I have 10 hindu kush seedlings right now. I read your thread last week and I think thats what I'll try this time around. Let them grow to 4th node and cut just above the 2nd if I remember correctly. Clone the tops and flower to sex I assume.

I'd let the plant go to 6 nodes, cut above the 2nd true node. Take the cutting that is left and pinch off the bottom leaf petioles as close to the "trunk" as possible, dip the cutting in something like Rootone-F and bury the cutting up to the first leaf petiole that is left which should be the original 4th node, now the 2nd on your cutting. You'll have 3 nodes with leafsets to manufacture food for root production and fast root output at the node that was buried. Root output will come later all along the buried stem/"trunk".

Hope that makes sense,
UB :D

Do you scrape off any of the stem to expose the inner part? How about the famous 45 degree cut? Finally, do you stick it straight into soil, or a grow medium such as rockwool? I have my first feeble attempt at cloning going right now on my papayas. I cut some lower branches that weren't really going to produce much bud anyway about almost 3 weeks into flower. I have them in foam plugs in straight water in semi lit area. No roots yet. I don't expect much from it. I'll try it the right way next time.

No

Forum bullshit.

I like soil since I do soil.

Here's hoping pythium rot doesn't get them first.

Mucho Gracious on the input UB. I'll put it to good use. Now on to my exhaust fan dillema. As usual my mind changed again and I couldn't get myself to pay $70+ for a fan when I can make one. Perhaps not as efficient but a lot less $. I found this on ebay and won it for 99 cents:

It has a 8" fan and 3 speeds. Its a honeywell high output turbo fan. It claims a CFM of 220. I'll reduce it down to 4" and build a Y and use it for both flower and veg sides of the closet. My entire closet is only about 80CuF so even if it ends up half as powerful because of the duct run then I will still have a lot more than 80cf being exchanged every 5 mins. Should work out fine for me. Go Ghetto all the way. The one thing I am going to spend money on in the next few weeks is a 400w hps setup. I can afford the HTG supply setup for $119. I'll end up with about 100w/sqft on each side. Maybe overkill, not sure. I'm waiting for Uncle Sam to give back my hard earned cash refund and then I'll do some investing. So everyone let me know how you think this fan will work and anything else I may not be taking into consideration. More pics are coming soon. Maybe some baby kush pics also.:leaf:

I cant say how well it will work, but awesome on the DIY most of that is marketing which makes it so expensive....i love looking for an easier way and cheaper....sometimes though its KNOWING when NOT to be a DIY'er

good luck

Hey Nozzle....just curious, are those Nirvana Papaya? Recently had me some problems germing a number of their products and was wondering if you experienced any problems germing.

I haven't had any germ issues at all with my nirvana seeds. I have ordered 2 times from them and so far out of 20 seeds, 19 germed.

Heres a couple more colse ups then a group shot. Going pretty good I guess. Tuesday will be week 5. Less than a month to go maybe? No clue. I notice they are plumping up a little bit now and they say it really takes off towards the end but this is my first so we'll see. Till next time.

I am already drooling on the things. I can't imagine what it will be like when they really get good. I just stand there and stare at the friggin things like a retard. My wife bitches because I am a slob and leave my clothes on the floor in the bedroom. But the closet with my plants in it is always spotless and organized. It started out with her giving me a small corner in the closet, then I took half, now all her clothes are out of it and its all going to the grow. I am ordering my new 400w hps this week I think. My new ghetto fan should be here soon and my seedlings will be ready to move under the MH by then. I am designing the closet to have a 2'x2'x2' veg cab and under that I'll stick my clones. The flowering side will be about 2'x3'x8'. I can't wait to start putting it together. I haven't had weed for close to 2 weeks now and I am tempted to pick lower buds and dry them but I know its better to wait and it would be useless now anyway. Oh the temptation.....

Just don't drool over the buds hehe. Yeah, looking real good. Now, step out of the box regarding the typical grower mindset - IGNORE THE BUDS! Your ONLY focus now should be on the health of the leaves and of course the root system. Maintain the leaves in a GREEN and healthy condition until harvest, and then you can drool, big time. ;)

nuff said....

FWIW, a 60/40 rule seems to be damn accurate as it applies to most hybrids. 60% of the flowering response's total time will be devoted to the stretch, the 40% that follows will be devoted to bulking up of the colas and small budsites. IOW, if flowering is 8 weeks, about 5 weeks will be spent stretching with 3 weeks spent bulking up regarding flower production.

Good luck,
UB

hey bro, I know I already told you the plants look great, but I just finished reading through the whole thread and I am so much more impressed. Those girls have had a fun little journey to get here and they still look so sweet. That's awesome.

I'm also very thankful for your mention of Google's SketchUp. I'd never heard of it, but have downloaded and started playing. So far I've drawn my closet. I'm going to diagram the whole thing for practice.

I remember in high school when I took drafting only the 2nd year kids got to use the computer's. I just had to draw, now I can finally do quick designs on the computer. I'm really really stoked.

Thanks.

My last grow was papaya. only got one out of six girls but got 3.5 ozs off the one. Nice shit though. low odor and fruity taste. Mine was done in a little over six weeks. Nice job!

Hey thanks a lot guys. I love Google Sketch up. I use it all the time. I was thinking of designing my closet with it also. You did good so far. Keep working with it and it gets easier. Later

A garden is dynamic regarding their ever changing footprint. Closets are not. Just a thought.
