Danny did you get a new temp and humidity reader?

If not, whats a solid one he should get? (Didnt read EVERYTHING)
Thanks for dropping in kind Sir.

I did not get a new temp or humidity reader, it was giving off accurate readings.
Someone told me on here that thermostats are more accurate under shade,so i put mine on top of my scrog
under a big fan leaf.

might want to ask that question in the marjuanna plant problem forum here on RIU forums, I have never had a light failure problem , but I am sure someone else has that can give you insight, good luck

I'll state up front, this is kind of "the blind leading the blind", in terms of one newbie giving advice to another… but, that said --

I've read so much here and from other sources online that its all kind of a blur and sadly I can't actually reference the threads or members whose advice I've been following, but I'll repeat it as accurately as I can. Basically, the most convincing info I've found is that CFL's project light/photons the least distance of any of the common grow lights. With each inch that you get away from the bulb, the intensity of the light diminishes significantly. From the pictures, it looks to me like your plants are several inches from the bulb, putting them in a very weak light situation.

Please, someone step in and correct me if I'm wrong! There could be countless other factors like soil and nutes, but the longer light distance seems apparent from the pictures. They also look a bit droopy, which from my limited knowledge would have me checking the soil to see if its dry, and checking the air temp(?).

After reading as much CFL info as I could find, I went with a flat array of small bulbs that once I scrog I'll be able to (hopefully) keep about 1"-2" from the majority of the leaves. Once it goes into flower and starts to shoot through the screen, I'll be adding some vertical lights hanging between the main colas, and I'll do my best to keep the distances between bulbs and leaves as close without touching as possible. I have found that this requires placing the thermometer right at the top of the canopy to be sure that I'm not frying the leaves -- lots of airflow is necessary.

CFL's are actually kind of tricky to optimize, because of their weak light penetration it seems like it takes more plant manipulation and attention than other light source methods. I check my plants twice a day and turn / move / LST them pretty much daily to keep them in the best positions possible in relation to the bulbs. Once they hit the screen that'll change, I'm sure.

That's all I got bro, and take it as stated -- I haven't even completed one full grow yet, so I'm just passing along what I've read. Maybe it'll spark someone with more experience to chime in.
