New MI grow....cfls

Actually I broke down and forked out about $1200 and bought a nice 4 square foot grow tent, 600w HPS digital ballast and HPS/MH bulbs, the 400cfm fan, an air cooled reflector, fan muffler, pH meter, carbon filter, and other odds and ends roughly a week after that box was built lol. I figured I would keep it cheap and easy since this will be my first SCROG, and it's been about 5 years since I grew. While building it I knew that I needed the right equipment though so I figured I could use this box for the first time around since it's already built, but I'm pulling out the big(ger) guns for round 2.
Hell use it for your veg box... I was looking at a nice tent at the hydro store the other day. They are nice. I have a popup hub style Ice-shanty I was thinking about converting over lol. I bought it to fish in but I always set it up and fish outside of the damn thing lol.

I always save all my old equipment and methods. I just had to throw couple in flower using old DWC buckets. Solid advice.

What size PC fans are you using? I had a couple on my old gaming pc, I think they were 4" and them suckers really moved some air when the temp got hot and the rpm's maxed out.

You have plenty of light to get started and well into flowering. Your plants will let you know if they want more light. If you can't fit any more in there then maybe you'll have a bunch of really nice buds that are under the light and a few off on the outer edges that aren't as fat but you never know. But if you have some plants on the outer edges bending in for light that will be a good sign to put another bulb over there if you can.

Your clones are looking a lot better then when you first got them! Poor babies... Nurture them and they will be fine.
haven't decided on fans yet gonna pick a few experienced brains in here to see what i need. I have time only 9 days in

ok this is what i came up with....the 2 6in fans that are now inside the box i'm gonna cut 2 holes in the top and place them there facing up to draw heat out of box. Gonna place 2 ocilating 6in fans in case and drill a dozen 1/4in holes in each side of the case to allow air flow. My question is .....when I start flowering cycle and need complete dark are the air flow holes gonna expose them to too much light ? During dark the top to the box going to be covered with a blanket to keep light out. Also worried about keeping the 2 fans on top going durning dark period. Comments please.

Yes, there is a chance those holes will let in unwanted light.. You could get some 6" flexi ductand curve it down towards the floor so there wouldn't be any light getting in, but if it's a real bright room it could still reflect around in there and get in, unlikely though. The curved duct might restrict airflow a little bit too, but you should solve your heat issues that way.

Are you worried about smell at all?

fortunately I live in the country and smell is not a problem. The room is not bright (bathroom) and the lights in there will be cfls too, think I'm going to cover the skylight too

I would thoroughly water them and flip them upside down and pull that cup off and take a look at the roots. If there are roots visible in there, transplant them into better dirt. Get some Fox Farms or something else good and they will take off. There's something wrong with the dirt you have them in now and since it's not much I would just get them in something good... While they are still alive. I wouldn't worry about feeding them just yet.

Cool man, What kind of soil did you use? Warning, do not say Miracle Grow!!
Friend of mine owns a nursery gave me the soil he uses believe it's called Sunshine Soilless he's been in business over 20 years and he grows everything with it. Claims I won't need to add anything through then whole grow (I doubt that part) but I cannot argue with his results

sunshine only has about three waterings worth of fertilizer in it. you will need something. i would try to use that skylight you were talking about. nothing comes close to sunlight. miracle grow is coming out with a line of soil just for mj i think next year. i like sunshine or bx promix. bx has mycorrhizal fungi which clings to roots and breaks down micro nutrients.

look into beneficial bacteria, and beneficial teas....they really speed up growth and root development and you use less nutes aswell...

what's a man to do..... I have as you all know 4 unnamed plants that I was about to toss till they made a comeback (getting stronger most every day), I've come to love those girls....sniff but as I said I donno what the hell they are. I now have a one time chance to pick up what I really wanted CASEY JONES. Problem is I have no room for more girls (2x4 cabinet with 4 girls). Thinking of tossing the girls I have and putting in the Casey.....but..... If I don't and they turn out to be shit I'll be kicking my own ass......what would yall do ?
