Sure, we could "bang out" North Korea... but why?

I think it's better to have Taiwan buying our weapons... and making much better computers than the chinese.
because of there willingness to keep advancing on there nuclear operations.....

personaly i could give a shit aout south korea democratic or not

We can only SLOW down.. the process of them making the Materials. They Most Likely have 10x the amount of Nuclear material than expected. N. Korea is UNDERGROUND Literally. They most likely have a BOMB or TWO, The THREAT IS THAT IF THEY RAMP UP THEIR OWN BOMB MAKING PRODUCTION THEY could sell it to TERRORISTs. the Fear isnt that they have 1. thats a Given. Their are THOUSANDS of NUCLEAR BOMBS ranging in sizes that have been made between Russia and USA. Trust that A few of thoes were Sold under the table back then.

I read that the North has/makes arguably the best artillery in the world.
Couldn't be further form the truth, they use old batteries from the soviet era. The U.S. has the most advanced system by far, our shells (not all of them) can change trajectory while in the air via gps guidance system, these shells can be launched from our howitzers. North Korea has it's advantage in numbers, one of the largest in the world but by no means is it the most "advanced".

True but Numbers Matters in War. Maybe not from the standpoint that yes we could nuke them off the face of the planet, But Cmon. America Sends in AID after it bombs a City. (Would never Happen too Much Political Correctness) but N.Korea may not have Advanced Munitions but theirs Only so many ways you can improve on a Howitzer or Mortar. N. Korea has enough Cannons Aimed towards the south that that they wouldnt need to take 1 step nor use any Nuclear wepon to destroy them. The South just has the US Equipment to defend them. But N.Korea could easily wipe the south off the map. (not saying they would Survive the whole ordeal but the South would be Fk'd economically WISE.) they have to much invested in their cities/technology/advances to have it bombarded by artillary for weeks.

America can not defeat N korea. we will not try to fight them. Obama didnt even threaten military action...the officioal statement came from the state department said 'this is very very bad behavior by N. Korea' that's all we said

I think you are overestimating North Korea, not to be rude but you need to do a little more research before making some posts. During the first korean war the soviet union bankrolled and armed the DPRK army. The Soviets trained and equipped Kim Il Sung’s Korean People’s Army (KPA, the North Korean Army) and supplied weapons to Mao Zedong’s Chinese People’s Volunteer Army (CPVA). Soviet MiG-15 fighter pilots, radar operators, and anti-aircraft gunners were deployed to fend off the U.N forces. The North has a large force indeed but does not posses the industrial base for sustained war not to mention no longer having the USSR around to help. The South has dominance in the air (9th largest air force in the world) and is not too outnumbered in it's ground forces who have much better training, logistics and weapons. The souths navy has the Aegis fleet-defense system which is very advanced compared to the north. Numbers do count for something but I suggest you look up the military strength of Iraq and their numbers leading up to the first gulf war, look at how many armored soviet era pieces (similar to NK) were destroyed by better western systems which Korea has. In the initial days of the war the north would unload all artillery cannons causing many civilian deaths but you can only go so far with artillery. With American support/intelligence the ROK knows where these pieces are located and probably already have them zeroed in with their mobile rocket artillery and missiles. "The south just has US equip to defend themselves" This right here tells me how unfamiliar you are with ROK military forces and their capabilities. Stalemate at worst, ROK domination at best.

I'm sorry but that is the most ignorant thing I have ever read. You need to do a lot of reading to understand the circumstances and outcomes from the 1st korean war and how it's like night and day compared to the current situation. The United States has a defense agreement with South Korea, there is no need to state we'll back them up...it's already known. The south calls the shots if and when it needs our assistance they will request it, no American will undermine the ROK gov by taking the lead.

By 1st korean war are you referring to the current korean war that began in 1950?

You said America would lose to north korea. We already had a war with the north and it officially ended and I'm answering your claim that the next conflict which would be the SECOND war with them we would lose. The north and south have been in a state of war since the conflict began half a century ago. Did I simplify it enough for you or we're you trying to give me a history lesson?

We have been fighting N. Korea for 60 years it never ended and we never won. It has been an armistice which is basicly a cease fire. that is what the D.M.Z. is all about and why we have had troops over their for 60 years. And if I were trying to give a history lesson I would explain that we were never at war with N. Korea

Bombing North Korea
On 12 August 1950 the USAF dropped 625 tons of bombs on North Korea; two weeks later, the daily tonnage increased to some 800 tons.[138]
As a result, eighteen of North Korea's cities were more than 50% destroyed. The war's highest-ranking American POW, US Major General William F. Dean,[139] reported that most of the North Korean cities and villages he saw were either ruins or snow-covered wastelands.[140]
As well as conventional bombing, the Communist side claimed that the USA had used biological weapons.
That didn't seem to stop them.
