I had an appointment with my neurologist yesterday and we discussed weaning of the anti-seizure medicine when I get back to Illinois in November. I told him about the newer cannabis law about allowing some with seizures to use it. I told him I know medical cannabis its not close in Texas but many people and children have found it help full to treat many ailments. I explained the benefits of cbd and cbn (without the high) and asked for his opinion. He said what I thought he would that there are no studies out that proves any of that and they (neurologist) have to go with what the Neurology board recommends. He also told me that my brain tumor it what caused my seizure and I shouldn't have any trouble at all getting off the medicine if I do it in the correct way. I'm still going to check it out when I get back to Illinois because if there is a chance it would help I'm all for that. Besides, its time to get high again and I damn sure deserve it!

Welcome back 12 a lot has changed since the 70's I started in the late 60's
myself.
The new hybrid strains will amaze you, the days of the GOLD rush are gone
but not forgotten, but some of these new strains are kick ass and easy to grow.
Anyway welcome aboard you will find lots of cool stuff to learn and discuss.

Thanks OM60!, I have learned allot since I joined. been reading several hours a day while my wife is getting chemo treatments.I really don't see anything too hard just time and money for the initial setup but so much good information here. Some of these people really know their shit!

texas has really , really lenient laws for being a non medical state
houston / harris county up to a QP if you live in county and " cops discretion of course " but you can be sent home with a ticket
same goes for austin and san antonio texas is pretty laid back

honestly brother the initial cost isnt that much
seeds cost a bit but if you clone or breed its not too bad
really you could start off with CFL's or t5's the t5 HO have shown some impressive grows start to finish
also like my 400w HPS i bought off ebay for just a hair over 100 ballast ,cool tube hood ,bulb, hangers
smell control is the pricey part but i think i have about a 150 in my filter and fan but it handles 8-12 plants fairly easy every now and then you catch a whiff but not like it is when you stick your head in the closet

Cool, I've been reading the hydroponics section and it looks like to get set up with everything it will cost some . I'm not sure which way I'll go but I have a12x14 bedroom in the basement I'll probably use. Looking forward to growing something! I'm retired now so have plenty of time to tend the girls........ And taste!

Some of the new auto flowering strains that are out now are interesting
and you don't need two rooms to grow in and they finish in around 3
months.
On another note I would like to say it's nice to be able to read a post
without having to ask my son to translate the "text talk" I'll never get it.

Hydro. is a lot of chemistry, I try to stay organic just seems more natural,
it's also been my experience soil grown tastes better (I might catch it for that one)
different strokes for different folks.:peace:

i would look into something with a res
and figure out how to drain and fill it ( possibly tie into a drain and have a water line ran ) without having to lug around gallons upon gallons of water

i grow in soil less
coco or peat
both can be reused a few times
and the control of hydro is the perk to growing like this

I see many speak of lugging around water... I grow upstairs in my house. Personal grow, 4x4 tent with 3-5 total plants. Usually three in three gallon pots and two in one gallon pots. Soil grow. my water all comes from my kitchen sink downstairs.

I water every third day. Max use is three gallons of water. So the lugging of water amounts to bringing one gallon of water up the stairs per day. Obviously no disrespect intended to anyone with physical limitations, but it is not labor intensive or a big deal for most.

If I had a large grow, it would be more difficult. But for a small personal grow, first grow, I would put together a nice soil mix to keep it simple.

if he had 6 plants in DWC with a 30 gal res then i could see a problem .... just sayin

i have to carry my plants once a week or so to the bathtub for a soak down
12 plants most in 3 gal's and some in 5's and a 7
if i was 30 years older i might have a problem :D

Absolutely with a res system. I was talkin why not go easy and go with soil. And it depends on size of grow. I was just pointing put that it isn't a huge amount of water for a personal grow.

I don't have 30 yrs on anyone here, I hope, but def have 20 :-)

Hi Growin', I have a few long teeth myself and do a soil grow.
I have a room in my basement I normally run between 10 and 15 plants.
I just like soil, I don't think I work hard at it, how could anything that gives
such a harvest be hard! I think I get a little daunted by all the
technology that goes into hydro but three cheers to those who aren't.
As long as we are doing what we like and keep it green and growing.
And a great side benefit; my wife loves the raised garden beds in the
yard from the used soil when I recycle it.
P.S. My 32 year old son who has MS lives upstairs with his wife and 3
daughters and he's my youngest!
