Next Generation Seeds Not Germinating

Hey everyone!!!! Noobie to the forum here but wanted to join and tell my story hopefully saving other folks some money/trouble. I have read a few old posts (2009-10) on this forum and others about people who had problems germinating seeds from the Next Generation breeders. I have grown plants from seed before so I like to think I have pretty good knowledge on the subject since I have always had good success. I recently purchased 12 different strains from Attitude seed bank in packs of 10 regular seeds. I planted 6 strains in this first batch and saved the other 6 strains for a later batch. Here are the first 6 strains I planted w/ their respective breeders:

1. Pineapple skunk - Humboldt seed organization
2. Super Skunk - Nirvana
3. Euforia - Dutch Passion
4. Pot of Gold - Flying Dutchman
5. THC Bomb - Bomb Seeds
6. Dynamite - Next Generation

I paid a little extra dough and ordered my seeds in the "crush proof" tins offered by Attitude and all the seeds arrived in great condition. I planted all 10 seeds from each breeder directly into the soil between 1/4 and 1/2 inch below the surface and kept them moist and warm just as I have always done in the past. By the end of the 3rd day most of the seeds had begun to break the surface. By the end of the 4th day almost all my seeds had sprouted. All EXCEPT the Next Generation Dynamites. I had 99% success rate will all the other strains 10/10 sprouted with the exception of 1 Euforia (9/10). But still not a single Dynamite seed has begun to sprout. Its been over a week now and all the other seeds have become good little plants 3-4" high. Now I know that some seeds may take up to 2 weeks to germinate so I'm gonna wait a lil longer and see what happens before I email Next Generation with my complaints, but I'm fairly certain I got bad seeds. Of course the irony of the situation is that the Dynamite seeds were the most expensive of all the seeds that I purchased and the least expensive "super skunk" were actually the first to sprout and are the tallest plants so far. I am very disappointed not only on account of the money (80$) I wasted but also because I was most looking forward to growing this strain. I guess the saying "you get what you pay for" Isn't always true!!! Anyways, all comments, questions, similar or opposing stories would be greatly appreciated and I will update if anything changes or if/when I get any responses or hopefully reimbursements from Attitude or Next Generation.

I had a problem with Grape God not germing a few years back. Contacted Jay Generation directly, he apologized, got my contact info and sent NOTHING. My Timewarp that I bought at the same time all popped. Terrible customer service

Thanks for the input guys, Yea I was really looking forward to having this strain.......If nothing changes within the next day or so im gonna dig em up and try to germ another way....But I think they had near perfect conditions already considering all my other beans popped.

Do not tell Attitude that they will not germinate or mention germination in any way, shape or form.
You can try rolling them across a piece of fine sandpaper, gently. If that doesn't work, or if you dont want to try it, crush them. Then you can email Attitude and tell them that the package you received had busted seeds in it. They will replace them.

By the way, Super Skunk is big and potent, a very good plant.

yea I know you cant mention anything about germination I was just planning on politely telling them that I had been completely satisfied with all my "souvenirs" except those that came from "Next Generation" I wasnt sure whether or not I should say they were crushed because I paid extra for the crush proof tins and I was under the impression that they required you return crushed/damaged items before they would replace anything?

And yea I love Super Skunk its one of the best smelling strains Ive ever grown. I decided to start a fresh garden due to a bad spider mite infestation in the last one. I ordered all new strains except Super Skunk I just couldn't let that one go :)

UPDATE: So last night I decided to dig up the seeds to maybe try to germinate them another way and I found something strange/interesting. 3 of the seeds had not even cracked or begun to germinate but I was happy to find that the other 7 cracked and began to root. The strange thing is that they were all growing upside down. I found the root stem growing up towards the surface and seed/top pushing downward.....I thought this to be fairly odd since I planted every seed the exact same way and only the dynamites failed to grow properly.... so I carefully removed and re-planted the seedlings in the proper root down / seed up position and covered them up again with a little surface soil. Today 3 of them have begun to break the surface like normal and I'm hoping the other 4 will follow suit shortly. As for the 3 that failed to germinate at all I'm going to try to germ them in VERY wet soil one more time and if that fails I guess maybe ill soak them in water for a day or try the paper towel method. I'm glad that these Dynamites were not a "bad batch" as I had previously believed I think they are just extremely hard to germinate. I had to literally drench the soil to get em started....way more than I would normally do to germinate my seeds.

Having the same issue -- bought two packs of Timewarp from the 'tude. Two packs of Diablo from GreenLifeSeeds. Well, GreenLife sent only ONE of the packs of Diablo I paid for, and have not answered 4 emails from me asking about it. But now, I'm germinating for the outdoor season and decided to germ a dozen out of the 20 Timewarps, and all of the one pack of Diablo.

I opened the Timewarp seed vials and out of 20 seeds, right off the bat 4 were white and pithy. They crushed like dry paper when I did the pinch test. And now 17 days later not one Timewarp has sprouted. Only 2 out of 10 Diablos have sprouted. Its often necessary to scuff or 'scarify' the outer shell on some seed varieties, and especially on seeds of OUTDOOR varieties. So that's exactly what I do for all outdoor strains when germinating seed. Made absolutely no difference this time.

Bear in mind I'm also germinating about 350 seeds accross 8-9 other varieties and have had 100% germ rate, and healthy seedlings abound. Although I didn't scuff the shells of any OTHER seeds, every seed got the same treatment otherwise. I am not a newb with this. In fact, folks often bring ME their seed stock at this time of year to have ME germinate them and get their seedlings past the 'nursery' stage.

I am disappointed to say the least. And considering GreenLifeSeeds ripped me off by not sending the second pack I PAID for, it makes this even harder to swallow. I am really surprised that Next Generation seed packers or quality control didn't spot those white, pithy seeds.

Yea I'm not sure what Next Generations deal is........After I dug up my next gen seeds and replanted them I managed to get 5 to pop.....but i literally had to DRENCH the soil....way more than I normally would when germing seeds. I'm really glad I managed to get those 5 to pop but its still only 50% germination rate......and I know quite a few other people have the same problem with their seeds....which sucks cuz Ive heard their strains are bomb. But I probably wont be spending any more of my money on them.

Have you made any orders from Greenlife? I suspect not, or you wouldn't be singing their praises here and recommending them. At least you GET your order from the 'tude. With Greenlife Its a crap shoot whether your order will ever be processed, let alone that you'll receive it -- ALL of it, every pack that you paid for. PLUS don't expect any customer support. They will NOT reply. In fact, you have to be a 'web sleuth' to figure out how/where to contact them. The 'contact' link on the site goes to a blank page (and still does at the time of this writing). That about says it all.

I say this as someone who's ordered and PAID for seed from Greenlife on multiple occasions - all orders had some sort of issue, with each order getting progressively worse (for me, as customer). I finally decided NEVER to use them or recommend them to others after the last order from Greenlife (which took over 9 weeks to just PROCESS), when I paid for two packs of Diablo and only got one AND purchased a pack of Timewarp/Dynamite only to receive a vial filled with white, immature seeds that crushed like paper with a pinch test, and then I NEVER got any response back after emailing them 4 times. Greenlife order before this one, I ordered a pack of Timewarp and got 3 white pithy seeds and the rest never germinated. I should have stopped there.

USE GREENLIFE SEEDS AT YOUR OWN RISK.

Unless you LIKE throwing your money away, and enjoy being ripped off...

I get my Federation/Next Gen gear from Hempdepot now, and sometimes Attitude.

That's a really bullshit move by NGG. Why would they sell their "bad" seeds to the worlds' biggest bean supplier? People are going to buy them and lose their money. Thats pretty shitty IF this is a fact. My bet is that NGG wouldnt want that out but I thank you for this info. I would not treat my customers like that.

I have recently contacted Next Generation for a replacement of bad seed... They wanted the original package as a proof to see if it was there seed .... Avoid them if they are not able to produce good seed ...
Next Generation Banned of my wish list .......

I totally agree..The Attitude is huge and reliable, you'd think they would want them stocked fully with the best you have to offer!?!?! I never had to get their gear thru the Attitude tho, when i Started working with Next Gens. stuff it was way before the Attitude even carried Next Gen.. Started Blue Dynamite back in 2002,still going strong from the original packs i ordered thru Marc Emery b4 he got shut down..and the rest of their stuff i work with was ordered thru Greenlife..Never had a prob. with Greenlife, except one package that customs nabbed.. If you've never tried any of Next Gens stuff, give it a shot, their genetics rock!!!! happy Green Growing :eyesmoke:

Iv'e ordered thru Greenlife 4 times, got them all except one that customs seized..And Anne has always emailed me back within a day or two whenever iv'e had a question..I haven't ordered anything from them since around 2008 tho,so who knows who's running shit around there..Sorry ta hear you had sum issues with them.Next Gen. genetics are awesome..And your rite about the Hemp Depot..that Brad dude stays on top of shit there..Iv'e ordered around 8 times from them now and NEVER had an issue, not once..Ordered and shipped from Ottawa,Ontario Canada to the U.S within 2 weeks everytime..The only thing id say is it be nice to get them in the original Company/Breeders packages..but they do come in those nice secure little viles and labled,so its probly just the Hemp Depot furthering their good customer service by preventing ur stuff from being crushed...Hey MariJuanita,Just curious if you've ever got your stuff from them in the breeder packs????

Funny how everyone has different experiences......my Grape God's from Next Gen turned out great- my grow review is on RIU if you care to find it. I liked it so much, I purchased Next Gen's Dynamite for this grow. Got the beans from Herbies- 18 of 18 popped and they are growing well.

Personally, Herbies is my new seed vendor and I love them. They ship quick, are cheaper then most, and they ship very stealthy. But, I've never had a problem with anything from Attitude and that's about 12 orders total over the years.

I think it's pretty obvious what's going on here. It makes no sense that Next Generation seeds would sell bad stock to major seed banks. It DOES make sense, however, that Next Generation's breeding practices are SHIT!!! Therefore, you're going to get hit-and-miss results just like everyone is reporting.

I too used to LOVE Next Generation. I've grown both their Dynamite and Grape God, both feminized. They were fantastic! However, I just started flowering my current round (I grow 4 plants at a time, "tree" style, perpetual). Of the 2 Dynamite in this grow, 1 has turned out to be a STRAIGHT MALE!!! That's right, not a hermi, but a damn full on male in a pack of feminized seeds! This is the first time I've ever had so much as a single male flower in years of growing feminized seeds.

I'm done with Next Generation seeds!
