abit over kill for more room from my calculations.

I just went to my local hydro store he has phresh and also mountain air filters for $180 and life span is 3 years.

So im hoping that will solve the problem.

This. I wasted MAD money on an 8"x32"(?) Ventech ebay POS! Fan/filter combo. Thought I was better getting the biggest one i could afford, rather then the nicest...boy was I wrong.

My 6"x24" (i think it's rated at 400cfm) Phat Filter COMPLETELY eliminates odor. I'm actually blown away with how well my filter and ONA work in combo. I put the ona right outside the grow room for anyone who might have a 'virgin' nose.

NO filter lasts 3 years, trust me.

Yea i dont have a filter and im growing 2 stinky strains, advanced biodiesel mass and skunk #1. I just leave the lid off my ona gel bucket for a little and it completely masks the smell

how long does you filter last ?
i rather pay the cash then having my house smell like weed.
and ONA sounds really good but i dont think it will work for me. my grow room is in my garage which is blocked off by 3 walls.
so no one can get to it or even smell my grow room.
smell only comes from end of exhaust out take.
so ill be geting a phresh filter on monday and that should do the trick.
till then ill keep shaking my cf lol.

if the phresh filter dosnt work im not sure what to do and what the problem is.

Just an update on problem.
Intake is back on so shaking the carbon filter actually solved it.

So thanks for the advice every one.
And for future people having problems give the filter a good shake and see how you go.

Hey guys im not 100% sure but I think it is my intake that is effecting my odor problem.
I turned off my intake wich is in my garage and the outake that lead to my roof stop smelling at the moment.
When I put my intake on my outake starts to smell again.
Is it my filter or am I missing sumthing here.

Why is this ?

do you have negative pressure with intake on? I use a passive intake on mine. if your intake is passing more air than your exhaust yeah that could be a problem.

Ive still got negative pressure with it on
Bur wouldnt that effect the smell in the flower room rather than the smell from the exhaust out take ?.

Im so confused lol

That was kinda what I was thinking slowandsteady, if his scrubber is working properly something may be causing the air to just move through too fast to be scrubbed.

Ona creates, in my opinion, an obnoxious odor of its own. I love my Phresh filter.

I tried to refill an old filter once. Maybe I got ripped off on the carbon I bought but it didn't work for crap.
They normally use a vibrating table to pack the carbon down. Maybe it was too loose?

You're flowing more air. Maybe its just going thru the filter too fast for the filter to remove all the smell?
